Here's a copy of the blurb on mission4today.com where I've just uploaded. I won't be on the net again until October at the earliest (by which time any IL2 missions will probably be obsolete - we can hope ;)
---
Fortress Britain is a time-related series of single missions for IL2 1946 version 4.08m.
These missions, based on the Normandy 2 map, follow a semi-fictitious 1939-40 era but as is, rely rather heavily on an anachronism in the form of my favorite version of the Spitfire in IL2, the 1941 Mk Vc2 (which admittedly makes 'the play' just a wee bit biased against the Emils!).
I hope this set still brings some pleasure and excitement in these 'closing days' for the best flight sim ever. They will need a fairly high end machine to run in purrfect mode (and please be patient around the 85% loading time).
A note on skins - the best (for me, the most realistic) for both the Hurricane and Spit V are not easy to find unless you download Compan's Battle of Britain campaign (1569_No_32_BoB.zip) or contact him direct at samsusan@bvunet.net. Well worth the effort, IMO. Oh, there's also a funky Fiesler Storch skin I knocked up to look sort of like an Avro Auster - stick it in the \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\PaintSchemes\Skins\Fi-156 folder, if so inclined.
If you want to use my 'mission splash screenshot' bung \FortBrit\GB\background.tga into your \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Missions\Single\GB folder after renaming the original P51/V2 one. Also, don't forget that by using the excellent Quick Mission Tuner (QMT_V204.zip), you can fly any plane in the missions. Please feel entirely free to modify and share any aspect of these missions.
Finally, grateful thanks not only to Oleg and his team of cyber-wizards but also to all at the 'Ubi Zoo' who have made mission building such a pleasure by their unstinting contributions over the years.
Tally Ho, chaps and all that bally rot, what!
