Tick SSAO box for better looking graphics, but with a hit on performance, I think unticked gives a reduction in graphic quality compared with the normal graphic level pre-patch, if you get my meaning.

I don't know why, but I've always loved the quirkiness of the Defiant.
It's a cool looking plane IMO, and the idea behind it was something "new".

Somehow , in the night fighter role, it anticipated the German Schräge Musik concept.
I reckon it was quite effective in that role too during BoB.

LOL how is it new, its a monoplane equivalent of the Bristol Fighter. Nothing new about it just an old idea on a new aircraft and it didn't work... at least the bristol fighter had forward firing guns as well as a rear gunner :!:

The real unfortunate thing was...the Defiant's planned successor, the P.96's were never put into production. They would of been armed with 2 or 4 wing mounted 20mm cannon (depending on the model), in addition to the 4 x .303 mahine gun turret. They would of been powered by either the 2,300 HP Napier Sabre NS6SM engine (P.96B) with an estimated maximum speed of 392 MPH at 21,000 ft or the 2,300 HP Bristol Centaurus CE45M engine (P.96D) with an estimated maximum speed of 389 MPH at 21,000 ft. All that remains are some plans and a few wooden models.

The idea of getting a battery of machine guns on the back wasn't actually new, you're right :-P
But the Bristol fighter had forward firing machine guns; it was conceived as a pure fighter, (the forward MGs being the primary weapons) while the Defiant had all its armament on its back, and was conceived as an anti-bomber.
A new idea in fighter design development.

We all know how things went wrong with it... but I've always liked weird looking planes of that era.
I have a soft spot for the Roc too I must admit, and the Fulmar, the Whitley, the Hampden. :cool:
