Someone seems to have filled the fountains in Trafalgar Square and the one in front of Buckingham Palace with blue paint!

I tried landing on it, but it is definitely water (or quicksand!)
I've also had it crash twice while in the Tiger Moth - looking down in the cockpit seemed to cause it.

Another bug to add Furbs.
We still see the old E1/E3 cockpit in the E4 instrument panel reflections :confused:.
I know its not a real time reflection so they just need to take another picture... not too much work hopefully.

It should work everywhere with the E3B, but I have problems offline (probably me) but E4 is bugged.

Probably reported but with beta patch i got many CTDs - every my game was crashed after some time.

Same here, dust, clouds and anything along those lines cause massive drops in frame rates now.

Ok well maybe you have some kind of super-eyes that can look directly into the setting sun and still see stuff, but I can't. That washed out look is exactly what happens to me when I try to, for instance, drive towards a sunrise or sunset. It's because the irises in your eyes close to pinholes. It is actually quite a convincing lighting effect.
Yes I think the same. Talking about it, I like very mutch what happens looking to bright places when I play ARMA2, like the irises that need some time to adjuste itself to the new bright level and after that you can see better

Well, no doubt there is some kind of memory leak present now... Have been playing multiplayer the last three nights which must be the first time ;) Like many others have reported it crashes after about an hour. Looked down on my Logitech display last time it got stuck (10 mins ago) and it was on 65% memory usage... And as I have 8Gb that sounds leaky to me as the game previously was on about 44% when I checked half an hour earlier. And it gets completely stuck and I have to use the task manager to kill it. Memory dumps available on demand ;)

Planes still moving too much on the ground - ie I spawned into a plane and it was sliding backwards down a hill! Eventually slid so far and fast it blew up! Also planes slowly rotating on the ground even though engine isnt started yet.

That's the red-out/wounded effects artifacts i saw in the 109E-4. So i guess it's a universal thing. Good, because it probably will be easier to fix that if it was specific to a single cockpit :-P
I am still getting square boxes on the landscape,blue line are still slightly in the horizon,micro stutters are still present and the dust while taking off and landing slows my computer down like crazy,also guys how do i get rid of the window in the left hand bottom corner in the pic,thanks

Have a look at the sticky FAQ thread on the main forum page, the first thing it explains is how to configure the info windows.
For starters, make sure your mouse cursor is enabled (default toggle key is F10 to switch between mouse look and mouse cursor), then hold down your alt key and left click on the window to select it. Now that it's selected you can right click on it to display the menu and select "close" from the options there.
Will the official patch overwrite the beta when it comes out? We won't have to reinstall the whole game again will we?
It will automatically overwrite it like it did for every other patch up till now ;)
- Tiger Moth sounds are incomplete.
- 109's flaps do not extend or retract.
- When zooming Outside of the aircraft, it is ALSO zoomed inside of the aircraft
- Aircraft functions such as (for example) open cockpit don not work unless you are IN the cockpit.

The flaps on the 109 are manually operated, to simulate this you need to keep the button pressed otherwise the moment you stop pressing it they stop retracting/extending. They work fine for me.
A lot of the radio commands are still not functioning. I really hope this is finally a full feature in the final patch. I'm getting tired of not being able to make decisions in the air.
Radio commands were not supposed to be in this patch because they are not finished yet (new ones are being added on top of the previously existing one). Some of them work, the rest are placeholders (just the titles/text in the menus). That being said, some of the new placeholder fields in the radio commands menu are very promising. Fly a bomber and have a look, they are apparently working on individual crewmen commands ;)
Sounds still disappear when playing back tracks recorded when flying the Spit IIa. All is fine during mission but play back shows the motor is cutting in and out, gauges going crazy, backfires. Really comical. Not sure what is up with that one. Not a priority for me but a real annoyance.

That's an old issue with the track viewer and not specific to this patch.
The problem is probably the CEM, it's way too complex to have it on for all aircraft (costs about 10 FPS per aircraft), so the AI are simply flying with artificial rules in place so that they don't "cheat" and not the full CEM available to us.
That's probably what's confusing the track player, since track playback is essentially an AI re-run of your control inputs during the mission. It's a known issue, so i guess we'll see fix for it at some point. Probably they will make the tracks record the CEM parameters too on top of our stick inputs, but i don't know how that would play out for tracks taken in multiplayer with a bunch of aircraft needing "CEM rules" enabled for the track.
Maybe they are? :) The Swedish air force bought a bunch of P-51:s during the last months of the war as a stop gap solution until Saab had gotten own production up and running (and then some more just after the war). The first thing they did after they got them was to remove the ash trays that where fitted in the cockpits ;)
Talking anecdotes I also remember reading that one of the american ferry pilots buzzed a bridge in central Stockholm and got reprimanded afterwards for it... As the war was still not over I guess he thought the ferry mission to Sweden instead of going to Berlin did not get his adrenaline pump going ;)
Crazy thought smoking in a cockpit with tons of gasoline behind you...
Hahahaha, cool story. Gasoline or not, flying a 6 hour escort deep into Germany and back, or even worse, a shuttle mission to Russia would surely get tedious at times: i woudn't settle for just an ashtray, i'd ask my ground crew to fit a folding dinner table and maybe a portable toilet too :-P

