Just to clarify, if you have the notion that there is an office in Russia with 12 guys all huddled around working on IL2's and Yak's while accross the hall a guy thinks to himself.. what can I try and fix in CoC while the other guys build the next add on you are wildly mistaken :)

3D model makers make 3D models.. its what they do.. there is an amazing AD-4 Skyraider and Mig15bis done as well..but that doesn't mean that it is taking 1 ounce of resources away from getting the game back on its feet.

There is a plan for this engine, to continue to improve, optimize, add new content, new maps, theaters, etc. They have no plans to drop support for this any more than they dropped it for IL2. They are really scrambling right now to get things fixed up.. in reality they've done some amazing things in a month given the complexity of the core code.. I would expect to see a very high tempo of fixes and improvements for the next several months until it reaches a level they are comfortable with, and then they will continue to improve it as they add new things to the game..

They are very much in this for the long haul.. grab a seat, this is how IL2 started and went on for 10 years.. and the possible ceiling for this engine is 10X what IL2 is limited to

Happy VE day guys (sorry i'm a couple of days late, in Oz we tend to focus on ANZAC day and VJ day).
The Il2 series really opened my eyes to the Eastern front and put the battle in the West into perspective for me. I've learned a lot from your work and thoroughly enjoyed myself at the same time.

Had Luthier showed us some shots of North Africa, then people would be jumping up and down that they wanted the Pacific theatre instead.

Had it been the Pacific theatre, people would jump up and down that they wanted the eastern front instead.

It's all about "me, me, me."

Luthier comes on here to wish us happy VE day, an important holiday in Russia, and as an aside shows us a glimpse of the future of the series with a perfectly appropriate shot of an Il-2 Sturmovik, which was one of the biggest symbols of Russian resistance of the war.

Guess what? He didn't have to come out here and show us anything! People whine about lack of communication etc and fair enough, some of it is warranted, but my God when Luthier does show up he gets shot down in quick order. Like now.

As for some of the responses in this thread...it turns my stomach. This was a thread about rememberance and the sacrifice made by those brave soldiers...but no, instead it's given the whiners another reason to whine and bitch.
Predictable.

This thread should not have gone in the direction it did. A lot of you should be ashamed and embarassed.

I had a peaceful, yet eventful VE day, spent with friends and family. Hope yours was good too, Luthier.

Very much looking forward to more progress, both with CloD and with the expansions.

Happy VE-Day to you too, guys. Some of us are historians at heart, and we need to remember so that the same historical mistakes aren't repeated.

I think Luthier opened a can of worms when he added the 2 screenshots to the VE day thread. If he wanted to show a glimpse into the crystal ball, fine. He should have made 2 separate posts.

+1 as well.

For goodness sake guy, Luthier tries to share something positive and exciting about the future, while he probably spends 99.99% of the time with his nose deep in the bugs, and all a bunch of you find to do is try to kick his head back in the negative. Do you really think he's deprived of negative feedback lately, do you really think a day spent talking about the future is so bad and misplaced, really? I wonder how you guys would feel if other would publicly do that to you whenever you don't deliver as well as expected in your own job, seriously...

Anyway, it's great to imagine that we might fly IL2s and FW190 with the same kind of details as we have in the Spits and BF109! But please keep the system of merged installations of CoD + whatever comes next in the same way as each iteration of IL2 could be merged with all the previous ones for the last gen!

I've put DAYS into beta-testing CoD for the developers. They haven't paid me...no, indeed, I PAID THEM. So the least I expect, after a long weekend, is some bloody word on what's being done to get the MP working again, not to mention the 101 other major issues that still haven't been fixed. Not some bollocks about an add-on/expansion months down the road.

Or am I being unreasonable? Please sir, when might I expect to be able to actually play the effing game I bought instead of endlessly TESTING IT?

I do feel for all of you unhappy people out there but if this game is affecting you that much you've got other issues to deal with like getting a life. I have the game and no its not perfect yet. I actually play il2 1946 way more and enjoy it more than I do cod. I'm ok with cod at this time, it will get fixed somehow. If not by the devs....... then guess what this community has some of the best people (modders) that will take over if need be. The cat is out of the bag and there is no getting it back in......
