Greetings :)

Please post any ISSUES with new graphics DLL`s here. Screenshots and NTRK files would be great too.

Thanks.

What exactly are the new dlls for? Are they the same that come with the 4.09 patch or just for those having problems?

OK about new DLL's, it seems that they do not work for some people, I tried re-install and stuff and it was a no-go until CSThor(thx again) saved the day :D

Anyway I saw quite a few people having this problem, but we didn't talked it through. What may be the cause? Well I see that mostly people with newer systems say the do not have any problems, maybe it requires some functions from new processor types(Like SSE3 for example)?
Anyway, here is my system:

Amd AthlonXP Mobile Barton @2.2GHz
Abit AN7 NF2(inegrated SoundStorm audio)
1GB(2x512) DDR Corsair memory
GeForce 6800 128MB 256-bit memory
WinXP SP2 with recent DirectX and Forceware(v169.09) updates

If there's anything I can test/try etc. I'll be glad to contribute :D

~S~ Ivan,
Check this thread please:http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=2463

The new .dll files do not solve this issue, and to my knowledge all 8800 cards running in perfect mode suffer "flashing textures" on aircraft 3D models.

New DLL`s have some further optimisation for latest nVidia cards.. along with increasing distance, which is described in the readme. I am a bit puzzled how they would work for some and not work for the others... and what CSThor is offering..

Don't have enough hours in-sim with 4.09 and the dll's to give you a thorough rundown. I like what I am seeing...and this is all subjective....crisper, clearer aircraft at a distance. Nice quality to the render. Will have more after this long weekend.

They work good for me with new maps, very little frame rate drop using new settings.

LandGeom=3

Now with the old maps I see more drop in frame rate.

I think there is some confusion here, the .dll's that keep people from loading the game are the snd_sse.dll or something like that, I beleive ivan is talking about the core.dll's which are completely different.

Well, it over wrote the "HQ foam pack", which is what I had before. The result is that all of the water is pitch black and flat on my ATI card.

So, while it may have optimised for Nvidia it killed perfect mode for ATI...

When I overwrite the old mg_snd_sse.dll with the one provided with 4.09 Beta the game will not start. It does not even get to the point of writing a logfile - tried that yesterday in cooperation with kuzma. The problem is always the same - regardless whether I use the original Il2fb.exe or the no-cd version.

Hi there.

I also have an Athlon CPU.
Athlon 64 3700+ to be exact.

What did you do to the .dll files to get them functioning properly btw?

Here is my experience thus far with what is most likely a lower end system now....

Intel P4 2.53Ghz 533fsb
Intel MB D845PESV
PNY PC2700 DDR 1Gb
MSI NX6600-VTD GEForce 256Mb AGP
Creative Audigy (1)
19" CRT at 1024x768x32
Win XP Home

Graphic settings at "Excellent" (unsure if patch altered during installation)
Patch & test copy of 1946 placed on a 15GB partially filled partition leaving only -500Mb free space.
IMPORTANT!!!.....My 1946 software is "mod free".

Installation went flawlessly from download at M4T, to unzip, to installation (taking all of 30 seconds both patches maps+skins).

Only testing performed online via HL in coops altered (switched out maps with existing missions).

1946 Manchuria map has always caused stutters...
New Slovakia map was smooth without a single pause or lag (will try and get some numbers as to FPS soon).

The view/general appearance of the landscape seemed much darker then most others
The briefing map, and pad map was a shocking change from our norm....Quite a bit too dark for my tastes yet usable (perhaps a glitch?...as rivers were royal blue like axis frontline markers, green of map a very dark shade).

New default skins worked, etc.....

Suggest some tests and I'll run them on my lower end system.

Four of us, my Athlon is mobile, but it's Barton core, same as desktop AthlonXP...
The new dll's probably use some newer CPU instructions which our old Athlons don't support. I had similar problem with Call Of Duty 4...

Not trying to be a broken record or shift the intent of the thread.......

However I think for the sake of getting the beta to the final version it is important that people "honestly" state whether they tried to patch over "modded" 1946 software or clean when they encountered any problem in the process. (regarding the swapping out of .dll's as well).

