i will try to dig into this this week. but there is another option...it was a training gun or site. not far from where i live they used to train artillery troops and test guns....shooting them into the horizontal shaft of an old mine.

Thats one way of looking at it.

i had a look,as korsakov said fly north along the coast until your wings are level with sandwich on the map, look down to the left its 100 yards in from beach, its tiny and broken
maybe a 2 pounder,i landed next to it,but screenshot wont upload (edit took camera phone shot of screen ) |
The barrel is too long and the shield too round like to be a 2 or 18 pounder. Its no howitzer for sure.
|
i couldnt see a shield, maybe it symbolises the withdrawal from dunkirk??
|
The shield is there, just need to get a Po-2 and fly low and around it.
|
is this a different one from the one kav was talking about?
"You will fond it some few miles up the valley from dover. On the westernside. A bit far from the channel to be a channel gun. " AA guns had shields...look at the one pic of that bofors 40. |
The shield is enclosed so it cant point towards the air. Thats why I ruled it out. You can make out a viewing port on the picture, most AA guns didn't really need this unless used as a anti tank weapon.
