I was in a battle in a town (beautiful) with 20 kinights, 140 milita and 100 archers against 100 axemen, 100 swordsmen and 20 archers.

I was winning the battle, outflanked the archers, destroyed them, myarchers was firing on their axemen but they formed a shield wall (few casualties) so i moved them back into the woods trying to draw them forward .. and put my militia on the flank of steep hill, thinking the slope would counter any attack. The AI's 2 inf units moved forward and attacked my militia but i watched in horror as the militia marched down the slope (unordered) and moved on the flat to be destroyed by the 2 enemy inf units!!! WTF!

Why do units move, unordered from hill slopes ??

Maybe they decided it will be a great idea to attack downhill... anyway, set them to hold mode if you don't want any great ideas. Units with high initiative may still attack on their own though.

Sounds like the Fyrd at the Battle of Hastings. Personally I like the fact that units act with some initiative, even if suicidal at times, just like the poor Fyrd charging down the hill toward the Normans. I am sure it is frustrating but adds some uncertainty to what was always a very uncertain and chaotic situation. TW did this to a small degree with impetuous Knights in Medieval TW and I am glad to see similar here.

It was NO charge, more like a slow "we don't like being on steep slope" walk.

If it was initiative, and 1 unit is being attacked by 2 enemy units, then a - Fast "to the highest hill we can find" RUN would make more sense?

I'll try hold.
