Poll of the Day
Which scheduled September release are you most looking forward to?
Aion
Champions Online
Guitar Hero 5
Halo 3: ODST
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2
Scribblenauts
SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny
The Beatles: Rock Band
Wet
As you can see BOP is no where to be found despite the fact that GameFAQS listed 10 choices for which Sept game are you most looking forward.
When I hear people on this board say this game has a big following or this is one of the bigger games in Sept or this is one of the A list titles in Sept it just makes me laugh.
The simple fact is there is extremely few people interested in BOP or HOE these types of games are very niche. The game will not sell good at all.

Dennis, why do you post on here. Since you obviously have no interest in this game. We know the possibility of BoP not selling well, but WE all know, is that your HOE won't sell half as much as BoP. So either get involved in trying to add hype to BoP or just shut your damn mouth, and quit trying to drag on that others are more interested in other games. WE already know this genre of games is niche, and there's no reason to keep telling us over and over again. But we don't care what others think of this game, we will enjoy it, and those who want a realistic and accurate game of what WW2 flying was like, will agree this is the game for them.
Il-2 Sturmovik has never been a mainstream game, or should it be really. If this game did go really main stream, then some how it could probably be completely ruined. But I don't think Anton and the others would allow that to happen. So either sit down, and add helpful hints and such to the boards, or just leave and let us enjoy our little niche BoP.

You can't even vote for BOP or HOE because they're not in the list of available choices...

Thanks Nostradamus. I've never even heard of that site and I'm buying it. You're basing your entire argument on one source? You'll do well in Government!

Who are The Beatles? Can't see THAT selling well...

Wow... This is completely pointless. Can you even choose BoP in this poll?
Also, as far as my understanding goes, hasn't BoP already gone Gold in pre-orders alone? Even at my local Gamestop, the only game that has more pre-orders than this game is ODST.
No one has reserved HOE at the store.
Dennis, do you really have the time to search the internet for useless polls that aren't even relevant to simply piss off the hardcore fanbase that this forum has?
You remind me of most things that I dislike.
Edit: Sorry, Beatles for Rockband has the most reserves at my local Gamestop. Followed by ODST then IL2.

No mention of Dirt2 either. And Dirt2 IS going to be big.

No BOP is not an available choice in the poll, neither is HOE or Dirt 2

You make a point about DiRT 2, I think that list is off. Anyway, personally I don't give a damn whether this game is popular with everyone or not. Obviously I'd like it to do well so there'll be a sequel, but flight simulation isn't a huge genera, so I wouldn't except it to be selling as well as Halo anyway. I'm just hoping it will be good enough to meet my standards.

You know, in online games, there's a lot of trash-talking about who's the best.
With some of the cool Birds of Prey videos on youtube, you have to imagine it generates some interest.
Now combine cool user made online dogfight videos with the fact that most every gamer thinks they are the best - and you have a recruiting tool to try and suck in a larger player base.
If we get camera controls useful for making movies from online action replays - then users can flood youtube with cool dogfights showing off an encounter in which they "pwned" somebody. Talk about your skills and what not - I'm sure every gamer thinks they are "skilled", but can they apply it to flying with guns?
Seriously, combat flying games are fun - it's just the learning curve that people have to get over to get them hooked on the game. I think with the beauty of the sim and the ego of gamers in general - we can goad people into working through the learning curve to enjoy the game.
The first time I saw IL2 was an online dogfight on youtube and I went and picked the game up. We can promote the game ourselves through user created videos fairly easily.

We already know flight simulation is a VERY niche genre. Less then 1% of the gaming community are flight simmers.
Besides, gamefaq's #1 game is Batman...I too think that they are a 'little' off.

A game doesn't have to sell like Halo to be a success. I believe a goal was posted on the forum and it sounded reasonable for the genre compared to the number of gamers out there. Those game sites cater to teen/pre-teen for the most part, so it's not surprising this game isn't on their radar. The rest of us need games that interest us too. ;)

Sorry, but Batman IS a great video game. It`ll probably make No.2 after Modern Warfare 2 in most GOTY charts on most polls.
I don't see why most people who own an xbox or ps3 and have access to the internet wouldn't know about it, since theres a very prominent demo on the Playstation store, and I imagine the same on xbox. I think that most people who are interested in games that feature 'flying around and shooting things' would be impressed with the il-2 demo, whether they prefer the arcade or sim style.
I don't see how that poll on gamefaqs proves anything though.

That's exactly it, the poll doesn't prove anything except revealing games that are already said to be long awaited and popular. The poll means absolutely nothing.

I notice the trailer on Youtube has over 150 000 views. That's not even the officially hosted version.
Battlefield trailer has about 200 000 views and has sold over 1 million copies.

Okay, I think this thread has run its course. It doesn't prove anything and doesn't contribute to discussions or BoP.
We already know IL2 is a VERY niche genre. I think everyone here is aware it won't beat other games like HALO, FPS's, and other popular console titles.
