Don't get me wrong - I haven't checked the leaderboards for a long time, but I don't like to see myself on the bottom of the end of game scoreboard. I think the better you get at something, the more it matters.
But just a reality check: the patch does not entirely fix this issue. If you clip a spitfire's wings at 10m and he instantly spirals into the ground, it can still more often than not register as a crash not a kill...
P.S: +several to Winny's post.

I think the game doesn't want to award kills for inflicting minor damage on a plane, so as long as nothing on the plane has black damage, it considers it flyable and blames the death on its pilot, no kill awarded. It would be better if any plane that crashes with 30 percent total damage, or at least one red wing, count as a kill for whoever caused the most damage
since they will never do that, I think the best possible fix would be for every crash to be -5 points, whether anyone gets a kill for it or not.
If everybody has more crashes than kills, I say everybody loses.
