Update :

currently includes seven missions:

the first mission got helicopter & and few tanks and many troops
(in relation to original MOW:V).
You play on the U.S side , fighting against endless wave of Vietcong infantry
trying to capture a hill you defend ,and a enemy base to take down in other part of the map as well .

this mission was built on a slightly modified version of the original first map in the Vietcong campaign .

In the second mission you play on the US side , assisting and leading
assault on a village ,and dealing with other sort of nasty surprises .

If you always wondered if it's a good idea to use a flamethrower as
a weapon in the jungle ,this mission is for you...

third mission is a defensive map ,once again you play on the U.S side,
this time defending a base which is under heavy attack .

fourth mission starts with a river patrol but turns into a raid
on a village and later on big river fight .
other missions : (read in page 9 and above of this thread)

here's the read me :

1. Extract inside MOW:Vietnam main folder .
(or drag the mods folder to MOW:Vietnam main folder .)

2.open C:\Documents and setting\%USERNAME%\My Documents\My Games\men of war:vietnam \profiles\player
backup and move the options.set file to other folder,and then replace it with the options.set
file that came in the zip .

3.open MOW:V go to select campaign and start playing.


If you all ready installed previous version of this mod,
repeat step one and confirm overwrite previous files in the mod folder.

Just speechless....freakin AWESOME! Men of Peace....you are my hero! You virtually saved this game for me. I was all excited and following this game til release, after I got it I played for 1 hour and havent really touched since. I was expecting Assault Squad in a Vietnam setting and was extremely upset and regretted my purchase. This mission of yours shows what can be done and I am digging this game now! The mission was like the firefights I was hoping for.

If you find time to make more missions, I will surely play them. I managed to get the GEM editor to fire up but I have some issues and cant load the Vietnam maps. I can load Vietnam soldiers etc. just not maps. After you guys that have got it working settle in, maybe you could help us out by uploading something that is straightforward so we can get it working as well. Anyway, thanks a ton, Great Job!:grin:

original MOW:V missions ,that's why i rushed to release this with only one

I'm currently working on another mission , but this time I'm making more
radical changes to the map ,hopefully it will be ready in a few days .

what method you used ? importing MOW:V assets to MOW/AS folder/editor,
or importing the editor to the MOW:V folder ?

you cant find what ? not sure i understand you .

you need to find the options.set file in the player folder
(or your active profile name, if you use any other)
back it up and move to other folder, then move the
options.set from the rar to replace the original one .

the mods folder goes in the MOW:V main folder, and that's it .

I will take a shot at helping Raz. Replace the options.set file in your Documents with the one provided with the mission. Copy the folder "Mods" into your Men of War Vietnam folder. You dont have a "mods" tab in MOWV like in Assault squad, the mission will show up in the campaign menu at the bottom called "The Smell of Napalm".

Very nice mod, Men Of Peace. I managed to get it working in any game: MOW, MOWAS and MOWV, but the problem is the editor:

This mod is for MOW:V .it's using the V assets , if you are trying
to open it in MOW or AS without importing the proper files from
the V pak files then what you describe will happen ,the editor will
open the map without all the assets it cant find .

editor , we are mixing two different things here .

I dont have a packed editor , i used other method then the one described
in the sticky page , I imported all the V assets manually to the MOW
folder/editor from the game.pak and the e1/e2/e3.pak's and the texture
pak,and on top of that you need to edit some def files of some models
and make other changes in the MOW files , and to make it short I'll need to send you the whole MOW folder for that ,
man i should have made notes,
while i was doing it , it's not that complicated but it's too many details to
remember off hand .


anyways.... here is a preview of the map I'm working on for the
second mission , it's the second map in the viet campaign
but heavily modified .

Man O' War: I used the method on the sticky, and I was referring to being able to create my own missions by loading the stock maps. I never tried to load Men of Peace's mission in the editor.


Men of Peace: New map is looking good! I know you kinda pushed out the first map quick and its great. If there was one negative point about it, its that there are tons of units and it pushes my machine to the limit.

