View Full Version : A little help please?
Hello guys!
I've been around these forums for a little while. Albeit on the Birds of prey section.
Right to my problem:
I recently got 1946 from steam, it downloaded and plays perfectly. However, it is version 4.09m. I want to play across the net which means I need to update. I get that bit.
The crux of the problem occurs when I download 4.10. I load the game and nothing has changed, on the loading screen it still says 4.09m :(
Now, I don't know how to get it to work. Do I need to download the 4.09 skins update before 4.1? Am I letting the .exe run in the wrong place (to the 1946 folder)? Any help will be appreciated!

The installer of 4.10 patch for default extract the files to folder:
c:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946
But your Il-2 is in the folder:
If XP = C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 Sturmovik 1946
If 7 = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 Sturmovik 1946
Adjust C:\ if your STEAM is installed in different place.
Extract again to correct folder. After extract the optional skin pack.

I don't have a download version so can't be sure how to help you there but also I'm not running Win 7... which OS you're running and where the game is installed may make a difference as to the solution.
I'm sure there are people who can straighten this out for you soon though!
Edit: Yup, even the fix before I finish typing the encouragement!

As others said... much probably a path issue - choose the game directory manually from the install setup.
About question if you need the 4.09 skins patch... it is optional, so 4.10 will run without it. If you, however, decide later, you want to have the 4.09 skins patch, then you need to install it and install 4.10 (and 4.10.1) after it again.
With other words... the skin patch is optional, the patch order is not.
Aha! And now it works! Well, 4.10m Does, any way. Now to make a mess of the next one and working out if I need a mod or something.. :p
Thanks guys, it's appreciated! I'll probably see you in the skys at some point (or just feel your wrath)! :)

Don't forget to install 4.10.1 as well... plain 4.10 was a bug party.

Done and dusted, just trying to join some games now!

I don't think it's actually like this. I remember installing the 4.09m skin patch AFTER 4.10, and I think there were no files overwritten. So it should be possible to install it afterwards.
To completely skip the patch order, I recommend this:

4.10.1m megapatch, can be used on every previous version, including out-of-the-box 4.07m.
I just skipped the skins download and went straight to 4.10 then 4.11. If I'd have known about that, before hand, it would have been so easy! Thanks anyway! :)
