Good idea trO, ebay for example.

According with Intel performance preview,Ivy Bridge will have a 20% performance gain over SB clock for clock.
But you need to consider that CoD is very far to do good use of SB,so if you later this year buy a IB processor,I doubt any gain will be noticed.
Only if the code is already optimized at the time to really put the CPU and the GPU to actually work...

I dont upgrade my computer just for one game but thats good reason Ibuchele. Although, wheres CloD going to be in a year or five...

Also would this entail an OS re-install?

Here is my target processor...

The issue for dual core CPU's is the game is now optimized for a minimum of 3 cores.

1 for windows, 1 for the textures and one for the rest of the game's functions.

If you are stuck with two cores, one is going to be overloaded. One will be running both Windows and the rest of the game functions.

I don't think your problem is your video card or memory.

Since you can't afford a mobo/cpu upgrade, there is not a lot you can do about your problems, your only options are:

1) Overclock the CPU. Yours is a little slow, try to get it up to 3.5 ghz at least. This will give you a little more headroom.

2) Get a good program which will shut down EVERYTHING on your desktop except what is absolutely necessary. That way the CPU which is running Windows and everything but the textures will have a little less load.

Doing a half-a$$ed upgrade is not really going to solve your problem. Better to wait and save your pennies and get a decent cpu/mobo combination, I'd recommend a 2500k as best value for the dollar. With your GTX-570, you would have a system which would run the game smooth as butter. ;)

You dont know what youre talking about if you really mean that going from a Duo to a Quad 9650 to run a multicore utilizing game is half as.sed. A Q9650 at stock speed wont bottleneck a GTX570 either, and he already have 6GB ram. Gimme a couple of days and let me reinstall CloD, and Ill get back to you, mkay....

Although I would NOT recommend a Q9650 at that pricetag. No wai.

Im with Kimosabi, at that price tag is not worth.

If you can wait a bit I´ll up some tests with my E8500 that will show that is not only for the price that is not worth.

Well you GPU is completely bottlenecked by your cpu, get a new mobo and a quad asap, otherwise you lose out on most of the benefits of win7 and the gpu.

I wish I could Heliocon.

Right now the cash needs to go to the real world.

I'll make do with this for a while and see what happens.

I understand, I waited like 6+ years before getting a new system, it really is an investment. If it was me I would leave the cpu, unless you can get a second hand one really cheap its not worth buying in the long run (because in a year or two when you are able to upgrade that $ will be much better sent by going for a more "holistic" approach.)

Another thing you could try is overclocking the hell out of your CPU is possible to boost performance.

TUSA/TX-Gunslinger 04-18-2011 12:26 AM

Hey El - I think I have pretty much the same system as you, except I have a Q9650 in mine.

I'm not sure what you have for Graphics.

My Win7/64 system:
QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650, 4000 MHz (9 x 444)
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P
4 Gigs Corsair Dominator CM2X2048-8500C5D
ATI HD 5870 Cat 11.3

If you we are close enough in system - you might give me a tight set of benchmark settings and we can exchange Fraps results?

Give you an idea, depending on what you have for video. I also bought a Q9550 for another systems and was able to clock it just as high as my 9650. Q9550 is cheaper but has same specs, but lower listed clock.

S!

Gunny