My machine isnt exactly a new screamer:
i7 920@ 3.5ghz
6 gig 1600mhz corsair
Overclocked HD6970 2 gig

I average around the mid 30's with everything at max and thats not bad. I guess I am wondering if your future maps will have even more units on the field at once? Might be hard for most folks to run unless they have a bleeding edge rig. I dont know the GEM editor very well but maybe have more units spawn after some have had a chance to die? Anyway, we appreciate your efforts!

According to Frapps I'm getting under 20 fps(MAX on everything). I just don't get that, it's the same with MoWAS. MoW, NTW, ETW, and MoWV. Frapps says I'm getting low fps but my game plays fine to me, and I'm always playing with tweaks.
I have the opposite problem, I was thinking of tweaking the delay time to make the Enemy AI come out faster.

Looking forward to your new mission Men Of Peace. I like the name too "Men Of Peace".

On the regular stock missions my FPS is a solid 60 with v-sync on. I just meant Men of Peace's mission has so much action it chugs at certain times. Too much action isn't a bad thing, just hard to run.

I've been told that running Frapps can give you low fps. I just meant that low fps has always meant slow running games. I've seen MoWAS as low as 10 fps(with Frapps) and the game ran smooth.

I just don't understand why my Rig gets low fps and still smooth running games.

I remember trying to play a SHoWW2 mod on my old Rig, that was like a slide show.

Anyway, about the editor...

I have been able to make some progress: I copied the files from the MOWV "resource" file (Copied everything except the game.pak file) and paste it to the mod "resource" file and now in the editor I can see the new units and vehicles but I can't even select them and the skin of the new units is black and white squares AND I cannot use any of the weapons...

Any help would be appreciated, thanks. :)

Thanks man ,about the question , well, some will some wont, i am planing
to include in future maps some epic battles with very large numbers of units , my rig is about the same as yours just not overclocked and it runs
smoothly much larger battles ,maybe tune the setting down a bit ?

about the editor .
black&white squares means you didn't imported the needed files from
the textures pak ,cannot use weapons means you didn't imported the
needed files from the game.pak (assuming you already imported the models).

Black and white squares have been solved: I copied all the .pak files except the "game.pak" to /Men Of War/mods/vnewmissions/resource and i have all the skins.

cannot use weapons means you didn't imported the
needed files from the game.pak (assuming you already imported the models).

Every time I pick up a weapon it turns into "!" with a circle around it...

Can you please tell me which files are needed from the game.pak file? I know it's probably boring and such, but I would appreciate it very much... :)

And what about the vehicles? I can use only a few of them: GAZ Jeep, Williys Jeep, M24 Chaffe tank and IL-2 Airplane... :confused:

I will try to get a few pictures to show you... :-P

you probably found that by now but you press space on direct control
to take off , i think you should definitely make some missions/maps of
your own and release them ,variety is a good thing ,you have experience
with the gem editor ? you made missions in the past ?

I did everything twice to make sure including deleting the old mod folder first, but I am still seeing the same mission " Smell of Napalm" that you did last time. Can you double check that the old mission isnt inside your new rar file? I'm pretty sure I did everything properly. Looking forward to playing it!

hello force10 , Smell of napalm is the name of the campaign, click it and you
should be able to see the old mission (final stand) and below it the new
mission (killing fields) .

Final Stand was the only mission listed after clicking on the campaign. I hope it's not a deal where you have to complete the first mission for the second one to show up because that first mission is rough! I did get it to show up by deleting the first mission in the resource folder and renaming the folder like the first mission. I guess we will see if others have any issues getting it to show up. Thanks!

I know that it showed up for some others so I'm guessing it's exactly the deal
"where you have to complete the first mission for the second one to show up",
of course you can go around it like you did, or the more conventional way by
editing the game_progress.set .

I have almost done a new mission, but i have problems with helicopters . I created 3 heli i set up all (air state, waypoint, actor state, air attack etc) when they arrive on field 2 of them crash immidiatly(without reason) the third begins to spin and doesn't attack anything. Something strange I set up AI control for heli but when they arrive i can control them in air!

about the third one that start to spin without attacking anything ,
Did you put in the enemies tags or mids under the air attack command
or you left it blank ?

about the spinning , have you tested it in MOW: Vietnam ?
because i noticed in the editor helicopters do that spinning thing ,but in
the game it doesn't . (and it got to do with the def file , i had
previous version of the def file which it didn't do that ,but since
i did a new "cleaner" version of the def file the helicopters somehow
got the planes properties inside the editor so they never stop moving.
but since it's working fine in the game it doesn't bother me too much.

as for the two that crash on the way , you sure no one shots them ?
they have enough fuel? they dont hit anything? or that you didn't
accidentally changed their heights somewhere through a command .
never happened to me that they changed heights and crashed without reason .

