Tried to download the megapatch v10.1m from Mission4today. Apparently their step by step instructions weren't simple enough for a noob like me. Can anyone break it down a little more completely? I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium installing to a clean Steam v9.0m. Thank you all in advance.

Also should I download stab before or after 10.1.01 or does it matter?

Hi mach3matt,

first: do not install IL-2 1946 in the "Programs" (or whatever it is called on your sytem in its language) directory. Win7 does funny things in that directory, IL-2 cannot cope with. Install in "C:\Il2" or something similiar.

Having installed 1946, you're on version 4.07m. The "Il-2 Sturmovik: 1946"-CD contains version 4.07m and a patch to version 4.08.

So you'll have to (and exactly in this order):


make a backup of the installation, just copy the directory somewhere else
Execute patch 4.08 (in the CD) (make a backup)
Download and install patch 4.09b1m (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=10276) (make a backup)
Download and install patch 4.10m (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=17765) (make a backup)
Download and install patch 4.10.1m (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=18751) (make a backup)

I believe the megapatch v10.1m will allow an upgrade from any game version of Il2-1946, from 4.08m upwards, without having to go through individual patch installs.

When you run the megapatch it should ask you which directory to intall into. Point it to your IL2-1946 root directory of the 4.09m install (backup the install first). Everything else should be automatic. Don't know if the steam thing is mucking things up?

Thank you. I downloaded from Steam about a week ago. The version is def v4.09m.

I'm not sure what you mean by " point it to your IL-2-1946 directory " I haven't seen a prompt for this and I'm not sure how to do what your describing. Can you be more specific?

They mean choose your IL2 1946 game folder.
Do you know where you installed it to?

I believe its just installed to the desktop but this may just be a shortcut. How can I tell?
