OK, Friday is over in Moscow and central Europe now.
Oleg has of course not mentioned Fridays in particular, but, you know, back in 2002-2003 fridays was a real treat! Allways started work with a peek into the UBIZoo. (Wich by the way wasn't a zoo back then) There were at least updates every fortnight and free, totally unexpected patches every now and then that not only implemented fixes but whole new aircraft and objects! Will we ever se such times again? I doubt it. Will Oleg deleiver an astonishing new game before next summer? I think so.

Olegs last visit to this forum was august 5th, 2009. At least under his own log-in.

After all; this is an Il-2 forum, and Oleg is not working on Il-2 anymore if I understand him correctly.
All the latest news has been released on SimHQ.
It seems like news are beeing released as interviews on SimHQ, at least until SOW:BOB gets its own homepage.
I'm really curious about why the game hasn't it's own homepage yet. There might be a plethora of plausible reasons.
I still think Oleg ment it when he in november 2008 announced that the homepage would be up before christmas 2008. Why the page has been delayed is one of lifes unanswerd quetions.
I also still think Oleg ment it when he said new pictures would be released in September 2009. So I'll continue to pop in every day to check.

I'd like to place my order for an IL2 ski hat please. Eye holes are a bonus but not necessary though I'll pay a bit extra for them if needed. A yellow hat with red IL2 logo would be preferable.

The thing I was thinking of regarding possible release of 4.09 was this post made Sunchaser on Wednesday over at SimHQ:

It would be very nice to see 409 sometime soon. Not sure what "a day or two" translates into in Oleg-time however. Something similar was said prior to a patch that was due after PF and it was the best part of six months. I was thinking more of SOW, I'd put real money down on not seeing anything about that for a good long while yet.

So, even if the patch will be ready today or tomorrow doesn't mean the release or any news are close.

You posted a link to your source, which is a forum for mods, which again is forbidden. So I was just hoping you don't spoil the news of this pleasant evening and you asured yourself that this comment is legally posted here. After all, this announcement has not take place, yet ;)

I think it its absoulutely possible that there might come some pictures or info within September.

The game should be more than 90% ready if I have understood things correctly, and thus there should be really a lot to show. But Oleg doesn't show anything, and I'm quite sure he has a good reason for it. I just can't think of what that reason is.
The fact that www.stormofwar.com seem to belong to UBISoft must be a minor problem. Just give the game another name.
What could it be other than that?
Problems with digital rights management or copy protections shouldn't prohibit the release of pictures and videoes.
Could there be some problems between developer and publisher that are yet not sorted out? He still could release some computer specs..

I don't get it. But I have absolutely no knowlegde of what kind of hurdles and problems you have to solve before you start to promote an upcoming game. It seems to me though, as if Oleg has been quite close to starting the PR-work several times, but then has been held back.

September is far from over, so I'm still hoping.

I could understand it the way things were before, but since development was taken over by 3rd party, IMHO the fundamentation of this ban grows a bit weak. I hope that with the official statement about the patch this will be somewhat lifted or at least no longer prosecuted.

I have to admit I myself will be pretty damn dissappointed if nothing is posted in September. I've been the patient good boy and haven't raised my hackles regarding BoB, but I've been waiting since 2004 when BoB was announced (though it may have been 2003. I THINK it was almost a year from FB's release that BoB was mentioned).

I understand the path a game's developement takes isn't always clear and things happen, but it's time. I know Oleg's stated 'real' developement started in 07, but the game was annonced farther back than that - complete with Hurricaine renderings.

IMHO there must be some legal reason why Oleg is effectively showing us nothing, In June Oleg stated the Game was 80% finished so by now it must be well on its way to completion, but we have seen no in game footage since the start of development. You would also think that if the game was nearly finished Oleg would be starting the marketing process but we have seen nothing. On the upside Oleg did say that he expected SOW to go gold before October 2010 its just whether we believe him, the jury is out.

While I can't say why he doesn't meet his own personal estimates (note the words PERSONAL and ESTIMATES), there question why he even makes those statements is quite easy to answer: Because that is largely the only question of this community. ;)

I kind of wonder if the project really has been canceled for some time now and Oleg and a few of his more devoted team members are trying to finish the project as a indi sim and not let on, maybe out of embarrassement as he doesn't want to let the community/fans down. All of which could be for the lack of updates and so forth. Again its just a thought.

I was at a wedding back in Dec 03. One of the guests looked exactly like the pictures I've seen of Oleg Maddox. He dressed rather European verses the standard U.S. style of dress. He had an accent, but his English was pretty good. Somewhat stilted, but very good none the less. I WAS going to ask him if he was the creator of IL2. The chances being so astronomical I didn't bother. To this day the likeness was so uncanny I kinda wish I asked.

That's two pretty superficial conclusions:

1. Considering Oleg posted several times, that he doesn't have the time to log in from his office-PC to the forums, why do you deny the possibility that he still accesses the forum from another PC and/or without logging in?
I didn't log in over half a year here, but visited the website at least twice a day over that period of time.

The usual pattern of events is for the content to be submitted to MG. It languishes in their office for an extended period. In the meantime, 3rd party contributors (DT) continue to finish off other content. This makes the release of the original patch seem uneconomical, and it is eventually decided to roll the new content into the current patch as well. The cycle of testing, compiling and waiting begins again.

Personally I don't expect 409 before April 2010.

I've seen more updates on the not to be mentioned ever so naughty and ever so forbidden mod sites.
Those good people produced planes and update pictures by the wagonloads. And they DO have other jobs and do this kind of work in their spare time.
Now why can Oleg not be botherd to post a screeny or two here or even on some vague website nobody has ever heard off?
It is part of his job to keep his customers interested in his companies work.
If the good man fails to do so he is not doing his job very well.
It could be wise to start to contact any of Olegs other partners or teamworker to discuss Olegs place in the company.

I have the highest regard for the modders and never understood why Oleg was so against the modding people in the first place.( other than online cheating possibilities).
Mods made Oblivion and fallout3 the succes that they are still today.
Most people do not play IL2 online so no problems with mods there.
The modding community either banned by Oleg or allowed with the new patch-team has made IL2 a much better game and deserve more praise by Oleg then they have had till now.

We know that Ilya (Oleg's right hand man) has moved to America which is strange if we believe what Oleg has told us that SOW will be released within a year.
