Hi all!

I'm in for a n00b's question: How do I start the dedihost? In the distribution I've dl'ed, there is no exe file to execute?

Do you mean the IL2 Dedicated Server? If so you might have downloaded the 4.08m patch for the dedicated server, no exe in that one only data updates.

Installing the IL2 Dedicated Server can be a trying exercise, normally you have to initially install the first version and then go patch by patch to all the way to 4.08. Creating a 4.08 Dedicated Server installer should be doable but I haven't seen any floating around - maybe others can help.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your kind reply :).
Although, I believe my question is even more n00bish than that: Where do I find the dedihost to begin with ??? I.e., I cannot find it on the IL-2 -46 dvd or anywhere else on the net...

What I did find, though, was this DL page: http://www.fz.se/spel/?id=5916

Ok misjka, you just dove into the deep end of the pool.

First of all, see this link

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=400102&f=23110283&m=692106434

You'll want to install the "merged" version i.e. AEP+PF before you continue the updates.

You can find the patches up to 4.04m (use the ones with the "m" in the name - m=merged) here ....
http://ftp.ubi.com/us/games/pacific_fighters/dedicated_servers/

alternatively here ....
http://pacific-fighters.com/en/updates.php

ATM I cannot trace the rest of the patches, maybe you can find them on the fz.se site.

Hope this helps.

Oooopsie-dooopsie... That really went deep  !

Thanks a lot to you both!!

So, if I understand this correctly, I need to install all of the 11 versions to complete the task of having an up-to-date 4.08m server?

Thanks a lot :). Suddenly the waters got quite shallow :-P!

...

But I have a problem, though: I've started the dedihost on one of my pc's and try to connect from another pc on my LAN... Then the client just says "Couldn't connect" without giving a reason, and the host says "socket channel NOT created"...

Any clues howcome...?

The conf ini in the dedi server port should be

local port=21001

you need to join this port on the client side via lan and sometimes the internal ip

so try
:21001
or
192.168.x.xx:21001

Have fun

I have succeeded in getting the dedihost up :-P!

But now I have another problem: Within the host window I suceed in loading a coop mission that I have downloaded from UBI and tested in single mode before. The loading of the missions goes fine in the dedihost, but as I have connnected the client and would like to choose my plane, I'm requested to choose home base - just as if in dogfight mode ....

I have placed the coop folder within the /net/coop folder, and it's also the path as I choose when loading the mission - i.e. mission LOAD /net/coop/d-day/d-day_02_escort.mis...

Shouldn't the dedihost recognize coop mode automatically as I have placed the mission in the this folder?

The Dedicated server can only host Dog Fight missions.

The reason for this is that at present the AI in a COOP can not be used in A DF map due to pilots joining the server at different times, the AI have start time points and need to have all clients start all at the same time in a COOP mission.

You can convert the map you want by placing "Home Bases" where you want the Allied/Axis airfields and converting the AI vehicles & trains shipping etc to static targets remembering to remove the AI waypoints.

You can edit the plane sets for the home bases according to the original mission .

Have Fun

Oopsie, how sad:(...!

Well, since I'd like the AI:s to turn up I'll have to use the ingame host instead...

Thanks a lot for a quick and informative response!