Flying Spit IIA and noticed a few bugs:
1. Sometimes the engine sound cuts completely instantly on negative g instead of spluttering a bit first (bug?)
2. Headshake is far too strong now. I don't care if this is realistic (which I doubt) but it verges on unplayable with headshake on. EDIT: It was my freetrack! Sorry about that, a corrupted profile...
3. Mirror bugs seem even worse after patch? They always flickered on when you got a bit close (ahem) to an enemy plane but now they also seem to respond to damage sometimes with weird colours that look a bit like heat maps. I'll try and get a screenshot.

When you get close to a ju88 (player aircraft at least) you see a lot of smoke coming from the engines and a massive decrease in fps.

Taking a note from Insubers thread here is a compilation of the bugs found so far.
1. FPS Drop (Roughly 10%).
2. Gunsight Dimmer no longer works.
3. Landing gear hydraulic noise can be heard when player switches to neutral gear down postion.
4. BF 109 E4 Window opens up the wrong way.
5. BF 109 E4 Can't drop bombs, SC50 bomb rack positioned incorrectly.
6. BF 109 E4 No Auto Prop.
7. BF 110 Instrument Panel lights are always on.
8. BF 110 No mine shells!!!
9. Cockpit glass appears opaque rather than transparent in outside views.
10. Target Dots should be modified and removed from ground targets and can be seen through ground and clouds.
11. Tiger Moth can crash the game.
12. Black areas in red out and injured pilot effect.
13. Contrails need work, they do not start off at the wing tips and are a bit to thick at the beginning.
14. Sun blinding effect needs more work, happens to often.
15. Horizon can be seen through aircraft.
16. Game crashes more often.
17. Sometimes you can hear cockpits after bailouts.
18. Stuka smoke cant be seen by pilot, but can by other players.
19. Stuka rear gunner ammo hang in mid air after canopy ejection.
20. Ammo counters don't work (needs verification).
21. Effects have a box/outline. Nvidia users can remove this by rolling back to patch 275.33.
22. Lights visible through cockpit.
I want add that the blenheim don't release the bombs also.

I wish I knew which FM is correct in this regard. This and the earlier models are harder to fly but more satisfying (and really not that difficult) but I suspect they are incorrect.

Love the new sounds and new coloring, got a few bugs though.
1. Often when looking straight ahead there is no engine sound after start up, sound is there when looking left or right but not straight ahead on both E-1 and E-4. This is an intermittent fault, if it's ok when you spawn no problem, but next time you spawn it may be faulty and will stay so unless you respawn a few times.
2. No sound from the nose mg's of the 109 E-1, and E-4
3. The glare when looking toward the rough direction of the sun is a bit overdone I feel, at the moment as soon as you look anywhere that the sun is on screen you are affected. It is a cool effect but should be more specific to when the sun is near the center of the screen. Are AI affected by this in any way?
4. Occasional launcher crashes, 3 in 6hrs of play

New bug.
When you get close to a ju88 (player aircraft at least) you see a lot of smoke coming from the engines and a massive decrease in fps.

Part of the aircraft paint + great customizing "visual weathering" effects do not works anymore correctly this beta patch (sometimes), also some with a number of squadron numbers of the characters changed too gray in color → example when these should be in black.
The massive clouds became too white (day time) - The previous version, also all of these were in my view quite well (the cloud textures intermittent flashing of the reading, the texture flickering does not appear only in the clouds, but it does occur from time to time in many other textures (little flickering – not all place or all the times). User videos please note that the same problems occur also with other PCs configurations - the latest nVidia graphics cards driver install just removed this problem "GTX 500 series", but not completely my case).
The above-mentioned problems are particularly unpleasant to CloD film-makers. I had yet to return to the previous version because of these (however that is yet beta patch).
In fact, I considering seriously, so anymore meaningful to do make sim machinima, maybe must be near future switch completely to make only 3D animations short films, because game world's is limited access (I mean also gameplay camera views handling etc.) and numerous visual problems are perpetual absurdity, and I think this is precisely the fact which makes this very difficult and unnecessary time-consuming work, when forced to take the same scene several times in the video captures, and hope that one of them should not be the graphics texture problems (My case 40% CloD movie making time lost this - will always think about and apply that to how to circumvent the many problems and i don't mean only visual problems).
A number of games, bugs and bugs are an eternal problem, and it just seems to grow with it what we often, in particular, these simulation games are changing.
However I understand very well aware that this is not really no longer an easy thing to do on each PC configuration fully functional games, especially on this scale hardcore simulators like example CloD is. Clod is best WW2 sim anyway and RoF is best WW1 combat fly sim a today = Very hard and difficulty projects - But of course this is just my opinion.