Something strange I set up AI control for heli but when they arrive i can control them in air!

Yeah , if you want the AI to completely control without the
option for you to interfere , make it a different player .

Ok tnx . I undestood the crash reason ( 2 were too close so they hit eachother) In the enemy I put player 1 so maybe it's generic. I will try as you say in game .
Another question . Example task: attack and put not operatable a gun. I attack with infantry and kill crew, but i have a trigger that commands near enemies to board the empty gun so enemies keep coming and board it. I want to stop enemy boarding but after a period ( example 40 seconds) . So if the gun stay without crew for 40 seconds the trigger ("board gun") stops working. Question : which trigger to put a timer to "stop boarding" ? it isn't "delay" (I have already tried ) . I'm trying "timer" but i don't know how to write it.

Well there are many ways to do it , but the one i can
think about off the top of my head is :

add a event condition to your "board gun" trigger
for example, create board_gun1_on event ,then add in some earlier
trigger a event command that will set this event to on.

so you will have on your trigger conditions:

1.entities (check if the gun is inhabited or not)
2.event (checks if the new event you created is on or not)

on the commands tab :
board (vehicle tag ,enemy entity tag, zone)
delay 40
if /entities (another check after 40 seconds to see if the gun is inhabited.)
event (-) board_gun1_on (turn off the event, so the conditions of the trigger
wont be meet)

and that's about it ,of course you can add more checks and do it in
other ways but this works as well , the only downside is that
it counts to 40 after the gun is not inhabited and then if someone
replace the gunner place and you kill him ,the timer keep counting ,
so if you kill him exactly when it's reaches 0 it will turn the trigger off,
so that's why additional check will help if you insist on the precession .

Just tested your 3rd mission for awhile.....Awesome! When I thought of a MOW game in Vietnam this is what I pictured. Firebase's being overrun etc.

Sometimes there is a bug occured - The enemy infantry reinforcements never stop coming out, in the meantime my friend units all retreat to the village. This looks like an endless game that never stops until my units are dead.

It's not a bug , if you are messing around too much instead of going
to the ambush spot in time, or if you sent a helicopter instead of infantry ,
or if you had set the ambush too far from the friendly units ,
then the enemies may "lay low", and when there is no action the
friendlies going back to the village ,and you are left to deal with
those endless waves alone (not endless,I'll give you a tip , if
you notice, the enemies back up is divided to 2 separate squads , you need
50 dead bodies on the ground from each of the squads to finish the
ambush ,if you use helicopter, chances are you are blasting the corpses
thus making it endless indeed,which is not a bad thing for the replayability
value) .

sure ,but lets try something else first , create new folder on your desktop,
extract the file inside ,cut the mods folder , and paste it in your
man of war Vietnam folder ,that's it .
then you only need to replace the options.set , like the readme file
mentions ,and open mow:v go to select campaign screen and click the
smell of napalm campaign , note ,you'll see only the first mission on
the list,you need to finish the first one for the second one to show
up like in the original campaigns.

sure ,but lets try something else first , create new folder on your desktop,
extract the file inside ,cut the mods folder , and paste it in your
man of war Vietnam folder ,that's it .
then you only need to replace the options.set , like the readme file
mentions ,and open mow:v go to select campaign screen and click the
smell of napalm campaign , note ,you'll see only the first mission on
the list,you need to finish the first one for the second one to show
up like in the original campaigns.
I have down loaded MOWV to another computer, and started from scrach, when I replace the op-set w/ the zip it should be in my profile/player folder, or at the same place that the org/op-set was after it has been removed? I will also try cut and paste insted of exstracting it. Thanks for the commo

nope ,dont think it got to do with steam or not , you just
placed something in the wrong location probably , the main
mow:v folder that you need to put the mods folder in, is the

I'm thinking of more than that. A modder like you could make more missions such as First Blood series, and Predator by Anold. I can't wait to see them.

