I couldn't find anyone doing this so I thought I would since I cant continue on the Junkers dive bomber.

I started from scratch early this morning and this is where she is at for the time being. I have to go back to my day job. lol

Just found out there is a 177 that was reported to be 80% done already.

Scrap one more project. Didn't realize it would be this hard to find a plane to make.

I wouldnt count the 177 as a sure thing. Its been many years in the making from various different sources.

At this point though people are starting to do F-14's and 18's because there aren't any other aircraft to do!

A lot of modders have begun to refine the current aircraft models, with great success and wonderful results.

Is there a list of current WIP or completed models?

Well SAS and Il2 freemodding are the places to be for this sort of thing. I trust your registered as a modder at both places?

Nope. I've been out of the game for a number of years. Just now starting to find the time to do it again.

The Curtiss Hawk III biplane, and the Lockheed Hudson come to mind, as does the Lockheed Ventura, which is probably the most overlooked aircraft to serve in the Pacific. It was ubiquitous in the day and now almost totally forgotten.

Although the Hudson is a WONDERFUL idea. Would be great for the Med too.

When I think about it we have every mark of Spit, 109, 190, P-51 and -38.
We are missing the P-47M though. Would fill a missing niche for the late war.

I know TD is working on RAF bombers but I havent seen anyone working on these:

I registered at SAS and sent a mod that I happen to have worked with in the past a PM.

Im more into the unique German aircraft or the later american aircraft. I see there are a whole host of 1945+ aircraft that has been produced and most of my other project ideas went down the tube because they are already been done. Which is not exactly a bad thing either.

There is also a request thread over at SAS that may give you ideas.

A P-47M would require a change to LOD 0 for the fillet, and mainly an FM change. I started work on the P-47N a long time ago but had to stop short due to joining the service. The 47N requires the fillet, squared off wing tips, and the wings must be extended(10 or 18inces. Or something along those lines.)

If I could get my hands on the already existing P-47D files then I wouldn't find doing those.

We already have an excellent P-47N over at SAS. Truly a great plane. I'm sure one of the modders over there can square you away.

Can't argue with the British bombers. The Chinese Hawk III is very nice looking, however it's not in HSFX so I have no clue where it came from. Also I'm hoping that it can be in the stock version of the sim. I don't do mulitple mod installs. One is almost too many.

CWMV

Sadly with HSFX the way it is its difficult to add ANY other aircraft in expert mode.
I'm telling you though, its a beaut in the game. I have it in my DBW and I believe there has been an emd extraction for it to make it possible to add to HSFX 6.

And there it is.

Just another reason that Im considering not doing anything at all. I haven't been around in so long I have no clue what's going on. I dont want to put a good bit of time into something only to find out that someone else is about done with it.

There doesn't seem to be a list of WIP or completed planes anywhere making it even harder to figure out which plane to do.

Have you looked in the modders section, IE the superschool?

There are plenty of modded planes, but the stock game is still short of some very important models. If you go through the 4.12 wish list in the TD section, I am sure you'll find some inspiration. Models for the stock games will need to meet official standards, which some find hard to accept. But maybe you can give it a try, I'd appreciate it. A Hawker Typhoon was recently mentioned as missing, and I very much agree.

An old Loadstar pilot told me a funny story once. He spotted a friendly fighter below him, so he dumped his altitude to gain speed. Just as he overtook the fighter, he feathered one engine, then waved at the fighter pilot as he blew by.

Cool.. Are there any plans to make it flyable?

oh... really...?

this strange, but in something beautiful and dangerous, for crews too, bird... i like many aircrafts, but this was always something special...

and sometime ago was really surprised when read about very intense career of these planes on soviet-german front, and about sorties of 30+ he 177 in daytime (if not forgot something)... not easy targets for any fighters...

well, really interesting and useful plane for all fronts...

this will be A5, and flyable?

A3, which, as opposed to A5, had conventional ailerons, instead of Fawler flaperons.

In initial release it will be AI-only. I know, people, who initiated this project want it to be flyable, but I am not sure, if there is anyone, who has desire, time and experience enough to build all those cockpits. That would be a huge job. And as far, as I know, all people in IL-2 modeling community, who can do the job, are already neck-deep in their own current projects.
