Yes, it's the badly optimised/coded dust, turn effects to medium and put up with blocky and pixelated lighting/tracer effects or put up with it.

Try turning down the effects settings, and grass if you have it on. These are the usual suspects for poor performance on the ground.

For me it is also the buildings-details...

If you have an ATI card (like me) then it will caused by the dust, Nvidia and it will be your overall settings ie grass, dust and so fourth along with building detail.
People have given all reasons above, but worth mentioning that the "Brands" have an effect.
EDIT* Tavington is that DLC request video in your sig for real?

Lol, no, Nvidia and it is still the dust.

My 560GTX Ti is severely affected by the dust issue.

My solution, until the problem is fixed, is to look down so that the panel takes up about 75% of the picture, until I am off the runway. After that, the dust and grass no longer affect the frame rate.

Which version are you talking about?
The latest beta the dust particle issue isnt as bad.
I just did a couple of quick tracks with 6 aircraft taking off and my FPS on the ground is normally around 45FPS with all details on max and it only drops to 24FPS at the absolute worst and normally drops to 30FPS with dust. This is not low enough to cause any stutter or loss of smoothness on my system.
I tried several angles and camera views and got pretty much the same result.

Poor bugger. The 660ti just got released and has about twice the performance of the 560. Had a narrow escape myself, as I was just about to buy the 5' when I decided to read the tech news before going to the store.

It's just as bad, I'll dig out my benchmark if you want to see just how bad it is. It needs to be either fixed or added as a seperate option to br disabled asap.