Track-Ir will no longer center via F12 while in game, I have to alt-Tab out, Center then alt-tab in, had the same problem for a little while when I first installed 2 patches ago so I'm not sure if it's related to this patch. Can still see object "dots" through aircraft, terrain, not as bad as before but still visible. Seems like brakes on Spit and Hurri are either full on or full off and if they are on a key press a single tap can ground loop an aircraft, is this correct?

I'm getting weird discoloured german tactical codes. For example what was black before is now a very dark grey ... as if the new gfx adjustments have a negative influence on the markings. The Balkenkreuze, however, are fine. Curious issue ...

I want add that the blenheim don't release the bombs also.
Are you sure? First thing i tried with the new patch was the Blenheim to test the bombsight. Bombs released fine and i got some good hits on the target ;)

That's because they didn't announce they would have completed radio commands for this patch, it's only the graphics and new sounds for this one. What you see in the radio menu is mostly placeholder commands that will come in another patch ;)

Track-Ir will no longer center via F12 while in game, Strange.. Mine still works Bong.. what version of TIR do you have? I have 5 with the latest software running.. Sounds like you have the F12 key asigned in game maybe? As in the game is digesting the F12 press before TIR sees it.. Maybe try asigning it to a different key that you know you are not using in game and see if that works

Not sure if this is a ground physics bug or an aircraft bug.. But basically the wind is causing the planes to spin while sitting on the ground.. And by ground I mean grass field, not cement runway. It is most notable in the Spitfire..
And it happens at very low wind speeds, much lower (more than half) than the min speed that warnings would be sent out to local air fields in the real world.

Are you sure? First thing i tried with the new patch was the Blenheim to test the bombsight. Bombs released fine and i got some good hits on the target ;)
really? from the pilot view or bomber view? I tried only from pilot.
today flying online on REPKA server my FPS dropped at about 1 FPS/sec. had to exit and reconnect, never happened without the beta patch. Also seems that the flames from the exhaust are a big FPS hit now.

I switched to F11 for this long ago and all works fine.
I cleared all view keys as I have TrackIR and set centring on keypad 8. I use F9-F12 for Teamspeak/Ventrilo channel and whispers as they are also redundant for me in CoD/Il-2.

Not sure if it's related to sound but if it is it's worse than the previous sound bug.
Sound stops and game freezes. have to ctrl alt delete out. never had this problem.

Also noticed that there is no force feedback when flying the Emil-4.
On all the other planes I have force feedback on my MS Sidewinder FFB2.
Not so on the Emil-4.
Would be nice to get that fixed in the final version of the new patch !

I don't have time to read the entire thread for repeats but here are my findings. All these bugs were experienced online on the ATAG server. Probably this late in the list nobody will read it anyway.
1. Sound bug, after a respawn the spitfire engine sounds very quiet and like a bee buzzing, the airflow sound was almost louder than the engine. 2 respawns later the sound came good again.
2. No cannon sounds in MP.
3. No FFB on shooting, probably a good thing as it's overdone on the 109.
4. Right after takeoff the screen froze and the Spitfire cockpit I was in disappeared. The game didn't crash however, chat and the menus still worked but the landscape was frozen. A respawn fixed this.

The second hand on the 109 clocks is for the timer. You can set it to start with the button under the clock. It doesn't track seconds normally, just when you have it activated.
Well it goes for all german planes but the seconde handle of the clock use to run before the patch just fine but now it stopped. I never even had to activate it before so you're sure you're right there??

flightmodel of all the planes is wrong anyway. All the 109s for example are too slow compared to the real planes! Hope they will fix that as well soon !!!
AI behaves more "normal" after the new patch, my impression.

Here some bugs that I meet. Hope they haven't been reported before:
-Trees throw Shadows, whereas Landscape itself doesn't(see red lines). Not a big issue as the chanel-map doesn't have a lot of hills etc. but would be a "nice to have".
-Cliffs of Wilmington look strange, I guess this should not be like this.

This is actually correct. The Seconds hand and the small inner dial are in built Stop watch functions. You start and stop the stopwatch function using the button below the clock. Elapsed minutes are displayed by the small circular dial and seconds by the second hand. The normal and minute hands operate as per a standard clock.
This Luftwaffe clock is pretty standard and was also used by many Air Forces after WWII... its still in service.
This is now correct, it was previously in error.

