The other interesting thing about Whirlwind Of Vietnam is that when you succeed in accomplishing a mission by destroying the correct targets, you are suddenly dumped into the title screen with a mission accomplished notation, rather than being allowed to fly back and land properly at home base.
I am sure that this sort of thing would have been fixed had the Sim being a huge sales success, resulting in update patches, where one would have been given the choice of either terminating the mission, or continuing on to land at home base.
Unfortunately it seems that everyone jumped on the slagging-off bandwagon and never gave the sim a chance, so the chances of any updates or patches are non-existent.
Just think, if everyone had slagged-off IL-2 Sturmovik, then the dozen patches it had to go through to be playable would never have surfaced.

The really great thing about WHIRLWIND is the ambience created by the excellent graphics (fast computer mandatory), and the realistic radio talk.
That's something missing from a lot of more popular, but ultimately unsatisfying games that I really shouldn't mention by name.
