Actually the best German twin engined plane of the war, would probably have been the Do 335...

The He 219 was a nice night fighter, but little else.

One of the most widely used nightfighters for the germans was the Bf-110 as far as I know, they were reliable gunnery platforms and had the advantage of a rear gunner increasing the overall fire power and decreasing the need to maneuver when overshooting targets. I think some of them were fit with a radar, late war units... however I don't really know for sure.

Bf-109s were also used of course among many others :cool:
