Its frustrating for fans of the Maddox IL-2 series to be kept in the dark about the PC version of BOB/Storm of wars. Why has there been no developer updates on progress? I guess the team are concentrating on the console release? Some info would be appreciated even if its to tell us the project is on hold.

I'd like to second that question. Storm of War is probably the most important simulator to come in years, yet there's absolutely no news.
Is it still being developed?

There use to be a whole forum for it, but now I can't find it. In addition it couldn't have been dropped, it is one of the most anticipated flight simulators. I think it was sidetracked by the new IL-2 development, but with that out of the way, I hope it is picked up again.

Last update of any description was in June when Oleg did an interview with Simhq, to be honest there was nothing in the interview that most didn't already know. Oleg did say that there would be in game screenshots from September onwards but at this point these seem to have been forgotten along with earlier teasers such as system specs and a dedicated SOW website. One good bit of news though was that Oleg did say that SOW will definatley go gold for the BOB anniversary in September 2010 so we should see the whole project kick up a gear very soon.

There is progress ..... just hang on now. There was a time when this was not true.
We are finally on an approach vector to landing this baby ......
Oleg will deliver.

Hi Protos!
This is the second time in a week or so that you are more than indicating that:
a) SOW:BOB have gathered momentum after a period of little activity, and
b) that you know more about SOW:BOB than us other foum members.
Can you back this up in any way?

One of the most prescient observations made on this forum, in quite some time.

a) This is not really news ..... many people had some inkling of this.
b) don't know if I do or not ..... just share what I can, while maintaining the confidentiality of private friendships I have in the sim. Been around a long time ....... set up one of the first dedicated servers way back when.... I am pushing (where I can) for a return to what I consider the 'Golden Age' of IL2.
I lobby for the things I believe in. I just don't do it here.

Uhhh... I think he said that we'd definitely be flying it by Sep 2010, which I assumed meant Jul planned release, plus two weeks or so.

He also said it had to be out by Christmas, 2007.

Sure, but he'd be nuts to miss out on the extra interest in the subject around the 60th anniversary of BoB, I'd be making every effort to have it on shelves by August at the very latest.

If its going to be out by Next september or before the marketing process should be about to begin, If we dont see some sort of publicity soon then I would be doubtful of seeing it on the shelves in August.

1. There are NOT aliens at Area 51.
2. Lee Harvey Oswald worked alone.
3. Bin Laden is alive until I see evidence otherwise.
4. East German women's swim team used roids in the 60's and 70's
5. The moon is NOT made of cheese
6. BoB:SoW Does NOT have a specific target release date yet.
...be sure.

All I can tell you from my secret resources, is that SoW might be close to a release date and might not be.
I'm deep into this thing, and OM has made me swear that no real information will get out of my mouth. He didn't mention other parts of my body, which make sounds as well.
If only I could talk to you, I would tell you nothing, cause I'm not allowed by the "Secret Society of Those Who Know", in which I'm a VP.
If I broke my oath, Batman would hunt me to death.
Please don't ask for more information, for I shall not tell.
Thank you for understanding.

To those saying Oleg said we would 100% sure see a BOB:SOw release in september 2010, here is the quote. Higlighted a few parts as people seem to twist just about everything to their own liking out of the last interviews.
Doug: You said recently you want it released for the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. That would be in September 2010. Are you confident flight simmers around the world will be flying Storm of War: Battle of Britain in October 2010?
Oleg: Yes, it is our general plan. Maybe it will arrive earlier. I can't say right now the exact date. But by October 2010 (if not before) Storm of War: Battle of Britain should have many thousands of users.
I myself can't see him use any words like : Will be out, we will most definitely be flying it then or anything.
Should, planned, hope and maybe have very different meanings.

The number one question that I have is Minimum System Requirements
to run the game. I would hope that this information will soon be available...I would rather see that than an ingame screenshot!!!!!!!!

Nooo! Curse you!
Gimme in game screenshots and videos!
Then let me go rob a bank to get the funds needed to build a monster PC AFTER I realise SOW makes my current PC cough up blood.
These things must happen in this order!
