Well, I consider myself neutral in this issue - mostly because I have other hobbies so I am quite happy that I can devote time to them. ;) I am not ooh-aahing about CloD simply because there is IMO little to ooh-aah about. On the other hand I am not playing the dying swan just because of a computer game nor do I find the need to tear my hairs out in a public message board.

That said BlackSix here has the job I would not want for all the money in the world. He has to take the abuse and bad mood of various communities for which he is neither responsible nore accountable. That his frustration level is rising dangerously quick is not a surprise to me. So, in that respect, please throttle back a bit - BlackSix' heart will thank you in a decade or two. ;)

On the other hand I have a few direct comments at the 1C employee - simply as a channel to get some things to your boss (Ilya).

1.) The silent treatment Ilya gave to all those who cooperated with MG during the production of what was then Storm of War has now been expanded to the communities as a whole. It may fit his character to work quietly in a chamber and hope not to be bothered but it also sends a very strong "F*ck you!" signal to those who spent considerable time and effort into producing stuff for the release and now to the communities which don't see the most pressing current issues addressed. Nowadays, with several other development teams doing very commendable updates and community relations, this is not simply poor style but counter-productive.

2.) Any sequel title may be number one item on Maddox Games' list, but for the average customer it's currently simply irrelevant as it's not even announced nor more than a mere speck just above the horizon. Ilya can't honestly expect that any "news" about the work on this sequel will divert the attention of the customers away from the fact that the current release is in dire need of a major patch. It can't be a surprise that any update thread will always come back to the question that is burning: What is happening WRT the patch for Clod? Answering that question, and only that, will ease the strain and no amount of 3D work on objects of some sequel will alleviate the scorn the various boards are pouring over MG at the moment.

3.) I don't know what happened during the years of development and quite honestly I don't care, I know Ilya is not responsible for the mess CloD was at release but his handling of customer relations alone has done additional heavy damage to the already tarnished image of Maddox Games ... That he must be aware of and if he's not it's about damn time someone tells him. You can't treat people (customers of your product at that) like nagging idiots and expect them to salivate like the dogs of Pavlov. Not if you want them to buy further products ...

And now I'm off to my modelling workplace.

If Ilya reads ONE post on this forum, please for god's sake let it be this one.

Unless it gets mysteriously deleted of course...

blacksix hello!
what is your problem? You threaten your clientele? Hello, your product stands or falls with your clientele! You insult us! We have paid for this game and you f..k us day by day! I was a fanboy until now, but enough is enough! I play this game for years and have paid many euros to 1c in the last decade! I have tuned my PC so that the game is running-without success! For what? To let me insulting by you? I think we deserve an apology! Maybe you can treat your clientele in Russia like that, but not in the rest of the world! I hope you considered again in the future as you treat your clientele! And now you can ban me or something! Who cares!
PS: Sorry for my english, but maybe somebody from the comunity can translate it for you!!!!

carguy_ 03-14-2012 03:39 PM

Actually, this entire thread PRECISELY shows why BlackSix is considering cutting off the updates. The best example was tank vids - people flamed that thread to bits.

BlackSix, I understand if you or 1C goes silent. The attitude many people here put up deserves just that.