In addition, I'd like to see a Command & Conquer: Red Alert mod based on Men of War. Hope Guys like you and SpeedWolf, ugopierini, etc can make them in near future.

Oh , that got nothing to do with the fog , select the troop you want
to hide in f3 entity mode ,and scroll down till you find the "discovered"
tab , turn it off , then you wont see that enemy in the mini map
or the game ,but you need to make a trigger to make it visible again ,
with whatever condition ,and then entity state command that turns
the discovered back to on .

Found the cord's, Awsome work, you da' man, I put the mod folder, and op-set file in the programs file/1c company/men of war vietnam and got it to work Thanks a million, I think it would not work with my steam because I believe the MOWV exe file is a steam run program file, on the steam network, so I downloaded the game without steam this time and got it to work. Again Thanks.

Hello man , i have tested your mission and i have few things to say,
I'll start with the positive , your mission idea is good ,
insane battle, hundreds of soldiers for both sides,and the classic
reinforcements implementation is something people will like and enjoy
for sure .

but ,there are some problems .


first of all, the objectives/tasks order and the talking timing are
all messed up ,not clear when to do what and in which order .

second thing , the endless spawn loop at the base ,that's a game breaker,
after a hour game i had like 60 enemy btr's and hundreds of soldiers if not thousands of enemy soldiers clogged up at base, my reinforcements points over ,one side of the base blocked with 80 btr's and the other side blocked by 3 or 4 AA guns with endless supply of troops to replace the dead crews ,i spent half hour on one killing it's crew over and over and over,just to see if the nightmare will end,it didn't...the rest of the base surrounded by fence
and since you didn't supplied AT grenades or explosives or vehicles, i couldn't
attack the base from any side beside those 2 overly guarded points.
my cpu heated up and the mission turned into unplayable lag fest where i didn't even had the slightest chance to win.

about the map itself ,it's the first map from the viet campaign again ,i already
made a version of that map ,third time the same map is getting a bit boring .

another small thing, the base pointers , you forgot to turn them off .
not critical but annoying to see them all the time.

so i suggest you get back to work , fix the problems,make some
changes to the map itself and send it for a test again .

i hope you wont take my criticism too hard , it's great for a first mission,
just need a bit more work before release imo .

To open other ways throught the base i put a green berret squad which arrives when you need it, they are full of c4 and dynamite ;).

you have to restrict the spawns , a btr and a group of soldiers
every 60 secs is ridiculous , especially when they spawn on the
other side of the map from where you start ,so by the the time
you reach the area you have 50 btr's mowing your soldiers from
miles afar,that's not fun man ,not to mention it's killing the cpu.
because the spawn goes on and on and on even if your soldiers
are not even close .

make it so the back up arrives only after the base was attacked
or when the player is actually inside the base .
and make it spawn only if the previous spawn have died , or
limit it by number of active btr's for example if there are more then
5 inhabited btr's it will stop the spawn . you can do all sort of stuff ,
but a auto spawn that got nothing to do with the player actions
that just goes on forever ,is not a smart mission design .



For the map you are right ,but now i think it's too late. I decided to use this map before your mission exit. I can change it a bit but not the main features . (The small base, the bridge, the village).


It's never too late , keep the base,bridge,village ,but
change the rest of how the map looks.
you know what ,fix the mission ,I'll change the map if you want
after you'll finish .

let them blink for 30 secs after the task/objective been called and
turn it off , most people will realize what they need to do ,even if
it wont blink forever .

you probably found that by now but you press space on direct control
to take off , i think you should definitely make some missions/maps of
your own and release them ,variety is a good thing ,you have experience
with the gem editor ? you made missions in the past ?

Don't worry, I won't get offended cause I'm not very good with the editor; I mean I know the basics and the triggering (not all the triggering but the basics :)) and waypoints, zones, etc.

I did make a few missions, but I only played them in the editor as I didn't know how to put them in the game... (those missions are now gone as I had to reinstall the game and I didn't keep my saves)

About the helicopter: I know how to take off, but there are a few problems with the editor: the helicopter flies like an airplane (it doesn't take off vertically) and you can't land it (eg. I'm flying it in direct control, press space and it just appears on the ground in a blink and it won't stop moving. If i cancel direct control, it just moves in circles very fast...)

