I think that is overly simplistic to assume that you can simply subtract those numbers to find out what cod was consuming. What is the actual process using in task manager / process explorer?

Well, I garentee its CloD as windows does not magically start eating more ram. Although, I retested today and It took 55%, so I don't know what is going on.

i´ve learned a 32-bit system can´t handle more than 3,2GB at all. When Cod is using more than 3,2GB, then.......so the threat makes no sense for me.

If you have PAE on on a 32bit system running a 64bit capable CPU then wile what windows can see and report is 4gb less the memory address space of the graphics card & page file, however large address aware programs and applications can use ram >4gb independently & regardless of what windows reports to them.

When I used 32bit XP with PAE on with my i7 CPU some of the application I used could see and use all my 6gb of ram plus any amount of page file which they wouldn’t do if PAE was off or a 32bit CPU was used, simpaly becouse they were 32bit large address aware programs with a 64bit CPU on a 32bit OS. ;)

The process, which is called 'Launcher.exe' is followed by '*32' and once you've loaded into the map the process reaches about 1.2Gb.

It was still interesting to see how much RAM was being used, whether what was posted was an over simplification of what CoD used or not.

Lol... whether there needs to be an answer to the question is this program 32bit...

Yes its 32 bit. simply because you can't launch a 64bit program on a 32bit OS even if you have a 64bit capable cpu. There is nowhere any requirement to have a 64bit OS for this game. Therefore its 32bit.

As has been mentioned, a launcher needs to be either 64bit or 32bit just like in DCS A-10C. This game is written in 64bit but can be used with a 32bit launcher if you don't have a 64 bit platform.

Now we have concluded that its a 32bit program, then we know that for this game in particulair all ram over 4gig is overkill. yes you can run photoshop in the background and all other thingies, but IL2 Cliffs of Dover won't use more than approx 3.x gigs.

If it was a 64bit executable people on XP32 wouldn't be able to start the game which they obviously can.

You are correct in some sense, but...
Crysis and Crysis warhead ran on 32bit window (Auto detect) and ALSO ran on 64bit systems and was confirmed to be 64bit.

Then why the X64 executables...

Both came with two separate executables.
