il2 1946, by far. The history it represents and the way it represents this. Also, I wouldn't mind giving whirlwinds of Vietnam a try for the same reason.

Nice to see that you are interested in posting your favourite titles, it would be better, if you explain your choice, it will let people who didn't play your favourite gamec know about it and try it. So, waiting for your posts!

For me, it has to be the IL2 series, because...
When it first was released, the physics and graphics were really awesome.
The addons/updated content could all be placed together, making it one HUGE sim, where you can choose your favorite theater, planes, or even mix and match it all up, thus creating limitless scenarios.
This option, to me, is much better than having a lot of seperate installs for each different theater, and is the one thing that allowed IL2 to enjoy the long life that it has.
BTW, I don't know what all the other 1C games are, but I enjoy most simulations, and strategy games.Anything over WW2, and also a nice Vietnam flightsim would be great. Don't have Whirlwinds over Nam, yet. Looking forward keenly to PT Boats.

IL-2 1946.

when I was just a kid, there were two WWII flight sims that captivated me, Aces of the Pacific and Aces over Europe. after that, I stopped gaming for a number of years and didn't get my hands on a flight sim until 2003 when I bought the original IL-2. the flight modeling really impressed me and I've yet to play another flight sim that has satisfied my desire for flight as much as this has.

admittedly though, the only other 1C product I've tried is the Theatre of War demo, and while I did enjoy it, it runs quite poorly on my computer. :?

I would have to say Space Rangers 2. Because it is one of the most immersive games I've played in 20 years of gaming. I love the amount of freedom I get, and the fact that I play in a truly dynamic universe.

Basically, people who haven't played Space Rangers 2 are missing out on one of the best games ever released. Don't let the modest graphics fool you, this game is amazing.

Also, I'd like to mention Fantasy Wars, because it is a really intelligent turn-based strategy game, just like I like them. It reminds me of better times, when publishers weren't afraid of genres like this, and when we still had companies like SSI around.

Overall, 1C have released a lot of games that I really like. Star Wolves, IL2, King of the Road, even Ascension to the Throne. It is definitely a company I am going to watch closely in the future.

It is definitely not the only one :) Dawn of Magic was alse released, for example. The latest one has just appeared in Germany - that's Fantasy Wars, one of our top titles for 2007. It's in retail since Friday, October 26.

IL-2 for me!. No matter how much time you put into the game, you are going to keep discovering new things every single time. Not to mention that it's a fabulous combat simulator (in my opinion it's the best one) with an incredible amount of aircraft you can fly... then the diverse maps available, multiplayer for both co-cop and online dogfights...(looong etc) in short, a great game.

IL-2/1946:

I had never had the opportunity to get or play UBI or 1C games here in the US. Distribution maybe? I will say that I COULD NOT wait until 1946 came out in the states, so a nice Gent named Jason at Go-Gamer in the US got a supply from overseas when they came out. I see where mine was manufactured in Australia :)

I am a great flight simulator fan. Until I heard of IL-2, I was playing Micro$oft Combat Flight Simulator 2. I considered IL-2 head and shoulders above the MS product in both quantity and quality.

I consider it a great thing that after the Iron Curtain fell, imaginative people like Oleg where then free to pursue (and share) his love of aviation with us 8)

IL2:1946

I have always been a flight simmer having flown nearly all that have been released for example, Tomahawk on Sinclair spectrum 48k, F117 Stealth Fighter on Commodore 64, Gunship on Amiga, etc...

The reason i like this genre over other genre is the fact that each time you fly, you can discover things. you are not forced into a battle against time, you can take things at your own pace, you can now chat online and discuss tactics while you fly. Il2 has a Huge community. Il2 has fantastic mission building options, and the ability to load up your own custom plane skins, so you can literally recreate any fact or fiction mission you desire. That is what i love about Il2 series. The freedom to use your imagination, and have never the same experience each time you play it.

I have had so much fun with this sim online,
-i remember my new force feedback joystick destroyed my whole desk (it literally shook it apart!) when i was doing a wingless race along the ground with someone online. damn that was funny.
-I made a mission called the TB3 dogfight (a coop with 2 TB bombers full of online players shooting from the planes turrets, and other missions, Vodka, Tea Party, Schnapps etc.. all were successful and much played missions among my freinds.
-I once shot down an AI plane just as my online flight lead called for help as he was being attacked. the plane i shot down fell 2000 metres with one wing on and collided with the bandit on my buddies 6 !! amazing, lol
-I flew through the middle of the rear section of a P39, ripping my wings off, but my pit stayed in tact for me to bail, lol, crazy stuff indeed.

Well, there you go. Thats why i like it. So much fun and inventiveness can be had, and you dont get that with most other genres.

Well before I was a virtual pilot. I was an avid WWII RTS player; Soldiers HoWWII 1c, Blitzkrieg (Nival), Theatre of War 1c,

Now IL2 of course because you have a little of everything in it. It has a very large learning curve I have an infinity for learning, has taught me allot more about WWII and the involvement of other countries and there contribution to the cause Allies versus Axis, and the many inventions that came of it.
Bombing runs, Fighter escorts, Ground pounding front line support its a very robust game and has allot to offer as far as training and war tactics used for history practicalities.
And most of all It has brought the world together with thousands of virtual pilots together and old WWII pilots playing this on line and communicating over the net with each other on wide subject of WWII.

One thing I wish to see in the future is Theatre of War and IL2 melded together for some real on line Mass Multi-player mayhem.

Imagine your on comes with your buddy who is in a tank advancing on the enemy and he calls up to you caped over the objective and asked you to ground pound the enemy position in front of him.

thanks 1c for some very great WWII games... :D 8)
Now that would be a virtual war....

