How can anyone make an objective test for something like that?
Xenos and RSX are almost as different in design as the Cell and Xenon are. One has more pipelines with dedicated functions, the other has fewer but with dual functions and higher flops per pipe. Both have the same speed 256gb gddram, the Xenos has a special extra 10mb dedicated to effects, the RSX has a high-bandwidth bus connecting it to the 3.2ghz system ram, which allows Cell spe's to be dedicated to gpu function.
The performance ceiling of both is theoretical, the only way to test it is to run software on them. Since they're so radically different, there's no way to test them with the same application cause you can't run one application on both machines. Even if you had one source that could be compiled the same on both machines, there'd be no way to say if its design were optimized equally for both.
But no, people usually can't tell the difference. Except maybe with something like killzone. I can't stand the graphics ho's anyhow. Give me a game not a graphics. Every big game that gets released there's a million kids droning on about the graphics. I think the graphics of almost all next-gen games are great.
... oh and I gotta say killzone is garbage, though I am prejudiced against fps games lately.
