All we need is more moderators, with big ban hammers.

We need more responsible forum members.

Well obviously some people are never going to change, judging by some of the posters in the update threads.
Don't think I have ever been on an official forum where so much was tolerated.

Hmm...I don't think I've ever been on a forum where so many discuss posting! :D Everyone will be different. I always feel that the mods know when to step in when somebody is out of line. no harm done.

I've done a bit of googling, and it is possible with this type of forum (vbulletin) to make threads 'invite only', meaning that anyone can read them, but only people invited to comment can remark in them.

Aka sticky and locked threads?

I'd be with you Novotny if only it wouldn't make the problem even worse. There are right now only a half dozen Asshats who are utterly intolerable. I fear your suggestion might bring out the fringe Asshats, and cause a riot. I think that banning the utterly intolerable Asshats, and just letting the rest just fizzle out might be the best thing.

Alternatively, we could just put up with them as we do in the real world. There is, after all less of them here than "out there". Really, I mean it.

I guess luthier and Oleg are mature enough to ignore the bullsh1t - or worst case, find the ignore function themselves.

Novotny 02-05-2011 11:32 PM

Well, it was merely a suggestion and the points people have made are good. I agree it's an over-reaction on my part, and I shouldn't let things annoy me so much. It's only the internet, after all.

Happy flying one and all.
