Hi guys I have a problem with the Stukas.

I have a mission with 9 squad of Stuka ( 3 planes for each ), i divided in group of 3 squads with one making the "leader" and two following, so,

Firts Squad )1 Leader (3 planes) --- 2 subordinate (3+3 planes)
Secondo Squad) 1 Leader (3 planes) --- 2 subordinate (3+3 planes)
Third Squad) 1 Leader (3 planes) --- 2 subordinate (3+3planes)

The waypoint of the subordinate squads have for target the waypoints of the leader squad, so the result is a perferct formation while
flying to the objective. This is very fine!
BUT
When they all reach the target ( British convoy ) i have a problem, i've setted for each squad 1 different target, so 9 squad ---> 9 target.

The problem is that they are dive bombing ALL on the leader Objective. So the firts two subordinates squad ATTACK the first leader Obj,
the second two subordinate squad ATTACK the second leader Obj, and the subordinates leader squad ATTACK the third leader Obj..

WHY?????

WHY?????

Because it's logical. You assign targets to the flight not to the individual planes. Therefore AI flight would attack assigned targets subsequently and will not switch to the next target, until previous is destroyed.

If you want each plane to attack it's individual target, you should have each plane as a separate flight.

Sorry i didn't explain very well, i have 9 flights. divided in group of 3 flights...
Every group have a leader. 2 flight's waypoints are syn with the 1 leader's waypoint.
So i have 3 stuka forming the leaders flight
and 6 stuka forming the 2 following flights.
The problem is that all the 3 flights attack the leaders obj.

I wanna to get 3 flights fling togheter and in formation to the obj and then attack 3 different obj... 3 flights and not 3 planes...

I am assuming that to get the three flights to fly in formation you have used the "set target" button in the waypoint tab, chaining up the second and third flight to the lead. In my experience this works fine for the journey to the target but when the target is reached, even if you set different targets for the second and third flights, they will always attack the leaders objective.
The only way I have found to get three flight to attack three targets simultaneously is not to chain them up, putting in full waypoints for all flights but then maintaining formation can become very tricky! You have to fiddle about with the waypoints to get them to fly together,(not too difficult in an "airstart" mission but can be a nightmare if the mission starts with a takeoff), it just seems to be the way that the game works and I assume only TD would know if anything can be done to change it!

Thats what i'm talking about! Ok understood this the confirm i was looking for.
Tonight i'll test to set NO TARGET to the GAttack waypoint, if i'm right i think they will choose the target randomly, if i'm wrong i'll do what i said!
Thank u guy!

Whats needed is to be able to set individual attack waypoints for each aircraft in the flight.

Attack Column

At present if you send a flight of 4 into a "SET" attack waypoint they will all hit the "SET" waypoint target for the lead flight "1"

We need to be able to set each aircraft to attack individual targets at the "SET" waypoint.

Currently

The only work around is to set 9 individual Stukas to attack their own target in the column.

Setting a "Gattack" point will only have them randomly drop without diving sometimes.
Note
1850m used to be the minimum altitude AI performed a dive bomb attack from correctly.

Post the mission here and we can see whats happening easier :)

Tonight i'll test to set NO TARGET to the GAttack waypoint,

That works fine for level bombers, I've never tried it for dive bombing attacks, so maybe I'll try it myself.

I've just tried it and it seems to work. I set up a simple mission, 2 flights of 3 stukas attacking 3 merchant ships moving in convoy, the "Gattack" waypoints were set over the waypoints for the ships at the point where the time matched. Diving from 4000m with no target set at least 2 of the ships were hit on each occasion that I ran the mission.

Thnak u mate, But the problem is SOLVED yeaaah!
I set all the flights in group of three with one leader as i said above, the GATTACK waypoint know don't have any target, doing this every flight attack randomly and NOT following the leader.
The result is a perfect formation from the spawn to the obj, a random attack on DIFFERENT TARGET CHOOSED RANDOMLY, perfect formation from the obj to land!!! Near the GATTACK waypoint i have the enemy convoy and i on't care what ships they attacks... I hope u'll understand my english :( thank u all!

In 10 years of messing about with the FMB I've never tried to build a dive bombing mission until today and I must admit that the idea of not setting a "Gattack" waypoint target made me think that the stukas would attempt to level bomb, or maybe dive and drop bombs into the sea. I was pleasantly surprised when they dived on separate targets each time I ran the mission, hitting at least 2 ships every time (1 time they sank all 3 ships).
As they say,"You learn something new every day"
I'm gonna play with this some more

I have never been able to get stukas to strafe after bombing even if at another location with the convoy linked to the gorund attack icon.

Almost useless, and extremely undesirable.

I've tried to set unmatched (by time) waypoint and they still bomb different target... 9 flights 9 different target.. I've tried more the 20 time...
I'm extremely glad to see that once in a while i can give help to other users instead flooding the forum of foolish questions!!!
