Barrage balloons, is there any way to get cable collisions ?

Been setting up some barrage balloons in the FMB on a dogfight map and I have not been able to get any collisions happening with the cables. I see there is both a "winch" obj and a "static">balloon object. Is there a special way they need to be set up ? Or is there no collisions modelled ?
