I found about this gme today, with links to its homepage at http://us.royalquest.com/cpms/cpms_lp1

This game interest me, however Steam is a no-go for me; the reasons? several actually, but foremost is the fact that Steam NEVER asks you where you want to install, which is unacceptable to me.

It depends on the specific software or game you're referring to. Some software or games may be available for download or installation from sources other than Steam, while others may be exclusive to the Steam platform.

You could check if the game has its own standalone launcher or if it's available on other gaming platforms.

I think it's impossible because it's paid and you have wordle (https://wordlewordle.org/) to pay to own it, you can install a trial version and it only works for 7 days and then you have to buy the activation code so it can work again.
