I guess it's not mandatory to have Steam. This is probably the steam enabled version in a digital download release for people who like steam. Since we know there's another copy protection system as well, my guess is that the boxed editions will not require steam.

^ Pretty sure you're right with what you said.

Still asking myself if the true Steam download version will still make use of the Tages-like copy protection system. Some games sold on Steam do, even if it's kind of pointless due to the way Valve's system works. Even if EA Games isn't my favorite publisher, I still greatly appreciated it when they decided to remove all of their 5-time activation limits from their games sold on Steam.

Is there a "hard" collectors addition available anywhere?

To date, the only place I've seen a hard copy for sale is ubi.com, the publisher's website.

see also my thread http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=18308

Presumably that depends on servers and what version of the game they'll be running? Either the server follws steam, or you're in a pickle?

Here.(You don't need to speak German to order it, it is quite straightforward; using little guesswork. They ship abroad.)

I'm sure that Collectors Edition is always a 'hard' copy, isn't it? (shipped as a box with manual, map etc.)

I hope that is a complete misunderstanding. I will NOT purchase if I have to install steam.

Dont buy it then, its your loss.

I think that makes it pretty clear steam is needed.

But i reckon you need to get over yourself, its not the extreme ubi or rise of flight drm.

Probably the most user friendly and you can play offline.
