Hey Oleg,
When are you going to release a new short video of SOW_BOB? Nothing fancy. Just a brief fly-about in a fighter, maybe in and out of clouds. Or low over the water (set to water=6 or something). Or maybe high over Biggin Hill in the Emil (with flak blazing away). Or maybe an in-cockpit scene where the pilot is in a Spit looking over his shoulder as he tries to out turn an Emil (a demo of TIR-6dof from the cockpit)? Nothing fancy. Just a little bit of something for the faithful. You think?

If you take a look at all the updates in order and read Olegs replies to questions it would seem the release date is even further away now than it was when they released 46 with the promo, every time I see an update I get all expectant and prepared to be amazed but ....... no ,just more pics of aircraft in development stages which is nice but not very encouraging , I think that either development isnt as far along as we think or there being very very withholding on the info because of the competition.
Who knows maybe the next one will be a biggie but im not holding my breath.

Looking at the pictures posted recently, it seems to me like they are years away from release. I think it was DuxCorvan who summed it up in a way like "We are shown a lot of nice dresses, but no tits" Maybe there are no tits to show yet?
Looking at Olegs answers also gives me the impression that we are far away from a working beta-version of the game. There are so many answers that indiciates that they have not taken desicion about alot of features yet. Thus, they can't be even close to beta-testing. And that may be the reason for the lack of videos.. simply because a lot of important features are still not clearly defined or implemented yet.
Just my 10 øre.

Meanwhile I'm happy with 1946, FlatSpinMan's campaigns and the new maps keeping me entertained for hours every week. And that is all I have time for anyway!

like we have nothing in the way of Sow_BoB progress to look forward to. At least not in this life. Sad to say, but it appears a bit of cynicism is creeping in here. If that's accurate I can't blame you guys for feeling that way. I know it's hard to sustain enthusiasm when there seems too little in the way of updates. If it's about competition, BoB II is getting on in years, and what other WW II sim is there to be concerned about? 1946? So is Oleg competing with himself? Maybe he's just lost his way after so long? Any of these speculations would be very sad if true.
I believe most of us are looking to participating in the Battle of Britain online through the magic of Oleg's renderings. Were that not so, imho, I for one would have already bought Rowan's Bob II. I still might buy a copy one day, but I favor online play mainly. Hey! Maybe that's the hangup! Oleg can't reconcile how to represent a bomber armada online. opps! more speculation on my part. Thus the need we have for an immediate release of a video showing SOMETHING. ANYTHING. Hear me Oleg! Hear the lamentations of the faithful!

I think the lack of substantial updates is mainly due to Ubisoft's influence. I don't know the status of UBI's and Olegs relationship but there has been no announcement that it has changed so UbiSoft would still hold control of any info released to the western market. This may be one of the reasons Olegs abandoned the UBI forums so he could show limited updates. I think if he showed substancial updates the UbiLawyers would be casting a dark shadow over the sim.

Chivas,
If Oleg is holding out on substantial updates because he's concerned about UBI (hereafter known as the Evil Empire) casting it's dark shadow, what's to prevent UBI from casting that shadow after the sim is released? Not to mention any updates that might be released between now and then? I don't get that. But maybe it's because Oleg has had to discard any resemblance of any work he'd done while in the clutches of the Evil Empire, and has basically had to start anew? hmmm...

As far as we know UBI still has a contract with Oleg and controls info to the western market. In the past on the ubi forums, people close to Oleg have said they he would like to provide more updates, but its not in his total control. As I said this may be the reason we have to come here to get any info.

I don't know what you mean by this statement.
"what's to prevent UBI from casting that shadow after the sim is released?"

Not to make excuses for UBI but they probably has business reasons why they don't want any info released at this time. Its not to spite the community. This seems to be how some business is done these days. Most of the few other combat sims on the horizon are giving much less info than Oleg has over the last few years. Information is worth alot of money to your competitors. Even knowing your competitors release date can make a difference on which item makes it too the market first and captures a larger percentage of the market.

I would also like more screenshots and info, but having Oleg pop in here once a month with a screenshot and answering some questions suggests strongly that the sim is still being developed. We will have all the screenshots and info required when the time is right.

perhaps we should simply ask the moderators to delete this topic. I didn't mean it to be in any way divisive. How complicated life becomes when one thinks he's asking for a simple new...

Hello Flyby!
We'll just have to wait.. I allready have a campaign planned for SOW BOB whenever it's released :) In the meantime one can get immersed with some other game..
I just got back to flying IL-2 after a two year long break, and it reminded me again why I love flightsims so much.

Here is my plan for waiting:
1946 will keep me occupied until the first installment of DCS,
then I shall fly the Black Shark (I allready have a campaign planned for that one too :D and the relevant flight charts)) I will probably play some IL-2 during this time as well, keeping in touch with my squad buddies. DCS will be fresh and new during this time, and should be able to keep me excited (along with 1946) until the holy day comes when Bob is born.
I'll also stick in a boat trip with a bunch of naked women in my waiting schedule, to which you Flyby, have a special invitation.. :D

S~ Sulan!
I like your plan, and think I'll immulate it. Well, I'll fly '46, and then Black Shark until Sow_BoB comes out. I'm also looking forward to KOTS and Jet Thunder. Meanwhile I'm not flying anything at the moment because I'm trying to spec out a new system and am waiting a bit before I actualy begin purchasing the components.
Also, please reserve me a place of deck right in the middle of all those agile naked women! :D Ah... naked women the natural male-enhancement solution! ;) Sulan, my friend, I like your thinking!

ps I look forward to trying your campaigns too!