The 2nd problem is that the special soldiers (John Merril, Carl Dillan, etc.) have no names in the bottom left corner of the screen; it's just their picture and it doesn't write "John Merril" or some other guy...

The 3rd problem is that all soldiers have no breed; It says: desc/human/singleplayer/etc...

I think I'm gonna need your help with the editor once again... :(

Also, I started making a new map, I'm still working on it but when it's done i'll get a few pics here... :)

welcome back Man o' war , yes inside the editor the helicopters act
like planes , there might be a fix for that in the future , but not at the
moment ,but inside the game it works fine ,and that's the important
thing , so you create in the editor and test and play in the game ,it's less
convenient then what we used to ,but at least it works .

same goes for your second and third problem , if it works in the
editor , i mean if the hero is there and working,you just dont see his
portrait,if the breeds are there just not displayed correctly
in the editor , (if they are not there at all you forgot to import
the files from the game.pak) then when you'll test it back in game
all the missing details wont be missing .

spray and pray made excellent explanation on his web site ,check
it out .

check your actor state commands for that group of soldiers ,maybe
you've mistakenly set them to stand.

I have finished the first mission "Final Stand", it was awesome but I'm not able to run the second mission "Killing Fields".

When I press the "spacebar" to continue, the screen went blank and I press again, it close the whole program. Anyone have this error? I love this mod and please help.

because like i said people all ready played this map on the original
campaign, and on a slightly modified version of it in my first mission .

anything goes , maybe to change the path of the river a bit (not the
bridge area) shave a few hills here ,add a few hills there ,make the village
a village and not 2 houses,change roads locations etc.

I've been making good progress on the map, I just need 1 simple favour from you: can you tell me about the triggers that allowed you in the last russian mission to blow up those arty guns? You place a c4 in it and an icon appears to blow up the gun?

Well, I was actually thinking of making like a mini-campaign of 3 missions;
The first one (pictures) is gonna be played at night. Your convoy gets ambushed and your team are the only survivors. Then HQ gives you a top secret mission:CLASSIFIED and there are more mysteries to come as you try to destroy the enemy secret underground facility...

The 2nd one would be underground and it's gonna take a while to be built and all that but basically you are gonna try to destroy the weapons and prototypes and that....

The 3rd one will be in the morning; you get outside, you try to defend yourselves aginst an entire enemy army while waiting for evacuation...

So, what do you think? :grin:

hmm, so you are the second person that have the second mission crash ,
you tried the last version (v4) ? try to delete the previous mod folder and
drag the newer one from the v04 rar and see if there is any difference .

what version of the game do you have ?

anything goes , maybe to change the path of the river a bit (not the
bridge area) shave a few hills here ,add a few hills there ,make the village
a village and not 2 houses,change roads locations etc.

thomas ,this seems to be Direct3D related ,try to update your
video drivers or DirectX , also it seems you are the only one
that reported this problem so far , and that increase the chances
that the problem is on your end .

i might over did the details in that map ,it's real heavy compared to the
rest of the maps , what computer rigs you 2 have ?

trying to understand the cause of this , as far as i know most people

the second mission , if it's not too hard let me know if you get the same
error as thomas91 mentioned few posts above yours:
(eSurface::FromDXTexture: _texture can't be NULL (esurface.cpp, 276)

I'm trying to figure what the problem is but the only 2 persons that
reported the second mission crash were pretty shy on giving me details about their game versions (steam or not special or not etc) cpu, ram ,exact
error messages or anything else that might help me identify the problem ,
now you are the third person with that problem , which is really
weird cause for most people it does work it seems .

to open the third mission try this work around :

go to :

C:\Documents and setting\%USERNAME%\My Documents\My Games\men of war:vietnam \profiles\player

(if you use other profile go to the active profile folder)

open the file game_progress.set with a text editor(back up the file
before in case you mess things up)

find the code :

{"single/vnewmissions/vmod2:0"

and add below it :
{completed}

then save and exit .

