why are 1c 505 games pretending that giving us 40+ planes and releasing DLC later is so great for us?
dont get me wrong the 40+ planes is good, it means they are competing with HAWX, but lets not pretend that not giving us the cockpits and releasing them as DLC later is doing US a favour.... there's no way its going to be FREE DLC, we're going to have to pay for it. nevermind the issues of some people being disadvantaged by cockpits, while others dont have any.
Im not overly bothered, and im sure ill download it, but it does grind my gears that its billed as some massive favour to us. Yes id rather have 40 planes than 12, for that im truely greatful, but dont tell me im not going to have to pick up the tab for it through DLC.
discuss..... :)

maybe its becaus its only 49.99 not even a full price for a game, i wouldnt mind paying the 800-1000 points ($12.50) for the new material. I didnt like Hawx either.

its because originally, having 40+ flyable planes was never even part of the equation. only the planes that you use in the campaign were going to be available. a last minute decision was made to make them all flyable, and pushing the game back further to create 30 more cockpit views wasn't an option. so yeah, it kind of is a favor to us, there are tons of threads on this. have a look around.

well over here it IS going to be £39.99 which is alot of money for a game, especially one that isnt finished due to indecision.
like i said, dont get me wrong im greatful for the extra planes, it will be amazing, but id rather wait and part with my money for a finished game, than pay full price now, and then top it up for another £10, later, i dont know how 49.99 dollers equates at the current exchange rate but we here in england are not getting the same great deal you guys are.
and i know that it wasnt originally intended, im just saying lets not pretend its a favour when ultimately that "favour is going to hit us in the pocket". maybe not for people state-side, but it will over here.

Anton also said they will include them with OTHER DLC.
For example new maps/planes + cockpits.

I just looked up a price and its 30.80 (you fancy symbol for money) to our 49.99. and the DLC for 1000 MS pts will only be $12.50 to your 7.7 (fancy symbol) So we are saving around 15 pounds?

also driving up the cost, once you add new maps DLC prices go up cus theres more in it,
again DLC is great as optional xtras, but some things should come as standard and are worth waiting for, cockpits imho are exactly that.
especially when u consider than if this DLC is optional, some people will choose not to download it so their view arent obscured, it creates an un-level playing field.
im curious to see how big these arenas will be, e.g. round flight times etc. i hope its not limited by time but by points, or your at least allowed to choose etc. that would be fantastic.

fancy symbol = a pound sign, and there we go, you're saving £10 more than we are, and 1000 MS points to the pound is also around about £10, so technically you save $20 US, which is great for you, but not for UK people. it's a little tight of the company. I wonder why there's such a big gap in price accross the pond, cus usually they're pretty similar. or at least they are with canada's market.

I think now is a lil too early to start complaining. The developers have really gone to bat for us with the suits and I am sure whatever DLC(s) they release will maintain the quality we have come to expect.
Do you think anyone at EA would beg to do MORE work just to appease the fans?

i'm pretty sure the host will have the option to force everyone in his game to use the same view. so if you wanted, you could d/l the expansion, and only allow planes that have cockpits in your game and then force everyone to use only that view. that way, you could lock out superman view altogether.:o

It is a favour to give us more planes. Of course no company does favours to their customers because they feel social, it's to make money. But when I get a good product, I'm happy when the company creating it earns money and is able to give me my next fix. ;)
I ordered my copy via Amazon UK. They offer it for GBP 27.96. To get it quickly I am paying another GBP 25.00 for express delivery though :(

I think the US are getting a good deal, they are paying 60% game price and then download DLC for 25% game price. thats fine, but in the UK, we're paying 100% game price, and then expected to top up the rest of it for another 25% game price.
If they released the DLC cockpits for free (which some games do do free DLC) then all is well with the world, i just think its a little cheeky to release a technically unfinished game. as wonderful as it is to give us an extra 30 planes.
thats like playing £40 for Modern Warfare 2, but having to download the camouflage patterns for the players later, and in the mean time you're walking around in an orange jumpsuit. it's just a ltitle bit cheeky.
and please understand its not a criticism of the lack of cockpits, thats not really what i take issue with, its the PRICE, the US seems to be getting a good deal, but UK isnt.
let me break it down price wise
US prices (in GPB £)
Standard Game e.g. Modern Warfare 2 = £40
Downloadable content = 800 MS points = £8
IL-2 Birds of Prey = £25-£30
DLC = 800-100 MS Points = £8-£10.
Fair deal.
UK Prices (in GBP £)
Modern Warfare 2 = £40
DLC = £8 (average yes?)
IL2 = £40
DLC = £8-£10
now do you understand my gripe?
i dont mind DLC or lack of cockpits but a full price game on one side of the atlantic, and a 60% price game on the other is a little cheeky.
and thats ignoring the whole some people have obscured views and some people dont issue.

you can get it for £30, but retail is the full £50 with most shops selling at £40, 1k MS points is £8.50, it's effing expensive over here, way out of line with exchange rates, rip off Britain and all that.

damn right!
but if the host had the option to filter it that would be a more than acceptable feature. (Jasta)
and £30 on amazon is pretty amazing, but then u have to pay through the nose to get it at a reasonable pace :)

I'm living in Austria - so the delivery for you may even be free of charge and quick. I just was forced to pay extra because the EU version is delayed by our German neighbours who have a passion for censorship...

No, they're afraid that the next amok kid will steal a plane to mow down his class mates... According to some politicians computer games are the cause of all evil in the world. :rolleyes:

amazon do free delivery in the UK but it takes AGES, so i just pay the extra £2 for first class, the game on amazon is £28 so with delivery brings it to an even £30, bargain i thought :D

oh yes i forgot that anyone who plays a computer game, instantly tries to re-enact it.... I'll never forget the trouble I got into after playing Tiger Woods Golf.... I got two Bogey's and only one Par on the Ventnor Golf Course on the Isle of Wight... I let my family down, my friends down, and most importantly I let myself down :)
its ridiculous isn't it :)
sadly I have very little cash, but will use Gamestation's trade in feature to buy it friday morning :)
See, dont get me wrong, I partly understand why germany has this very strict view on anything relating to that era. but also.... you cant just brush over it and forget it by taking a few swastikas out of a game. talk about focusing on the little things :) if someone was holding a Rally then fair enough but its just a computer game.
ho hum.
