View Full Version : Game not recognizing trackpad?

I just installed King's Bounty (after purchasing it from Gamersgate) on my new Lenovo Ideapad. The game seemed to install fine, and I ran the 1.7 patch, which also seemed to work. When I run the game, however, I arrive at the title screen and there is no mouse pointer anywhere on screen -- it's not visible. I think it might still be there, invisible, because if I move the trackpad around enough, at times one of the menu options at the bottom of the screen will be highlighted. But this is basically non-functional -- I can't start a new game like this, let alone play the game.

When I Alt-Tab back to the desktop, my mouse pointer is there again, so I know the device itself is working -- just not in King's Bounty. I searched the forums and couldn't find a thread on this. I haven't played any PC games in a long time, so I'm at a loss for figuring out what the problem is here or how to fix it. Any ideas?

EDIT: Sorry, I realize I should have put in the specs of my laptop. I don't have it front of me, so I'm not sure what drivers are on the card, but the system is a Lenovo IdeaPad Y530:

* Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P7350 ( 2GHz 1GHz 3MB )
* 3 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz
* NVIDIA GeForce 9300M 256MB
* Vista (home edition, I think)

From what little I know, I'm led to believe that video card should be enough to handle the game (and in any event, it boots up okay). Could it be some video card driver issue that is making the mouse pointer be invisible?

EDIT: A little googling around and coming across this page (http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/neverwinter-nights-2-80/cant-get-started-because-mouse-pointer-not-showing-97707.html) and this page (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309703/en-us) leads me to believe that my having pointer trails on might be the culprit, so I guess I'll turn that off and try it out.