(you can see how it's done in the file itself with missions you all ready
finished,just imitate how it was done in previous missions )


My game_progress only has

It only shows the 1st mission i completed, not the others

Thanks for the extra missions. I just start the first one. after destory the base on the other side of the river. There is no new mission and the VC keep attacting the hill. I even push the AA gun and motor back to the hill to defend it. Did I miss something, please help.

Just started both missions. Working great. I only played a couple minutes, but had no problems. I did notice a couple Enemy soldiers were blue, that was the first two that you encounter and that was in "Crime Scene". I can't wait to give them my full attention! Thanks for the Hard Work!

"Crime Scene" is a multi task mission where you have to conquer mainly a village and a base. It's an experiment cos i tried to make a more reactive enemy so you will see vc counterattack, retrat to reorganize and re-board abandoned mgs and things like that. Have fun.

Men of peace it's only a matter of time. I'm quite busy at the moment. I have added a few buildings in the map, i'm thinking about other possible improvements and then i will send you the updated version. P.S. I'm adding a elevated wooden bridge(small_bridge) but i've problems in merging all parts together.

Great Job guys! Men of Peace, I did notice on your latest mission a minor glitch. In the middle of the map there are a couple VC pill boxes, when there are explosions in that area it has an exploding "water" effect instead of dirt. Not a biggie, just thought I would mention it. Anyway, keep up the good work!

Update :

currently includes six missions:

the first mission got helicopter & and few tanks and many troops
(in relation to original MOW:V).
You play on the U.S side , fighting against endless wave of Vietcong infantry
trying to capture a hill you defend ,and a enemy base to take down in other part of the map as well .

this mission was built on a slightly modified version of the original first map in the Vietcong campaign .

In the second mission you play on the US side , assisting and leading
assault on a village ,and dealing with other sort of nasty surprises .

If you always wondered if it's a good idea to use a flamethrower as
a weapon in the jungle ,this mission is for you...

third mission is a defensive map ,once again you play on the U.S side,
this time defending a base which is under heavy attack .

fourth mission starts with a river patrol but turns into a raid
on a village and later on big river fight .

fifth and six missions : (read in page 9 of this thread)

It's kinda strange but the second mission won't load anymore. After I hit the spacebar, the spinning windows circle thing shows up and I have an error when I alt tab out. I re-extracted the second mission out of the original zip that I know worked but no go. I haven't changed anything in my install.

Hey man , first of all the best way to control a heli is with direct
control not mouse , and page up page down you set it's height ,
and this is how the helis are coded in this game .
IMO 1c didn't made the helis available to players exactly because
of this reason . because they are annoying to use ,and overpowered
if there are no AA guns around .

Men Of Peace, I finally managed to get all the missions working and completed every1 except the Hamburger Hill (it's awesome, but I just can't complete it :lol: )
And I've decided to put a hold on my so called "project" until the release of the patch as I thought the missions wouldn't work properly and all the effort would be wasted....

Soooo, I've been tossing this idea for a mission in my head for some time, and I thought I'd share it with you:

It is called Fight Fire With Fire and basically a US peaceful convoy, carrying the wounded and medicine, was utterly crushed by the NVA and HQ has lost contact with them and your team is sent in.

You find the convoy and get ambushed by the NVA and run into the jungle (or some other shelter) and call in for reinforcements (tanks, infantry, airstikes) and manage to fight off the enemy ambush team, (consisting of possibly a tank and a lot of infantry) at which point you find an enemy supply depot which is heavily guarded and you get the task to destroy it.

However, things go wrong while you try to destroy it and NVA call in a massive backup (tanks, helis, APC's and loads of infantry) and you have to hold out until the backup arrives (the defence lasts about 30 minutes, enemy spawns when only a few units of the first wave are left, for eg. 40 units of infantry as a 1st wave, when only 5 are left, 2nd "heavily armed" wave launches) during the time you have available only howitzer and airstike support; ideally your "army" will consist of 3-4 tanks and 30-50 infantry... not to mention some ZU-23's which were already at the base :mrgreen:

[at the begining, when ambushed, spawn 3-4 tanks and 20-30 infantry and set them as allies, then when you get the task to destroy the depot, transfer them to your command]

Feel free to make any changes, or don't make the map at all.
It's totally your call, I just thought I'd give you an idea :grin:

Note: The best way to do this is to make "some" changes to the Bon Voyage To Cambodia map as it already has a sort of a supply depot.