Not a bug but terribly annoying: since the patch, using the same settings as before, the game has extreme slowdowns the first one to two minutes when flying over a city (e.g. London). As soon as I do some turns and somehow all textures etc. are completely loaded, it runs smooth and with even less stutters than before patch. Just strange that when starting a new mission, the performance is completely crap...
Merlin engine cuts too readily on negative G. This has been covered before and was improved before this patch. Please revisit.
I have 5.1 6-channel sound (front pair, rear pair, centre and subwoofer) on my headphones. When I close the canopy the engine sound levels do not change but a friend with stereo phones says the engine sound reduces when he closes his canopy.
I wish I knew which FM is correct in this regard. This and the earlier models are harder to fly but more satisfying (and really not that difficult) but I suspect they are incorrect.
Well I would just like 1C to put a G meter on their test aircraft and check it against this post

I'll be happy to accept their findings if the Merlin is close to that but I think it is cutting out at around 0.7g instead of 0.3G.
In other words I think it has been set to misfire at a reduction of 0.3G instead of when it reaches a level of 0.3G.

It is impossible play Co-Op and to have a seat in aircraft when Options->Realism->Aircraft Swirching->Cannot Select Sides is on.
In Co-Op when you click a seat in aircraft the mission starts immediately without ever clicking Fly button

Open your steam games library, right click on "Proprieties", go to "UPDATES" tab and disable the automatic updates
Sorry, thats the wrong one. I am running the beta patch and I have Updates turned on. Nothing will happen until the new patch is formally released through Steam and then it will update.
To stop your beta version reverting to the current Steam version, open Steam, go to Steam.... Settings and the 'Downloads+Cloud' Tab and uncheck 'Enable Steam Cloud synchronisation for games which support it'.
That 'Cloud' setting (when 'enabled') synhronises your game with whatever was last recorded for you on the Steam server so it will keep reverting your game to the stored configuration unless you disable it. It is meant to allow you to run the game on a different PC and keep them synchronised.
By the way, to get back to the current Steam version from the beta, right click on the game in the Library, go to the 'Local Files' Tab and click on 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache' and Steam will reset you to the current Steam version.

In the London free flight in a spit I can shoot fuel storage tanks and they explode. When I try the same thing in the France free flight in a 109 the tanks don't explode. Worse yet, after firing 2 or 3 cannon bursts, the game forze up.

Bf-110 "rodeo" bug still there. Recap: Going into a dive, once you exceed 450-500 or so, the plane starts to make violent jinxes all around. Makes dive bombing with Bf-110 quite unpleasant.

furbs, you haven't included that the Merlin negative 'G' cutout needs investigating.
I don't expect everyone to agree with me but comparative tests in FSX where I can install a G meter in the A2A Spitfire indicate (not prove) that cutout is occurring nearer 0.7G than 0.3G.
I just want MG to investigate this and confirm their settings.

I have the same kind of "Weird graphic" as merlin1 (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showpost.php?p=332070&postcount=24), i.e. the same flashy colors, but they are less spread out. Happens in cockpit and outside of cockpit, tested in one of the quick missions (fight 6 vs 6 above the Channel).

Ju-87 Wheelbrakes are to weak compared to other wheelbrakes. I've tested it extensively, all the other german planes can hold themselves with 100% wheelbare and 100% throttle and prop picth, but Stukas begin to roll with 100% brakes 15% throttle and 100% pitch. Also differential brakes have almost no effect on turning. With other german aircraft you can turn 180° almost at the same place, even with non differential engine controlls (the Bf-109 also can) just with using the differential wheelbrakes and rudder. In Stukas you can't even perform a 90° turn in 100 meter.

My game now runs much worse. Before I could run smooth with settings on high but now I must us low or medium and also get stutters where before did not.

Looking trough the bombsight (trying He111) several bugs are visible. I don´t know if these are known ones or related to this patch, so i´m posting here:
1- Possibly related to sprites appearing inside cockpits, clouds are seen also overlaying the black zone outside circle in bombsight. Really annoying.
2- At medium far distances water is not rendered so rivers and sea are sand.
3- The sim lets you increase the distance so much that you can even left behind the circle black zone completely and see landscape all over the screen.
I did a simple test, just start the game, choose a server and connect. Select a side (red or blue). Start the task manager (control+alt+canc) or right click on the taskbar and select task manager from the context menu. If you look at the launcher.exe you see it jump from 500 mb to over 1 gb then drop again at 500mb, but the game with pre-patch don't do this. Can somebody confirm it? I think this is the problems I have online with alot of stutters and freezes, FPS dropping at 1 sec. (yes, 1 FPS)

ive just done a couple of quick tests and noticed something too , been having low fps myself so i decided to start the game direct from the launcher.exe from the game folder and now my fps are much better , i even thought my Xfire was working but when i checked that its not , only 17% max on second GPU .
ive deleted the old icon off the desktop and created a shortcut to the launcher.exe , much better now .

hhmmm... I don't know really how was at the start because I got the game just when the latest patch was released, but it is very bad, not noticeble offline, but online it's just impossible to fly after some minutes.

