Hi,
I used to play the original Il2 Sturmovik game but haven't played in a long, long time. I'm now looking to get back into things and am more than a little confused about the various add-ons, standalones and patches available. So I have two simple questions - what should I buy and what should I download?
Thanks,
Dan

Hi
IL2 1946 DVD
You can "google" for it.
or
http://www.ubi.com/US/Games/Info.aspx?pId=5163
Then you need the v408m update/patch
http://www.ubi.com/US/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=2176
There's also a v4091bm beta with an official release comming soon.

Hi,
I've just installed the game and am having a great time reacquainting myself. The Sparrowhawk doesn't seem to be in it but there are a few Italian fighters there - Macchis and Fiats.
One question though, the Macchi gunsight seems off-center - does anyone know if that's by design or if I need to map a key to center it?
Cheers,
Dan

Shift + F1
This centres the Bf109 sights too.
You can use Shift F1 in many cockpits as it shifts the pilots seat/view forwards, as opposed to zoom view forwards
Have fun

DanLewis,
If you don't have trackir the best way to center the sights is pressing F1, just like Alpha said. However, if you are a Trackir user, the best way to center it is by moving your head to the bottom left corner just a bit and CENTER THE TRACKIR DEVICE VIEW, then when you move your head back to the normal position the sight will be centered.... it's a trial-error practice until you get it where you want it... this way you'll be able to keep using your 6 DOF with trackir, an option that dissapears when using the F1 function, that will only allow you to turn your head, and not "drag" the view to the sides, front, back, etc.
Good luck

Well he's going to officially have to wait for v409m for 6dof
Seeing as mod discussion here is prohibited :)

Really?
6dof will be in the next official patch? Or just for the new aircraft?

What do we do then with the 4.09m patch when it´s out as it´s made by modders? Can we talk about it then?

Well its officially released by 1c most past patches/updates were made by 3rd party modellers planes and maps etc, so this is no different just that it becomes official.