No mods here, clean installation.

And BTW, in my case, the guilty for not starting the game is the new "mg_snd_sse.dll" library. If I only use the new mg_snd.dll, leaving the other old one, the game starts OK.

Sound Mod User here (yes guilty:-)), i have an Athlon XP 3000+ and the game did not start with the new .dll's (mg_snd_sse.dll and the other one).

But the game makes no difference when the original files are in place (il2fb.exe and files.sfs and the others), i have a version switcher for every version since 4.01.

But to clarify, after installing the patch and it didn't work, i made a new clean install straight from the DVD and patched to 4.08 then 4.09. Even that gave me the same result as on my main installation. Only the dll's from CSThor let me start the game in the 4.09 version.

Ok, let me sum it up a bit...

Apparently there is no problems with core DLL`s...Except some texture flickering along the coast lines for some 8800 series owners, yes?

There are no issues with increased visibility while setting LandGeom=3...

There is an issue with sound dlls, that kinda not related to this topic, but i`ll make a note of it. The issue seems to be with early AMD XP series and some AMD 64s....

Did i get it right?

The blue "flickering textures" bug on aircraft 3D models is still an issue! Many 8800 owners report having this problem, no matter what driver is used, and no matter what settings are used. I really think all 8800 owners have it, but it manifests itself on a random basis, and some may not have noticed it, unless looking at an aircraft in external view. If you use an 8800 you frequently see the blue flashing textures on the wings and cowling.

FoolTrottel and I have posted numerous screen shots on the nVidia issues thread at ubi, and in here. Several screen shots that accurately show this problem are documented in this thread:http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63110913/m/1711062135/p/6

This is a very good image of the problem:http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/7420/artifact2rl2.jpg

Hmmm, i still have foam with water=2 and water is much better color too. ATI 1900XTX

This seems to be an issue only with mid generation ATI cards. There is someone with an ATI 9800 Pro on the Simhq forum that developed the same problem after the patch.

Until I installed the *.dlls from the "HQ foam pack" that was posted at UBI several years ago the water is pitch black and flat (think a "void with no stars"). When it is installed I can get the highest quality ATI type waves, complete with foam etc.

Its fully replicable and is ties to the various *.DLL files and popular, mid generation ATI cards.

Have no issues with new dll files concerning game performance except for the new water colour. The Pacific fine weather colour is now like blue custard and the Atlantic colour is a green version of the above custard.I use cs Thors dll files when I want to fly over water.I never really had the black water issue like some people with ATI cards. The water was darker than Nvidea users but not black.
I have also found that the new dll files have eliminated the "micro stutters"that I had before under 4.08.Overall an improvement for me.Lastly I have installed over a hacked sound version of the game.

There are no issues with increased visibility while setting LandGeom=3...

One possible issue (very minor) I stumbled on while using the increased view distance option: Torpedo wakes are visible from a very long range, something like 10km or so. Much longer than they should be visible.

I stumbled on this while playing a QMB mission on the Crimea map. There are two groups of vessels just off shore that have their own little battle, including the launching of lots of torpedoes. After I was finished with the air-to-air bit I was practicing, I flew over to the ships to watch the battle. I saw several wakes in the water long before I saw the ships. The wakes turned out to be from torpedoes.

Anyone with ATI card and 7.12 drivers run into the problem with the water=1, =2? Texture corruption and flickering? Seem to be an issue with ATI1800/1900 series. At least for me. Tested on 1800XTX and 1900XTX, same result.. water surface on the distance looks like a bunch of stripes.. one normally textured, one kinda shiny... Went back to previous set of drivers 7.8 and issue went away....

=RedChip=
01-04-2008, 06:03 PM
Yes, I had the same issues with a x1950GT AGP: striped textures and bad performance. In my case the 7.11s are the best option.

Just a question: Do you have a small texture corruption on the cockpit frame in Fw 190 cockpit, when you look to the right side in the lower right corner of the screen? Even with the 7.7 Catalyst I have this issue, no matter if it is in perfect mode or not, although it doesnt happen with DirectX, only in OpenGL.