Installed/reinstalled the Beta patch 3 times using JSGME mod enabler and had the following occur.
1. Graphic corruption ( see screen shots ) is colored pixels throughout the cockpit with red lines along the inside bottom of canopy.
2. When recording a track of current mission, the playback is corrupted ie' gauges and engine seems as though they are posses by Demons, even though I'm flying the mission it shows no prop rotation, Rpm gauge is on 0 and manifold pressure gauge is max out, pitch=forward, Throttle=idle and mixture=rich. Any Ideas? Thanks TC
I didn't have this graphic problem before the Beta update but I did have the track creation problem in the previous patch.

Installed/reinstalled the Beta patch 3 times using JSGME mod enabler and had the following occur.
1. Graphic corruption ( see screen shots ) is colored pixels throughout the cockpit with red lines along the inside bottom of canopy.
2. When recording a track of current mission, the playback is corrupted ie' gauges and engine seems as though they are posses by Demons, even though I'm flying the mission it shows no prop rotation, Rpm gauge is on 0 and manifold pressure gauge is max out, pitch=forward, Throttle=idle and mixture=rich. Any Ideas? Thanks TC
I didn't have this graphic problem before the Beta update but I did have the track creation problem in the previous patch.
Why are you using JSGME? Use Winzip or 7zip to unzip the files directly to your game folder. I don't know how JSGME goes about it but we do know that some people even have problems if they unzip to a temporary file and copy them across. Just unzip to the game folder.
You can get back to pre-patch by right-click on CoD in Steam Library, select Properties, go to Local Files tab and click on 'VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE'.

I don't think that is a memory leak, usually a memory leak happens when a program doesn't clear memory registers that are no longer used, and keeps opening new ones. In turn slowly occupying more and more ram because a certain function keeps using new registers when it could just use the ones it doesn't need anymore.

no problem ;) I bought the game after I bought a new video card, I had a 4770 with 512mb, so I bought a 6950 with 2 GB and when I got the game I paid it only 15 euro, I prefer to wait some weeks after a game is released. In the meantime I played, and still play, IL2 1946 with and without mods.

ive just done a couple of quick tests and noticed something too , been having low fps myself so i decided to start the game direct from the launcher.exe from the game folder and now my fps are much better , i even thought my Xfire was working but when i checked that its not , only 17% max on second GPU .
ive deleted the old icon off the desktop and created a shortcut to the launcher.exe , much better now .

I gave it a try myself, with the old desktop icon, and launching from the game itself and trying out online. i watched the memory in the task manager, with the old icon, would work with 1,400,000k+ of memory when entering into the server, crashing, locking up, C++ errors, then starting from the launcher.exe in the cliffs folder it was running at around 900,000k memory usage, hasnt crashed on entry into the server, no lockup, no errors. Ill try it for a bit longer but looks to be helping me :) thanks for the heads up welsh :)

I am not disputing your findings as I haven't tried this yet (at work atm) but I am curious as to how this could work.
Isn't the desktop icon just a link to the .exe in the IL2 CoD folder ?

Not totally sure but the desktop icon call the game to start through Steam, while if you start the game through Launcher.exe the game just ask for verification and starts.
It seems equal but its not.

the icon installed by steam doesnt directly aim to the launcher exe, it points elsewhere. Im wonderinng to why this would make a difference, but i know im not trippin lol. Was playin on a server with clouds this arvs... I have never been able to do that without massive stutters. Also the game crashing whilst loading the server map at the selection screen and c++ errors have stopped. Weird as it sound, it seems to work for me :D

I tried this and it made no difference to my game...get in a furball near the dek and the whole game slows to a halt..
Even if im engaging a bomber on its own and i smoke it, it has a big FPS hit if im close...this wasnt happen prior to this Beta

I did a simple test, just start the game, choose a server and connect. Select a side (red or blue). Start the task manager (control+alt+canc) or right click on the taskbar and select task manager from the context menu. If you look at the launcher.exe you see it jump from 500 mb to over 1 gb then drop again at 500mb, but the game with pre-patch don't do this. Can somebody confirm it? I think this is the problems I have online with alot of stutters and freezes, FPS dropping at 1 sec. (yes, 1 FPS)

Memory leaks when the program continues to grow in memory footprint because garbage collection is not working (instanced objects are not removed and continue to exist). If it drops down to 500mbs that means garbage collection is working.

