3rd post , :)

I have several questions inspired by this post from 2010:
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=16887

What would be a 4.11 version of Captain Eric Brown "pre 4.07" realistic Joystick curves?
It reads that Oleg modified Joystick input after getting those curves...
Pitch 0, 1, 3, 7, 9, 14, 18, 23, 27, 33
Roll 0, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, 12, 17
Yaw 0, 0, 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 11, 14, 16

I have an X52 PRO, whose basic response curve is described as non linear, and non moddable....
Basic response curve for X52 is , still according to the aforementionned post:
0 1 4 9 16 25 36 49 64 81 100 0

If i get it right that would mean to get this kind of non linear curve i would need to enter a FULL 100 curve in Il-2?

If that's the case, is there a way to modify the basic curve of the X-52 PRO to make it linear, which I doubt after reading that post?

If not, what would be an X52 version of Capt brown curves adjusted for the stick basic, non linear response?

Thanks a lot!

Make all the values up to 100. Trust me! :)

Try different settings and fly the same mission until it feels right for YOU. :)

I'm doing just that, and finding my bearings, but i'd like to try a "realistic" setup even if it doesn't feel right hence my borderline obsession with Capt Browns settings...:-P

Captain Browns settings were for a very early version of the game, possibly the original IL2. You can download the original demo of the game at Mission 4 Today, and try them for yourself. The way the stick settings work were changed with the advent of Forgotten Battles (version 4.00, the predecessor of the current 1946). Try flying with settings at all 100's in the demo, not impossible to fly like that but almost, in 4.11 OTOH it's a piece of cake.
When the original game came out a lot of sticks were analogue, and connected to the pc via a game port socket. Sticks themselves were also pretty crude, at least the inexpensive ones. The more expensive were also prone to go out of whack regularly as well, requiring pots to be cleaned or replaced. Newer USB sticks are more accurate and responsive and tend to stay that way, fingers crossed. The short of this is that Browns settings are more or less irrelevent for 4.11. All planes in the current game roll too fast, historically the fw190 could roll much faster than allied fighters, but that advantage is not represented in game.
The way the current game's stick setting work mean that flying with less than all 100's may put you at a disadvantage online. All 100's mean that the plane responds 1:1 with stick movement. To get a less responsive linear response you could try all 50's for example. As has been said you have to find what setting is best for you. Hope this helps.

Try using the program "IL-2 Joy Control" to set your stick sensitivities.
It is a small utility that lets you quickly set your stick without having to start up the game
It is available at Mission4Today here:

Thank you very much Jameson for the update on those realistic settings.
For online fun i will probably use all 100 or approaching.
What were the changes in 4.00?
D you think realistic settings could still be used to correct some inadequacies in flight behavior, with "realistic offline" or online play in mind?
