Get some one to post the original [sound] part of config.ini and start from there.
Almost sounds like a hardware problem- not seated jacks etc.
I would, but mine is heavily altered to suit my gear.

The interesting part is in all other applications (games/media player) my audio system works as normal. The only thing i could think of myself is if somehow hyperlobby broke my IL2 settings when i loaded it up the first time i noticed the sound was absent. As in all other respects everything works as it always has. Joystick, mouse, keybinds all work normal. No monitor res changes or issues with basic connectivity to online servers.

Yet conversely i can play games such as world of warcraft or total annihilation without audio issue, and i spend countless hours on youtube or listening to music, again with no worries.

If someone could post a copy of the original config file regarding to the sound that would give me something to use as a base for finding if it is indeed an IL2 issue or something else (i hope its an easy fix lol)

I had the "no sound only in IL2"- problem just yesterday.
After some searching i found the error in the config.ini -> sound use=0 !!!
I really don't know how and when and from whom that was changed.

i've the same problem... and so my friend... sounds very low with Realtek HD... all sounds were here until i've installed teamspeak and try use it...

Edit: perhaps driver were corrupted so with a reinstall of audio driver/codecs all seems to be normal.

I had to reinstall :( It worked fine in another copy of the game with an IDENTICAL config.ini)

Sound problem AVG

I run win7 and had same issue. Recently had an AVG update and this fixed the problem. If you have AVG, try to update or remove.

I didnt change anything with this, i installed my game and patches and even went online that evening and it was all good, it went on for another few days before it just stopped. I found out my game sound had stopped working, when i loaded the game and it wasnt working. I still have all my patch archives - would it be worth uninstalling and reinstalling/patching again?

Hi again all, i've done a little toying around and i have discovered that i do actually have sound in IL2, but i have to max my speaker volume and plant my ear against the hardware itself in order to hear it. Im wondering if theres some way, perhaps in the conf file to adjust ingame volume. I tried using the regular hardware setup options from the ingame menu but they had no noticable effect (and are all maxed too now).

I just had this same issue.. I was lloing at one of my backups trying to figure out what happened.. What really freaked me out about it was that when I would move through the folders ... like E:>Backup>46 Backup>HSFX... I would hear the clicks as I went through the folders.. without even having 46 running.. but in the sim I got nothing..

Changing that line soled my issue though.. ~S~
