A guy on another forum has an Apollo GP-3000 joypad and wants to use it to play IL2. However, the analogue control sticks(or whatever you call them) cannot be assigned as axes. He downloaded drivers, Windows recoginzes the controller but it simply won't work in IL2. Any advice guys?

Tell him to get a joystick. Period.

Otherwise he is just wasting his time... and ours... including yours.

See the Nugget's Guide link in my sig.

Ditto. If he's insistent on using a joypad, I'd say just wait until the console version of WoP comes out and he'll be fine. A $15 Logitech stick from Wal Mart would be better than using a pad IMO.

Thats the response I got on all the other forums. I just thought since he spent money on it, it might be nice if he got a bit of use out of it. I agree though, a joystick is necessary, I will tell him to get a cheap Logitech or a Saitek. Thanks.(And thanks for the nugget guide Bearcat)

So in windows game cotrollers the axis work? If so he should be able to go into the controls screen on il2 and scroll all the way down to the HOTAS section, thats where he needs to assign the axis to Elevators, Power, Rudder etc. Also make sure he runs il2setup.exe and make sure use joystick is selected.

Also understand that if he runs the IL2setup.exe, he may need to go back in and reset his widescreen settings in the IL2 conf.ini folder...if he uses a widescreen monitor.
