I'm very new to Il-2 and could use some help configuring the joystick to some level of proficiency. Anybody have a set of configs for this joystick? I've also been having trouble locating active servers, could use a head's-up here as well.
Thanks

I use one of those. My setup was thrown together a big haphazardly, but here's my settings from config anyway:
[rts_joystick]
1X=0 78 84 88 92 95 97 100 100 100 100 10
1Y=0 47 58 65 72 78 83 87 91 96 100 10
1RZ=5 26 44 59 74 84 90 94 96 98 100 10
1U=0 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 0
1V=0 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 0
FF=0
See if that does you any good. :)

Sorry. Just in case you need it:
Backup your config file.
Copy this data to the relevant section of the file. The section should already be in there somewhere.
Fire it up.
What I've done is soften the response at lower joystick pressuse, to make subtle inputs possible, while leaving the full force in if you want to apply hard stick. This sort of thing is definitely a bonus on aircraft like the P-51 and FW-190 etc that tend to act skitty with the default settings.
Hope that helps. :)

so how did you program the remaining buttons on the stick base and top.

so how did you program the remaining buttons on the stick base and top.
Button 1 = Fire machineguns
Button 2 = Fire cannons
Button 3 = Fire Rockets
Button 4 = ?? (mental block about this one...)
Button 5 = Drop Bombs
Button 6 = Toggle gunsight view
Button 7 = Narrow FOV
Button 8 = Raise Flaps
Button 9 = Normal FOV
Button 10 = Lower Flaps
Button 11 = Wide FOV
Button 12 = (nothing at the moment. Tried to configure it as the "push to talk" button for TS, but it won't accept it.)
I used to used B-12 as the "look up" button when I relied on the hatswitch to look around. Now I have Track IR so thats obsolete.
Button 4 could perhaps be used to toggle gunpods? But who ever turns their gunpods off anyway..?
Functions you should NOT apply to the joystick:
Eject. Toggle Gear. Wing Fold. Toggle Engine.
Any of these could kill the plane if you hit it accidentally. :)
Hope that helps. ~S~

That's exactly what I was looking for,Thanks! Now if you have a server IP I'll be ready to go.

Hello,
try to install the all seeing eye to find servers. It's free, it should detect automatically your IL2 exe file or if it doesn't you can do that manually in 3 minutes.
BTW, I have the same joystick than yours, but I use it like that :
B1 : Machine guns
B2 : Cannons
B3 : Close FOV
B4 : Wide FOV
B5 : Flaps down
B6 : Flaps up
B7 : Bombs
B8 : Rockets
B9 : Radiator
B10 : Wep
B11 : Navigation lights
B12 : Landing lights
But it's up to you to find your personnal settings, the one you're more comfortable with.

Very good your explanation. But you could put your keys file config.ini and copy us so? Would you kindly?
If you can do so privately.
a greeting.
