Hi,
If you have something to record gameplay and make montage, it could be nice to have a new trailer for Il2 1946 to show what's going on with 4.12m.
If someone is interested, it could be nice if you can follow that :
1. Play in 4.12m only (no mods)
2. Play the game in Max graphic
3. You can add music in the video.
4. In the video, you need to put DT logo, 1C logo, Ubisoft logo and Il2 1946 logo
5. You can add text in the trailer like "the best sim in the world introduce v.4.12m" or other things like that.
6. You can add voice (no commentary, but radio voice of WWII (real or custom -->created by you with software))
7. The video can show a story or random moment like normal trailer.
8. In the title of the video, it could be nice to have "Il2 Sturmovik 1946 Official Trailer (2013)"
Hope some of you are interested of doing this.
thx a lot

That's quite a good idea, but I'm unable to do mine since my movie maker has its humors. I've only learned the Windows MM and not any else one...

Seems like a good idea... even if there is no winner, everyone wins as it promotes a great game and continued fan driven passion to keep it going.

I've just bumped into this thread and yes, I would like to make a trailer! But just to clarify, by "official trailer" you mean that optional game "intro" don't you? If so, the author of such a trailer could perhaps be included in the credits (as a prize)? I mean, some kind of a tiny reference in lower case letters at the very end of roll...

Usually the intro is the first thing I turn off, but if it was redone maybe I'd leave it on for a while.

Not only on SAS but all IL2 related forums, I think. Contest to choose a new trailer for IL2 is a great idea in my opinion, and it would certainly rouse attention from moviemakers around. But it should be more detailed, I mean an official edict from administration concerning to rules, trailer features, etc.
We should keep in mind that a chosen trailer will be eventually incorporated to the game so that some aspects such as min/max duration, soundtrack among others are of great relevance...

How will a trailer be incorporated into the game?
The current in-game is a ntrk. (isn't it? It always used to be!)
Isn't the proposal to create a movie? Something to be posted on Youtube etc.
Or have I missed something and IL2 can now play a movie file intro?
I agree, some clarification is needed to dispel any misconceptions.

You are correct Extreme_One that the game intro is an .ntrk. That is why a modded version intro will not work for a stock DT intro of the sim.

Maybe DT can make an official topic with official rules, etc???

Yes, now You've got the point. First of all we need to know if there are "official" interest on this...

If there is something for them to see it might generate interest in this project ??
Imo, It's always easier to "sell" something that already exists.

This is a sample with some nastily edited vid excerpts from my IL2 movies collection with a visual effect applied and a soundtrack choosen at random. Is this the idea? If not, please tell us so that it could be done right from the beginning...;)

THAT Sir, was pretty damn good!
Now, if this was 'filmed' in wide-screen, with a decent amount of anti-aliasing, and some 4.12 specific features on show (and with the fraps watermark removed) this would surely get some new blood interested in the game.
IMO : Forget about trying to get TD to incorporate this into the game as an intro (I don't believe it would be worth their efforts making the game engine play movies rather than tracks, even if it's actually possible) but create something really classy, with decent music, great action, showcasing some of the new interesting features and get the thing on YouTube.
Then we all share it across the various forums and social-media and ... who knows?
We might even get 10 or 20 people interested in the game that were unaware of it before! ;)
Seriously though, I enjoyed the movie, wanted to see more and believe others would too if some of what I typed were taken into account. :)

Like Extreme_One I enjoyed that video quite a bit. I also agree it could have went on a little longer but 97 seconds is not a bad call on your part. I really like how you incorporated several different theatres of operation into your video.
Even if you can't get an Official change to the Intro video it can be done unofficially since there are only a few files that need to be changed to get it to show on start up. To get a new Intro video to play you just need to add an ntrk video named "Intro" into the intros folder which will replace the old Intro video. You can also change the Intro music by adding a .wav file named "Intro" into the music Intro folder.
(Sound files should be standard Windows RIFF files (with the .wav extension), however the data format should be MPEG - layer 3, 44100Hz, stereo.)
Here are the default locations for the Intro files.
Video:
C:\Games\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Intros
C:\Games\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Intros\Intro (.ntrk) - Make sure not to use the .ntrk extension for the video.
C:\Games\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Intros\Intro.msg - The one at the moment has nothing in it so that is why you don't see any text while the Intro video is playing.
Music:
C:\Games\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\samples\Music\Intro\
C:\Games\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\samples\Music\Intro\intro.wav
So the player doesn't lose the original files as a courtesy I would copy the original intro files and name them something else and add the renamed files to my download. This way the user could always rename them back to their original names if they wanted to go back to the original Intro.
intro_pf
intro_pf.msg
intro_pf.wav
M4T is a good place to share such a video after it is finished. ;)