Hmm, it seems that mg_snd_sse.dll is the one thats giving the issues. Was it CSThors's dll's that you used? Perhaps it only seems related, do you have any mods installed? Maybe try re doesnloading and reinstalling the patch, bad download?

Are these new .dll's different then those that came with the 4.09 Beta? If so, where can I get them? I've looked but haven't found a link.

The sim won't start with those in the 4.09 Beta. I know about using the .dlls from 4.08, but I thought if there were newer dll's I'd try those. Besides, if I start changing out .dll's, won't I be losing some of the 4.09 beta goodies?

I remember back quite awhile ago, when I was running an AMD system, we were advised to take the il2.core.dll and copy it to documents and rename it to il2.core4.dll and replace the core4.dll in your IL2 folder, I always did that on my AMD FX53 system and the game ran great. I remember faintly that the core4 dll had something to do with Intel systems. You can try this, I tried it on my system I'm using now which is an Intel system and did not notice any problems, of course I put it back to the original. Back up the original il2.core4.dll and try it. It can't hurt.

One of my squad mates mates cant even get his sim to run after patching. Im assuming the DLL's are the issue. He does not have a very high end computer either.

The only problem I seem to be having with these dll's (CsThorsas the stock 4.09Beta wouldn't let me start the sim.) is sound related. A problem I've never had up until 4.09. I'll be flying along and "intermittently" the sim will lock up. The sounds I hear during the lock up will be like this. It will “ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha---hang up. (If you get my drift) and then, if I haven't flown into the ground, the sim will start up again. This lasts anywhere from 1 to 4 seconds and once I had to reboot to get out of the sim. Other than this, FB runs great. Thanks 1c!

I'm having the same problems as Falke, who posted right before me.

At first I thought my video card was going, but when I play 4.08, I have no problems.

When I go into the FMB and work on my Slovakia missions (4.09), I get lock-ups. The first time or two the screen will freeze for a short time (less than 30 seconds). After that it usually freezes for good and I have to reboot.

I'm going to try some earlier dll's to see if it helps.

Ok, I have some test results.

I replaced the 'mg_snd_sse.dll' file from 4.09 with the one from 4.08. I then ran a long (over 2 1\2 hours) test session. Normally, I would have had some freezes and eventually a total lockup by then. However, I had no problems at all.

I'll continue to use the dll from 4.08 and see if IL-2 continues to run normally.

Make sure you desk top res and game res are the same when running the high end settings with the new dlls.

I had my desktop set to 1920x1200 24" LCD and my 2nd screen at 1600x1200 refresh rate at 80 " it a 21" CRT " When I didn't have both screens set to 1600x1200 at 60 refresh rate " max for the LCD " it would lock up and crash if I had to Alt Tab out.

This could also be a problem for other testing the 4.09.

After setting both to the 1600x1200 " same as i use in game " the problem went away.

As for the sound I'm using Vista 64 and and X-Fi Gamer with the latest drivers and they are working great. I love the new sounds.

I cannot confirm this. I run my desktop @1280x1024 and IL2 @1600x1200 and I switch between desktop and IL2 pretty often to answer ICQ. I got an nVidia 8800GTS, though.

Asus 7900GS with NGO 1.16.218 drivers and Core2 6300 CPU. Running at 1280x1024 with 4xAA and 16XAF

Had some weird issues with 4.09 dll’s.

-In one session above Pearl Harbor my FPS would plummet to very low when I was looking straight down above water (=3) in my cockpit or from the outside view . Ended the mission, closed the game, restarted the game and the mission again and the problem was gone.

-Have flickering of the dark openings of the hangars above Pearl.

-Cannot use 8xS AA because of strange spike like reflections in the water (=3)on the horizon.

I have had no problems with the new DLL's. It could just be for High end systems.

Vista 64 OS with SP1
Quad Core 6600 clocked to 3.0
4 gigs of 800 ram
8800 GTX 169.25 whql driver
X-Fi sound
24" LCD 1600x1200

...

