try some different Nvidia drivers like the 270.51 beta or the 270.61 WHQL which are reportedly much better/more efficient for 500 series GPU and work like a dream on my GTX275 unlike any of the 260 series drivers
see: www.nvidia.com - Driver Download - search remover one of the sides from your PC case to see if temperatures stay the same under load, if its then >5C cooler with the side off then you have a cooling problem perhaps with fan flows working agenised each other given if you have 2 fans blowing in you will actually have 3 fans sucking out (PSU, GPU, and 1 case fan) thus if the case fan & PSU fan are powerful then they will reduce flow from the GPU fan exhaust as the case will be in partial slight vacuum when it should at the very least match outside pressure or be a slight positive case pressure. Likewise if you haven’t thought about air flow properly the intake for the GPU could be sheltered from the cool air flow in the case. FYI: the Maximum GTX580 Temperature is 97 C vs. the 105C of the 200 & 400 series GPU |
I have a ATI 5750 and is over clocked to 820/1335 and when playing CLOD my temp is 73C and the GPU is a 100% with the fan on auto, but the side of my case is open and there is nothing next to mt vid card.

b101uk said it all :-) Especially point 2 is very serious and usually underestimated. It does not matter how many fans you put in but how the air flow inside yor case is working. I have bigger problems as I have two GPUs usually the first blocking the air intake of the second and both of them blocking the cooler of the chipset on the mobo. In the past I used to watercool the mobo chipset with a very special thin chipblock cooler. (the arrival of tri-SLI mobos solved my problems by increasing the spacing between two GPUs). I have a special case with perforated panels on all sides, big fans on top sucking air out of the case and I have a big fan on the side panel throwing air inside, just above the two fans of my GPUs. (because of this setup, if I remove the side panel, the temperature of my GPUs will actually increase; This is proof that the airfow inside my case is proper and performing). Oh! And get all cables to the side and out of the airflow way (and bind them together). Another tip is to watch the temperature of your Hard disk (unless if you have SSD). It will give you an indication about how hot your case is getting. And sorry, I have no 580 (sigh) I have two 570 and I do not hear anything with or without hedphones - although, at your temperature it is to no surprise that the fans have to work at top speed in order to keep the temperature as low as possible. Besides all this, I must admit you 99% all the time is not normal ! This is a 3840x screenshot from my rig (patch 14.xxxx) the GPU-Z values show temp, gpu % and RAM used My GPU rarely goes up to 95% Probably the new drivers will solve the problem otherwise lower te resolution of the game and see if this changes the GPU utilisation% http://www.stoimenos.com/temp/CoD/Co...4_CPUload1.jpg Good luck and happy flying! |

Show me any game in the World that have this exact behaviour as we have here. |
it is a bit silly to think constant max load is an exception in games. The high temp comes from heavy usage of all gpu ressources, not primarily from high gpu-load. There is a difference. Its wrong to discuss the high temp problem as a bug of the game..

New case for a new case.

Seeing only ~60c max temp on my Nvidia 465SC with fans at 65%.
Clearly something wrong with your rig m8. Would clean the gpu and add some fans. Compare your case to this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811156063 (cant beat this case for the money btw) S` |