I'm working on a new mission but i don't know when it will be complete. I have a prob: is there a height limit in map making? I'm asking cos in my map men don't shoot above 1250 meters. Above that height they kill eachother only by knives and hands. That's strange.

Men Of Peace, I've finished 90% of that map, still have to make the enemy counterattack...

I've been wanting to import a flashlight from a mod for the MOW, and when I place it in the editor it has its shape (it even glows at night, as its supposed to) but when I pick it up it turns into a ! and it doesn't glow...

I've imported the "fonar_ruchn" (thats the name of the lamp file) into MOWV resource/e3.pak file (it's under "weapons")

I was wondering if you'd know if I did something wrong?

I'll get some pics as soon as I can.

2 things ,you dont need to import stuff into the pak file ,
just recreate the folder in the same order outside the pak
and import the files to that folder (preferably in a mod folder,
you can try it in the vnewmissions folder for example) .

second thing , did you imported the related files from the
\Resource\set\stuff folder of the mod you tried to import the
flashlight from ?

cool man , when you finish it send it over and if you want

I put animation with open command and i also used entity state trigger (i set them "opened"in tag) but ai humans don't pass throught the door . I always must to unlock doors directly(a locker icon appears) to make them work properly.

Try adding "effect" trigger (i think its under "other" or "generic") and in the effect box type in "open" to open then (after a delay) "close" to close.

How do we change the sounds for airstrikes, for aircraft? right now we have an F-4 and a UH1 doing airstrikes, but the sound is of a WWII aircraft airstrike, and dose not show ordinace drop and impact.

Ugopierini I will try to help you as musch as I can, but I may not be able to do it as I'm working on a few maps and importing some other stuff and as I don't know everything, but just say your problems here and I'll try to help you out. :)

Yeah, I noticed that problem as well...

I tried adding all sorts of ammo to the f4 but none of it works so you have to place a few waypoints and connect them and then add the "spawn" trigger; if you put "air attack" trigger you get the WWII sounds. However, you can try adding the "waypoint" trigger and adding "sound" trigger (maybe it's music, I don't know) and adding the sound of a modern airstrike... I haven't tried that yet, but feel free to do it if you want to. :grin:

I did copy the fonar file (it's size is 1KB) from resource/set/stuff/pistol to MOWV/resource/entity/reac mod/weapons/fonar_ruchn etc. and I still have the same problem... :confused:

Then I copied the entire set file from the mod to MOWV/resource/set and still nothing...

Can you help me out?:confused:

If anyone else knows the solution to this problem, please tell me!

I need help. I want to make a vehicle (a m113)act as a bulldozer against other vehicles(crushed or not inhabited). In a normal situation the vehicle crush the first abandoned vehicle and stop engines. I want not to make it stop. Any idea? I have bridges in my map and i want the ai to clean them in game.

that you want to include in the new release send it over in the next few days.

Man o' war same goes to you, if you finished that mission you worked on .

and to answer your question ,just zip or RAR your mission folder,
upload it to mediafire or something and send me the link in private.
dont forget to include the texts and any other stuff that located
in other folders (if you use any,like for example custom environments.)
just send it all in one folder and I'll take care of all the placements
of the files in the right locations and the mod setting issues.

about that flashlight , can't be sure but it seems you transferred
the folders to a wrong location , if you want send me a download
link in private to that mod ,and when I'll have spare few minutes
I'll check it out and let you know .

ugopierini ,sorry man no time to experiment i can only suggest
some things that might work or not ,maybe try to disable AI movement ,
make sure that all the vehicles are light enough for the m114 to
bulldoz cause it's not heavy vehicle , or go for the easy option and
just use a tank instead .

I was thinking of making actually a campaign instead of 1 map, I've already made 2 maps on my own and used 4 of the already made ones. It's basically about chasing a Russian officer responsible for war crimes against the USA... I've made only 1 mission so far (the 1 we talked about) and still working on others... it's gonna take a long time for em to be made...

Hello, guys some of the people in our group have been trying to edit the sound files, but still we have not been able to do so in our attempts at this time, we have also tryed arming the f4 with bombs from the presest that are given, it might have to be script some how. We also have been looking at the MOWA and othere series to see how they had the aircraft to drop ordance, we will pop smoke if we find out how it's done.