I'm sure this has already been pointed out (and I don't have time to search right now, just enough time to make a quick post), but just to say it's happening here too, especially since I only got the beta patch last night - I have multicoloured spots (mostly green, pruple and yellow I think) all over the cockpits of aircraft. There are most in the new E4 (which I assumed was just a bug related to that), but then I noticed they are all over the spit and hurri and are extremely noticable (they are tiny dots, but there are literally thousands of them, mostly in big groups, usually straight lines).
I can't get my system specs at the moment since I'm not at home, but I know my graphics card is a 2GB ATI 6950
It might be worth mentioning though that my PC has literally (just last night) come back from repairs, so if no one else is having this problem it could just be me and a resend to the repair guys might be in order.
Launcher crash in MP when I switch flags and select a base or stay in the menu screen for too long
In MP, opening Plane and Options menus results in those screens running in the background, I see brief glimpses of them when navigating through various options.

Hey guys I just upgraded to the MSI Lightning Xtreme 580 3gb and I can tell the game is much smoother from my gtx 260 and thats with the graphics turned all the way up. Before with my 260 I had everything on medium and a couple of things on low.
However, with everything maxxed except for the AA I get around 25 fps over London and 60 over the countryside.
I am very happy with that performance except that the stuttering is almost worse that when I had the 260. The game doesn't stutter at all unless I am at a very low altitude.... Like a couple of hundred feet.
Have other people seen this as well? I noticed people complained about a FPS drop since the beta patch. Has anyone with a similar build experienced the same thing?
I know the game still needs to be optimized more and so far I absolutely love my new card. It runs everything else at max except for this game.

I got the same problem like you,stutters below maybe 500 ft,so i have to disable grass and trees,if i use grass only stutters ,if i use trees only (low) stutters!i tried to lower texture quality to medium but it does the same thing....
I have to fly with no trees and grass,oh and also no clouds(fps hit)!!!I always use vsyinc on btw!
At higher altitude(above 500ft) without planes or with few ones is smooth!!!
Always had this problem with any patch!!!!!!!

folks, as it is clear now, that the stutters even appear on high end machines:
is there already a fix or guide to finally get rid of the stutters?
I have 50fps avg over london and have stutters also when below 500 ft...

Most of the stuttering is apparently caused by the textures caching into memory when flying near buildings. Having a video card with more than 1GB of ram helps reduce this as it means it can cache more textures into the memory where its easily accessible for the video card.
Its possible that the new renderer will deal with this issue and possibly have a better way to stream and load textures in without causing the stuttering.

Yea thats why I got the 3gb version of the 580 rather than the 1.5. I am very happy with the performance of this game with my new card but I just figured the stuttering would have practically disappeared. Again the only time it stutters is when I am below 300 feet or so. Very weird. I am going to mess with the settings here in a few minutes and see what I can do. Oh and kakkola I'll try turning off the grass and trees but I would hate not having these on as they add alot to the game.

So I just figured it out. I can have everything maxed but buildings and grass. Buildings are set to high and grass is off. With this I get around 40 fps over london and about 60 over the countryside. The grass is what was causing the low level stuttering. This to me is ridiculous because I don't think the game should be trying to render the grass when I am still a couple of hundred feet above the ground. I can't see the grass until I'm 50 feet or less. I think this just shows that Oleg has a lot more work to do on this engine before its where it's supposed to be.

Two bugs that I find REALLY annoying,
One, my aircraft slowly rotating on the ground hitting objects or revetments, and breaking off whole wings, tails etc... I'm sorry but airplanes do not weathervane while sitting on a grass field, my dad flies a 1/3 scale R/C Piper Cub on breezy days and it doesn't do this so a full size aircraft would not (unless it's blowing at 60kts and parked on concrete) fix this bug please, and for you trolls that think this is realistic a Spit weighs somewhere around 5000lbs and takes a considerable blast of propwash to get rolling so I doubt it's going to just roll around in the wind like a feather.
Two, taxiing forward and with little to no forward motion tipping up on it's nose and striking the prop or after rollout one tap on the brakes resulting in a prop strike and ground loop, ...not very believable.

but this thing your team has been unwilling to fix. I am getting disgusted by this "selective" approach. The reality was that the pilot could see the gunsight through his right eye.
#2. Make the prop pitch switch movement (up to increase, down to decrease) same for the Spitfire/ Hurricane AND the Bf109.
Why do I have to learn to use the same switch in a REVERSE way if I fly Axis or Allied planes???

