Please do not say "we" want a classic IL2 prop.....say "you" want one because I definitely want the real life look, not some hollywood or through the camera lens look.... and yes, I do know what they look like in real life as I have flown real planes.
BTW.... don't take this as a nasty comment as it is not meant as such :)

Also, every couple of seconds or so it looks as if the animation freezes briefly then continues.

If you dont have vsync on try with it, i got terrible prop without vsync.

But my prop is COMPLETELY invisible when the prop passes in front of a cloud.

Also the whole screen flashes like a strobe when I fly into a cloud and it seems to be in time with engine RPM.

when i saw it the 1st thing i thought was, thank God i'm not epileptic, the flickering is not very pleasant to look at. I'm sure soon i wont notice it. If it is now more realistic that's cool, but i don't see what all the fuss is about. The change is so small to me.

I tend to agree

this kind of thing will only happen if the viewer "flicks" his eyes in the same direction of the spin and catches a really quick view of the prop (spinning wheel spoke, coolong fan etc)
atm it, in sim, comes across as an irritation though at low rpm it looks okay
