You guys are probably already familiar with this white paper by Intel. The paper seems to show gamers some love, if only in the form of the yet-to-be-released Larrabee processor. I was thinking of Sow_BoB when I read it. Yet another different socket, even form the i7 series, but maybe worth the wait. See what you think: http://download.intel.com/technology/architecture-silicon/GamePhysicsOnLarrabee_paper.pdf

ps the Larrabee processor is an i5 versus the now more familiar i7, and so requires a different socket, and it does not use tri-channel memory, but it may be closer to what is needed to get good results from BoB, and at a lower cost too.

I see this as Intel's answer to the nVidia+Physx / AMD+Havok partnerships.

Should be interesting.

I hope it will be a more desirable answer for sim producers. Why have to choose to support one engine or another? I really hope this will be the silver bullet for Sow_BoB. Even at that, I'll be happier when I read a review of Larrabee running Crysis at 3.6ghz or so. Then I'll feel better about it's chances. No doubt SOW will not go down without a fight! :D