#3. Big stutters (1-2 seconds) during the game. Only since the beta patch.
Very strange since practically the whole game is running from my RAMDISK.
#4. The Bf109 flies reasonably well with half a wing cut off.
With a little compensation (for the higher airlift of the left wing) I could fly this plane for hours and even (crash) land it.
Dogfight capabilities were lousy though (as SSF_Karhu realised).
In any case, obviously a bit overmodelled...

what I found works really good with the 109 gunsight is to set your freetrack/track ir side to side movement sensitivity really low, now lean to the left and recenter, now the gunsight is alot more visible
prop pitch needs to be switched, for now I just reverse in controls

This game is a train wreck. I won't be playing it tell a year after it's been patched up.
Had just a bit of time last night to check the new patch out - and had no time reading all the post here - so forgive me, if I repeat some things already discussed
What I like
- new engine sounds are wayyyy better; I like ther sound of an approaching plane or when it flies away - WOW
- the additional haze is not bad, just a bit overdone
- guns register better than before; damage animations and behaviour better (like engine dying down faster); longer tracer lines good
- radio chatter menu now more complete (although still not where IL2 was) . how do I tell my partner to go after the enemy ????
What I do not like
- landscape now looks less realistic than even before; like a toy landscape - still needs major rework
- unbalanced noise types - engine is most prominent, guns and chatter too low, although the loud registering of damage on the enemy was unrealistic before the patch
- still lousy KI - enemy planes usually let me shoot them down with evasive actions only in some special situations

- still wrong orientation arrows with Me109
- enemy KI as such
- sound balance needs adjustments

This Skyraider landed with no problem after a midaircrash in duxford this year. So its basicly possible!!!
and if i compare the pictures it looks quite realistic in CoD!
Even more realistic after I saw the Skyraider landing!!
Maybe the maddox-guys know a bit more about aviation as most of us computer nerds??!!

Well, here's a new bug for multiplayer. I joined a server and suffered a launcher.exe crash now when I reboot and try and join the same server, I am already in there (my name is still in the list) so authentication fails.
Its quite amusing I guess but it kinda feels like someone might be playing with my identity. (not that they could do my statistics or rep any harm :))
Oh, +1 to not blowing around on a cold start - chocks anyone?

maybe the performance loss is due to the fact, that the update also places a new logo.wmv into \SteamApps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\parts\core\GUI

Dont remember seeing this bug posted yet. Happens most in quick mission but i think it happens on multiplayer too. At start of mission all sounds working great. As soon as you pass the incoming fighters all high frequency engine sounds disapear. From this point on only low engine sounds remain making it very difficult to use to tell rpm of engine. Ide go into a dive, engine sounds fine but i look down and my db engine is at 2800 upm. Anyone else have this problem? Happens online at times as well. Think it has something to do with fly by sounds when other planes come past. Hope they fix it cause the sounds are great till this happens. Ps. I usually fly 109 so not sure if this happens in all planes.
maybe the performance loss is due to the fact, that the update also places a new logo.wmv into \SteamApps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\parts\core\GUI

This Skyraider landed with no problem after a midaircrash in duxford this year. So its basicly possible!!!
and if i compare the pictures it looks quite realistic in CoD!

I think you did not notice the size of the Skyraider (could see it during the crash wth the P-51) and the size of its wings compared to the WWII planes.
If I need planes which can basicaly fly with one wing I can find:

if i hit escape during a mission, it brings me straight to the desktop.and that happens several times, before i get to the ingame menu again.
i have this problem since the release, but it seems, that since the beta patch, it happens more often, and i have to press escape more often either.really annoying.
i dont know if the game is real full screen, cause after five minutes, my desktop screen saver shows up while im in the game, if i dont move the mouse or anything else.

Found more bugs in Co-Op:
If Host player clicks axis flag fast too slow and slower than client players, then client players can not see axis aircraft list to join. They see the Flag but they cannot enter any planes no matter if options are on Easy or Realistic. Workaround is for Host player to be really fast and preferably to enter cockpit before any client players click Axis flag. For some reason allies flag works better.
If Host chooses "Load Mission" and loads same mission again, the game will not clear mission data and the game doubles the total amount of allies and axis aircraft every time "Load Mission" is used. For example. If you have mission where Allies have 8 aircraft and axis have 2 aircraft, then using "Load Mission" once results 16 allied aircraft and 4 axis aircraft. Copies of aircraft are visible both on join/roster list and in game.
Co-Op/Red Attack - Isles of Doom.mis
AI controlled Bf 110-C4 crashes to mountain with airfield on top every time.

Has too few planes for blue side. Red has 10 planes and blue has 2 planes. So to mee this mission looks seriously misbalanced at least now when .CS-file including victory conditions are still with unfinished design status.
Other bugs:
Bf-110 C4 tail gunner sound effect jams to endless loop which continues even after the whole aircraft is destroyed.

That picture of the F-15 supposedly flown and landed with one wing gone is an urban legend. Just like the one in which a stunt plane loses a wing, and remains controllable by adding full power and hanging on the prop down to the ground. Youtube is full of this stuff.
An F-15 with a wing missing can't be controlled by using the other aileron to keep the plane level. Neither does an F-15 with one wing have enough lift to keep it in the air. No matter what the airspeed, the side with the good wing will always produce more lift than the other side, and it will roll w/o you being able to stop it.

