I assume you're not familiar with the theory of relativity?
Can't say I am myself, but I assume it applies here as when jumping on top of a moving train.

But, perhaps you're referring to the strong wind? :P

Here's that old video of a pilot bailing out, which isn't in the game because of performance reasons..

Also, although this animation works for a plane that is flying somewhat level, it would look quite odd when your plane is spinning out of control or flying upside down.

Tried the bail out. The first person is a good start, but could be better.

Should be a time interval between the Ctrl-E button push and the warp to outside of the cockpit. At the moment it feels more like a teleport than a bailout.

Better yet, make several key inputs required. Open canopy, disconnect oxygen and radio cables, undo straps and then over the side.

I even thought of the bailout as a "mini" game where you have to hit the correct key when prompted within a short time to get to the next step of the procedure (disconnect oxygen, release harness, climb out, jump)

mmh.. it sounds overly complicated to me, we have enough key to assign already. i would be happy with something like this:

- add a three second delay between Ctrl-E and the pilot actually exiting the cockpit

- manually deployable chute (maybe even with some probability of failure!)

- ability to look around when falling in 1st person view

- and for God's sake, add the sound of wind when the pilot is falling in 1st person view!!

In the few hours I've played this game, I still haven't made it to bail out lol
Can someone please give clear instructions on how to bail from a BF109?

ctrl+J to jettison canopy

ctrl+E to bail out

Disconnect oxygen and wiring tubes....hmm, I wouldn't like having them waving around as I'm falling...
surely: take a deep breath of oxygen, remove helmet and mask, then undo straps (don't undo the parachute straps!) and bail...?
I can't remember the exact AM plublication for bailing out, but there is mention to the safety issues surrounding the wiring leads and the oxygen hosing.

That's what I do, but my pilot is stuck in the cockpit!!!

I thought that maybe I should do any magic spells, but it seems that I'll have to try more and more and some time, eventually, he will decide to bail out :D

Isn't it such a cool feature? I remember requesting this, and I made a mod for IL-2 that tried to keep first person as long as possible. There is a slight graphical glitch where I seem to pass through the fuselage of the plane (right behind the seat) sometimes for a millisecond but it only a minor cosmetic imperfection.

Consider the time delay now introduced by having to manually open the canopy, then either rolling over or pushing the stick forward (get some negative G) as you initiate the bail out. This takes a bit longer than pressing one button in IL-2 Sturmovik.

Manual chute & be able to look around & violent sound windy sound effect = yes please!

I had the same problem. But I remember seeing Spitfire veterans describing how to do it, and in game it seems to work every time I tried it. Try this:

1. Open the canopy
2. Get ready to press the bail out button
3. (Rolling upside down first is ideal, but it works flying level too) push the stick forward (so the aircraft noses down - negative G-forces) and press the bail-out button at the same time - you'll get thrown out the cockpit instantly.
