Could someone please explain to me how trim works, and how to activate it on the game.
Thanks :D

trim used to counter the lift of the wings to keep level flight and the torque of the propeller.
German planes typically only have elevator trim and have the other trim preset on the ground using flettner tabs. Most British planes have rudder and elevator trim and most US planes have trim on all three axis.
Trim is massivly important, it means the pilot can 'dial in' a direction they want, it also means that they are not fighting the stick to keep the plane straight/level or at a desired angle. In real life this means a pilot on a 4 hour sortie isn't fatigued by having to keep a constant 10lbs or more pressure on the stick of rudders.

Ok that's great, but how does it work In the game, how do you set the trim exactly? Is there any way to tell when it's set?

First you have to be playing in sim mode, when you get the plane flying level hit the trim button and you should be able to let the tension go on your stick and you should continue to fly relatively level with less effort.

oh ok thanks, is there any visual sign to show that it is set? How long do you have to hold the button for? It's the 'a' button on the 360 right?

You just tap A where you want your trim to be.
So if you're rolling left, then put pressure to the right until you're level and tap A.

I don't know if this will factor into the game or not, but in the Luftwaffe only the 190 series had aileron trim in addition to elevator trim. Most fighters of the era also had rudder trim. If it goes anything like the real world, you are going to trim and retrim constantly. I fly a 182 long distance almost daily and there are all kinds of rudder/elevator trim adjustments. I guess we have to wait until next week and find out how it's all going to go down.

It certainly factors in airspeed, but not sure about anything like altitude or wind. Is there even wind in this game?
I haven't done too much level flight in the game - normally throwing it about, seeing how hard I can push her.

Ah so thats why I can't get the trim to stop the torque rolling the Spitfire to the left all the time. It doesn't have aileron trim?
to be honest I perform better on sim ignoring trim and just getting into the targets..my top score and kill count did not involve trim at all...I might use it on a bomber aircraft to line up then focus on the bomb sight....