Unfortunately it doesn't show up in screen shots. Last night I turned on a wondow to show radio transmissions (they are damn hard to hear in this game!).
It was working fine, window was basically transparent and unobtrusive. Today I started the game again and the same window was a solid dark gray. I tried removing the window, but even still the dark gray area on my screen remained!
Has anyone else seen this? That's a big chunk of screen that's basically rendered useless.

I already mentioned the issue with unclickable menues.
It got worse
I now no longer can make modifications to my control menue because all buttons are greyed out and are unclickable. I can access them by pressing tab and then enter but this is absolutely unhelpful if I want to asign a function to a key because the game thinks I want to assign the tab key to the selected function. This needs URGENT treatment.
We still have graphical bug on channel map!

Ok here we go after so many complains.
1) Great improvement with DX9, so i've finally pushed myself to change OS. RoF now runs great also in W7, so no more problems to run both the sim.
2) DX10 (Core Duo with 4GB and ATI 5770 HD):
Not really smooth but good enough (online) for my FPS standard. Good work Luthier.

A small bug with the Me109.
Set Magnetos to on, fuel to on then select ignition. Magneto's jump down to off position, then when the engne catches pop back up to the on position.
It is actually possible to start your engine with magnetos set to off, as they just jump up to on during the start-up sequnce.
Apologies if this has been raised as an issue already.

Just noticed this after some fair ammount time playing online over the weekend - I'm suffering a serious ammount of lag (or most other people are, but since it's almost everyone else I'm going to assume it's me that's at fault) to where the game is almost unplayable due to planes flying sideways, doing backfilps, rapidly climbing up/down whilst not pitching up or down at all (or even climbing up whilst pitching down), bullets coming from apparently nowhere and the like. It makes dogfights next to impossible.
Anyway, I never had lag before the patch and I don't have lag on anything else, I don't even see I have lag (no stuttering, just these weird movements in other aircraft and my wingman telling me I'm doing all sorts of crazy stunts when trying to fly in formation) on CloD. Anyone else having this problem?
Like I said, PC is handling the game fine and network is more than capable of taking the sort of strain CloD puts on it and I'm playing on the same server I was on pre-patch (Repka 2) so I can only guess it's down to the patch, but I could be wrong.

Probably is not a bug but please fix the missed prop, even if epilepsy filter is off. This no-feature is really terrible for the immersion. Bug or not, prop is missed in the beta or quite invisible.

Engine sounds to high cant hear voices,or cannon fire , thou sound is alot better , my jostick seems to respond badly now , jerky , seems ok in other sims ...however keep the work up , so i dont have to ask for a refund for a none finished prduct ...LOL

For my opinion is simple missed or half finished.
In the 109 you can see a slight haze, not so good however for my opinion, meanwhile in the Stuka is totally missed. So, is quite hard to say it is correct.

Computer lock up at random, no idea what causes this; black screen and have to force shutdown.
After a few online respawns engine sounds get quiet and tinny, exit game and restart returns sound to normal.

Airfield lights = Red & White shine through all buildings and aircraft.
Have not tested with other lighing objects such as lighthouse and other, but i suspect it will be the same.
Airfield lights are very dim and can only be seen when up close.

I dunno but I still get occasionally the sound bug during multiplayer, even with beta. To be precise I hear some engine sound when I keep my head (with stereo headset) in a very specific position but most of the time I just hear all other ambient sound but not the engine sound.

New beta patch has great colour, great sound, the mg's could be a little louder...
BUT
I get regular and constant freezes (have to force-quit), or sonic assault-type lockups which force a reboot. The dump errors usually involve an ATI module.
My frame rates have also dropped a touch, though the game seems smoother overall.
The game was formerly very stable on the previous patch.
I have:
WIN 7 Pro 64 bit
8 GB GSKill RAM
AMD Phenom II 3.4 BE
2 x 5830 Crossfire

I get this too. I'm getting lower frame rates also, so I give up with the beta patch. Hope the official patch is better.

Hi Stormcrow.
Go into Launcher.exe properties (right click on the file) and try disabling "enable desktop composition" or enabling it (the check marks). That should fix it for you, I think..

Go to Control options and to the Axis tab. There you can set the sensitivity, smoothing and translation curve for each axis.

I also have in offline mode the lack of gunfire sound (109, didnt yet test the Spit or the Hurri). Or let's say so faintly that it is almost inaudible. The canons are audible.
Bliss: I think on my desktop it is called Desktopgestaltung. I unchecked it. I hope it will work now. I'll report back after some trials.

People are talking about contrails at the wingtips......... I think tip vortices would be a bit more accurate to call them. Contrails are the condensations nuclei produced by engine exhaust at extremely low temperatures at high altitudes.

For some reason the spit now has a worn out appearance with bad paining even with the slider in the plane option fully left which should imho correspond to factory new aircraft.
Before new patch it was good.
