Been a long time IL-2 player. Probably the funnest (and best) combat flight sim/simulator series ever made. I have browsed through the forums regarding some information on 3D displays. It's a relatively new technology. But i believe is the wave of the future for flight sims. Just wish the makers would use IL-2 for demonstration.

Here's one from Immersive Display Inc.

Here's a prototype from FREX Japan,

Nice! But not all of us are bachelors so the bulk of this screen is a no no to most. I believe the future will belong to the miniature devices like http://www.primidi.com/2006/05/05.html#a1509

Once they get the resolution up to what we have today on our monitors it’s a go. Combine with something like Track IR and its as good as it can get.

True. I've seen those. VERY expensive. Many have been reported (not specifically this type) as giving the user headaches. Plus i.m.o. i don't think people would want to wear bulky goggles and glasses while playing a game. Would be hard to find my bottle of Guiness or slice of pizza while playin'. I just don't think "goggles" are the way to go for video games. Maybe for custom arcade arena's or certain interactive theatrical movies (which are coming soon).

The idea of a concave screen enveloping a nice comfy chair sounds more appealing. As long as the picture is crisp and sharp, the illusion will succeed. Sort of like your own personal IMAX screen.

For several years, now, Sony is supporting experiments on neuronal-interfaces...

It will be interesting to look ahead 10-20 years and see what we are using.People will look back at our 'hi-tech' stuff now and laugh.

Yeah. I remember when I got my first computer almost exactly 20 years ago. 64kb memory....