60 FPS max all the time.

Hey,

I got a very similar system with even the same drivers. Using Thor's gfx dlls and 408's sound dlls though.

I couldn'T believe you get constantly 60fps with these settings so I set them to my conf.ini and nhancer just as you do. I tried the Slovakia map and no.. over cities I'm going down to 17..25 at times, especially from the pit or zooming out in the external view. Changing to 8xS SuperSampling AA I got low 20s as minimum flying the same route. As long as I stay away from the cities or don't look at a whole city it's +/-60..

Maybe I can upload a track of my flight so you can tell me yours? Not that I am wasting performance somewhere...

Found somethign odd though. changing to MultiSampling AA didn't bring much more fps, especially 4x and 8xQ actually left a slower impression and even went down to 12fps at times.

My System:

e6850 @ 2x3.0GHz (dual or quad core should make any differences in IL2 anyways)
4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM at LowLatency
ASUS PK5-E
MSI 8800GTX OC
169.25 whql
vista 32 up to date

Sooo .... is there any update or work around on this AMD issue ?

I do have 4.09b1m running fine using the old version of mg_snd_sse.dll (Sempron2400+, and as with everyone else running old Athlons - 4.09b falls over with the new dll) however it would be nice to try the new sound dll.

The new DLLs did get rid of some of the weird shadows shifting when running in SLI.

Too bad it doesn't fix the SLI "hearbeat" stutter that plagues this game.

Running 2 8800GTs 512s in SLI with 177.66s and its been a problem the last 20 revs of the drivers.

Still using the March dll's.

The problem I have running Sli with 2x8800GTS is that I get a flickering shadow on the water's surface when any boats are on it.

I also had a really bad pulsing like each frame was slightly darker and lighter, only minutely, but it looked like the whole scene was flickering.

So I turned the SLi option from render next frame to split render each screen, and that has now gone, totally fixed. However the shadows on the water look awful as they just flicker like they are interlaced on a TV...if that makes sense.

GF_Mastiff

I had that same problem with ATI drivers It went away when I turned the water to 2.

Golden_Eagle_FM
07-19-2008, 01:58 PM
I run a clean 4.09beta install with the patches and never had any of all the problems that have been mentioned since when these drivers were put online, except for:

1) Flickering shadows with SLI but this is not an issue any more as I went back to a non SLI solution.

2) Blinking polygons exactly as mentioned in this thread. It was only seldom (so not too much disturbing) and light blue flicker. I did not have white or other polygons flicker except on the fuselage and with shades of light blue.

But I have good news even excellent news. After very testing in the pacific theater with various airplanes and also with the track KI versus B24 I can confirm that with the Nvidia GeForce GTX280 board from Asus running drivers WHQL 177.41 there is no more flickering polygons at all. I can even say that the tvisual exture rendition quality on Hellcats for example are excellent. But it is true that I use very high settings.

Crazyivan now you "only" (maybe with some help from Nvidia) have to check what is the difference between these new drivers and other drivers for 8800 boards (before I had a 8800 ULTRA with drivers WHQL 175.19) and you probably may find the solution.

Ok sorry guys the download worked ok as most of our squad got them, should be ok now.

BTW these are the original files from 1c team.

I have put all 5 versions of the 4.09b1m dll's in one Rar file.

Make sure you back up your old dll's before replacing them with the new ones.

The file includes v1 v2 v3 v4 v5

You will need Win Rar to open the compressed file you will have to direct Winrar to open the file.

Download Win Rar 3.80 Graphic and comand line here > http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Download dll's here > http://depositfiles.com/files/8879191

Could you please upload them somewhere else? For about 4 days now the website has told me that all slots for my country are full. I doubt that there are that many people from the netherlands downloading them, they are just trying to get me to pay for a gold account. BTW all official links are dead, pretty amateur.

Hi Alpha,

It looks like your rar is misisng the latest DLLs. The latest is a set issued on March 13, 2008. It is buried on page 5 of the "New set of DLLs, from February 27th, 2008" thread.

The files can be found here, they are still available, posted by KYA.