I sat there for about 20 minutes and the convoy would never come, it's quite aggervating cause i really wannna get through the mission.

The convoy dont show up ? first time i hear about this one .
sorry for the inconvenience .

you can do 2 things , one is to restart the mission or load
earlier save and get to that point again and see if there is
any difference ,because i played that mission many times
and so did other people and as far as i know you are the
first one that had this bug .

or if you dont have patience for that you can open up the
next few missions this way :




go to :

C:\Documents and setting\%USERNAME%\My Documents\My Games\men of war:vietnam \profiles\player

(if you use other profile go to the active profile folder)

open the file game_progress.set with a text editor(back up the file
before in case you mess things up)

find the code :

and add below it :

this should open the third mission in the game .

if you want to open the rest of the missions (beside the last one)

add the parts of the code you need to the game_progress.set file .

I think you need to kill every vc and burn a few houses.

When I replay it a few days later, I have the same problem even I had burn every houses and the convoy task didn't happen. It is very odd.

Men Of Peace just finished your last mission and I have to say it's friggin' awesome!!! :grin::grin: I enjoyed blowing up entire town with the arty :-P

Dropping the idea of making the campaign with those 6 missions, figured it'll be a whole lot easier to send them to you one by one, after I make them. If it's not 2 hard for you, think you could edit them a bit (finishing work and such) when you get them? Thanks anyway! :)

Maybe, there was a few vc Left, but i had such a small force i didn't wanna risk it.

I gather all the troops from front line into the fort and after 2 hours playing, the game crashes....

thanks man , about mission 7 ,you suppose to destroy the enemy tanks
after you get the destroy enemy tanks message and task ,after you destroy
certain number of enemy tanks the mission is over , the catch is
that if you dont destroy enough of them the next wave wont spawn ,so
you need to get also those that are not attacking you .

i made many balance tests to this mission , found out that after
about 4000/4500 dead enemies the game crashes so i had to tune
everything down to avoid this, guess all the dropped items from
4500 + dead soldiers hits some engine limits .

sounds like you barricaded yourself in the base while ignoring
the tanks and killing wave after wave of soldiers until you reached
that critical point .

These missions are great, but unfortunately they are a complete headache to play due to the insanely low FPS I get during them. I recently bought a new graphics card and can run Skyrim on ultra settings perfectly with great FPS, but with MoWV, even though I've lowered the graphic settings to the lowest they can go, I'm still left with awful framerates and units that move in slow motion because of it...

The third mission was almost unplayable for me due to the countless units and the awful FPS it caused.

I will take a shot at helping Raz. Replace the options.set file in your Documents with the one provided with the mission. Copy the folder "Mods" into your Men of War Vietnam folder. You dont have a "mods" tab in MOWV like in Assault squad, the mission will show up in the campaign menu at the bottom called "The Smell of Napalm".

Did you add them in the option\mod in game? In option there's near video audio etc there's "mod". There you can activate all subdirectories in mod folder. After the last patch you can do it .

I found out what I did wrong and got it working but under The Smell of Napalm should I be seeing all the seven missions or do I have to complete one to move to the next?

You can complete a mission to pass to the next mission or you can modify the game progress file as already explained in a previous post

i have a question regarding the Hamburger Hill mission, you said that more men can be recruited in this mission, and in-game there is a text prompt that also tells me i can recruit other men if needed.
for whatever reason, i am unable to recruit any other men - is there some special command to do it? i've been trying the little hand icons, collect/use commands, but can't find anything that actually allows me to recruit anyone. my first squad slowly gets whittle daway, and without the reinforcement/recruit ability, i think i'm really gonna struggle to complete this one.
any suggestions welcomed. thanks in advance

You have to wait until one of your guys dies, then you can recruit guys to replace them. Just get next to the AI soldiers and a hand should replace the pointer when you move over a recruit.

Yeah I noticed that as well.

Also, the mission objective to 'secure the other side of the river' doesn't seem to be triggering for me, I've wiped out hordes of NVA, and pushed them back to their spawning point behind hill village, they just keep spawning and the mission wont advance/complete (whatever the case is). Anyone know what's going on?
