Thanks Luthier,

i could see a little increase of the performance.

The AA seams to work much better and the landscape seams to be sharper. Furthermore the flickering of the trees is almost gone.

Over cities the frames drop to 15. But my CPU is still @ only 20% at all cores. Is it possible to assign the cores a higher priority?

If it is possible to get better framerates over cities, this will be the best simulation ever and if you can solve this issues until launch in the U.S. the game will be complete success.

On top of that at the coastline i can see block shadows on the steep coast.

Over water i still have tearing, while vsync is on!

Yeah I'm getting this as well, half a screen of game window and the rest desktop, while the GUI/Briefings etc are fullscreen.

Seeing an overall performance drop with this patch, I was running medium textures at 1900x1200 with a steady, if not brilliant framerate of 15-20 and no stutter after the last steam patch. With this beta patch, the stutter is back in a big way, even on low texture setting, definitely to do with the groundloading - buildings, trees etc. 24ish fps (slight increase) at 5000 feet, 13-15 still at 2000 feet, but the stutter is terrible again. Guessing this might be to do with the fact that it's now running at proper fullscreen resolution, so putting more strain on the gpu?

The texture quality setting seems to have less effect than it did before too. New briefings/etc all look great though. Thanks for all your hard work chaps!

Core i5 @ 3.6g overclocked.
ATI 5770 x 2 crossfired (only single card used tho).
Win 7 64.

Same Here.............. Gone back to previous version until that is fixed. Guess Luither is now in bed so no joy until next week!:(

When I select anything less than my native monitor resolution it runs in a window in spite of full screen checkbox being ticked. I assume 109 mixture/backfiring was not in patch as behaviour is still the same (quick launch mission - France - start at 200m imediateley get bumping/missfire with CEM & temp effects unless I go 100% throttle - as a workaround I'm flying with 100% throttle and using prop pitch to lower RPM's - workable for me as prop pitch is on a slider, but still a real pain- maybe the next patch.....)

Wait, this isn't true fullscreen?
I can still tab and have windows on top of the game while it's running.

I didn't think that was possible unless running in window mode.
My frame rates are also worse, and the game crashed for me..

Now i can play the game with my old 4870/512mb card!!!

S!

Got the same errors in Black Death when opening console. Posted them in separate thread in Technical Threads. There was a FPS boost for sure but stuttering came back more visibly when quickly testing Free Flight over Dover. Also got strange green grid anomaly on land over Calais. Extended to water. Will try clearing cache and see if it helps. Otherwise installed fine, like the new QMB interface. Would be nice to be able to change squadron too and not only skin and numbers.

Back to testing.

i'm sure that Vsync is not working.

Downloaded and installed the beta patch without problem. Correct version number is showing in title screen, app now appears to be running in true fullscreen mode and additional features such as quick mission pre-mission briefing screens are present, so I'm confident that the patch is installed and running correctly.

However, I am experiencing a couple of problem with terrain assets when I first load a mission - e.g. the free flight in a Hurricane over Dover quick mission. First, I can see all of the terrain textures loading during the first 10-20 seconds of the mission. Initially, my plane is flying over blank terrain which I can see slowly loading. From an immersion/playability standpoint, this visible texture loading really takes me out of the game. Second, even after all of the terrain textures appear to have completed loading, the vast majority of buildings are not displayed even after I have been flying around for several minutes. I can see the ground textures where the buildings should be displayed but no 3D building objects are present. Even if I fly away from the initial area for several minutes no 3D buildings show up in the new areas either. If I exit the mission and then refly, the terrain assets load very quickly and the buildings show up.

I suspect that the worker thread responsible for loading terrain assets is under so much load when a mission is first launched that it fails to load the building assets. On subsequent reflies, many of the assets are already cached and the loader is then able to load the building assets correctly too.

This issue occurs consistently and is repeatable and occurs across various in-game video settings e.g. buildings unlimited/high, building detail medium/high, terrain detail medium/high
