View Full Version : Quick question about training for sim

So, basically this is my first serious attempt at a flight sim, so I got an av8r joystick which has made things a little easier on sim, but still having quite a few problems.
My question is, does anyone know if in the full game there is a training option for newbies like myself going into sim thats quite robust and explains what button does what, what it's for etc etc (also where the hell have the buttons been mapped on my av8r, can't for the life of me figure out what button is for what on it at times).
Anyone know what the training is like in the fullgame compared to the demo?

The retail version will have a training mode for all 40+ aircraft. You can choose to fly them in simulator mode and choose your time of day, enemies, weather, etc.

All we know is weather, so I am guessing rain, don't know.
This game is only for consoles and handhelds, no pc.

High wind flying would be great! Then you can't represent real flying without going into crosswind landings. It looks like there's a lot of potential for different weather scenarios, but I don't know EVERYTHING. I'm not the lesser deity Baal from the early Babylonian era.

Yeah xNikex, you say something like that when we're talking about $5 content and free t-shirts, people are gonna notice.

Sounds good, it might be useful to practice with an unfamiliar plane before flying a real mission.
It will be interesting to see how far they take the weather options though.

I believe Anton said there is a Storm setting for the weather. As for high winds, it is unknown.

If you can make it rain I hope the water rolls off of the canopy.

Ist the training mode more like "free practice", I get the feeling the OP is asking about something more structured?
Suppose one of the forum aces could always offer "sim flight for newbies" lessons on a private MP server.

This is a good idea but since we have no idea how the online modes are even going to work. We will have to wait and see.
Hopefully a person can host a room and allow or deny people at his leisure.

Yeah I was thinking more along the lines of a tutorial. Just abit annoying if I have an already steep learning curve getting made steeper by not having a sort of sim tutorial. I'm sure there are other people out there who are flight sim newbies but only are buying the game for the simulation setting.
No biggie just means I'll have loads of hours of trial and error.
I like the idea about a MP room with some vets teaching people though, seems pretty cool.

i kept crashing the mustang on sim setting, just simple turns had me spinning, hopefully a stick will improve my flying. but a tutorial and free flight mode would be great

a free flight mode would be good, but multiplayer.
Its what other console flying games lack, the closest thing to it is prob over g. Its what some console players like to do. Get a room together and just fly around, landings, take offs, generally enjoying things.

If its got a similar set of game choices as most other 360 games this would be easy enough to work around with a private server, just make sure anyone you invite knows what's going on before they join or they'll strafe you all on your approach;-).

If we can do a private server. I'm sure everybody would want this.