IL2 '46.

I love flight sims, and realistic experiences. That's what pulled me into IL2 Sturmovik when it was released and kept me with it. However, each successive release has been BETTER than the last.

Forgotten Battles was such a cool idea, delving deeper into the little known aspects of hte air war of WWII (of course, more planes and maps for it would have been nice, but aren't they always? :D lol).

Pacific Fighters was a dream come true. PTO and carrier ops rock. I was so happy to see Oleg/1C cover that theater. Of course, much of that was let down when the Hellcat was hosed and the UFO-rsair got a boost from the fanboi's who don't like real planes that did the real work (mirrored in the ETO by the P-47/P-51 relationship)..... but I digress.

IL2 '46 formed a hat trick of smash hit sequels. It once again pushed the envelope of WWII sims by doing stuff that hasn't been done (or rarely and poorly done) before. The concept of the title rocks, and all the wierd cool planes (and awesome add on maps) are just awesome. I would have payed all the money I spent on all the titles combined just for the '46 content alone. Many in the forums love to piss and moan and whine about it. But many of us are very grateful for those wild exotic planes (the more exotic the better, it truly does not matter if they ever flew as prototypes or saw battle, in fact, if they didn't that's even better still as it pushes the envelope even further).

There have been some downs to go with the ups, and some stuff I would liked to have seen included to flesh out the various theaters better, but all in all, the conent, quality, and above all customer/community support has been bar none simply the best, probably in the history of PC games.

Even though Storm of War: Battle of Brittain is more of the same old same old that's been done a bazillion times before, I still look forward to it's release and all the advances it promises to bring with it. But mostly because it will be the framework and foundation for pushing back into those neglected theaters, planes, and concepts (what-if scenarios, the Finn War, CBI, PTO, etc).

Il2 series for me as well, for the numerous reasons mentionned above.

But I glanced over the other games here, and I must say that the XIIIth Century thing interest me a lot, assuming that it's to be a simulation rather than a game. And I think that this is the point : simulations seem to have become a specific russian niche, and hopefully you would develop them to an unequalled level, as technology constantly evolves.

A suggestion : take into account that all gamers aren't young people anymore. As time goes, mature gamers are increasingly invading the market. They want historical accuracy, realism and difficulty (what Oleg did understand very well, and just consider how many people here are anxiously awaiting for the Sow series).

As for me, I'd really love playing any historical (Medieval, Roman, Napoleonian or whatever) simulation if it's done with the same level of quality than the upcoming SoW : Bob. You should be on the top if you can make people learn something while playing your games. Quality speaks for itself.

Cheers,

Well I never played other 1C game besides Death to Spies so that is really my 1C favourite game.

For everybody that knows the style of Hitman (its actually hard to define the game without referring to hitman series), it's like hitman series - I mean its a stealth based game but not limited to stealth. Killing enemies is sometimes the only way to end the mission.

So its like Hitman but with a reality touch, the WW2. Or even Hitman and at the same time Commandos.

Great game, always loved stealth games like Thief, Splinter Cell, Hitman, and Death to Spies really has earned its place in my game collection bests.

Its Fantasy wars i just love how this game is based on combat and leveling your troops and heroes.I've played many turn based games and this one just amazed me so much combat oriented game there is no town building or anything but perks for each unit and heroes, terrain advantages and disadvantages, spells...
battles are also nicely done i thought it would be something like in HoMM but this is very nice, the way cavalry are charging and trample, enemies killed by your heroes it looks awesome.
Graphics are really nice and still it can work great on mediocore machines.I like idea with scouts here they are very useful.3 campaigns with a great story
and the way the are brought together at the end its just great!

i recommend this to anyone who likes games of this type.

Its a shame that those two games arent in english, but still I wont stop playing them.

I'm a big fan of Action Forms, so Cryostasis is guaranteed to be a new favourite of mine once it's released. Love Chasm the Rift and Vivisector Beast Within (although I'm not sure they released these in cooperation with 1C, can't remember everything all the time). Their games usually have a lot of humour (unintentional or otherwise, it's all good) and nice ideas in enemy design/weapons/levels. Simply put, they're a blast to play.

Last year though my favourite 1C game was Death to Spies. Excellent take on the hitman/splinter cell style game, and oh so much more hardcore than those. It's almost Commandos series level in its difficulty. Love it.

Really interested in a ton of other 1C games after browsing the russian games site regularly for a few months. Too bad the games aren't seeing european releases quicker. The Utopia City people's new game seemed interesting, forgot what it was called right now. The UAZ 4x4 games seem really interesting.

..IL-2 is huge aswell of course. They're awesome games, but have been covered so extensively in this thread already it's almost a pointless mention.

I'd say 7.62 and 7.62, and also 7.62
oh, and did I mention 7.62 ?
Right now the game's a bugs nest, it's also a pain to play it since it's a russian version, but being a tactical fan (Jagged-Alliance, X-Com/UFO, Silent Storm, Shadow Company and so on), I'm really having a kick with 7.62 no matter what :)
Can't wait for the english version, can't wait for Reloaded, can't wait for any other other add-on that could eventually come :)
Oh, and can't wait for fixes too hehe.

Well... I must say that I totally agree with Nightprowler, both being part of the great fan community for Brigade E5 and 7.62mm. I have even started to help the team translate the game to English because I am too impatient for the English release this summer!

Now as for reasons..

We'll start with Brigade E5;
A few years ago, after finishing Jagged Alliance 2 a few times.. and playing mods and all, I was really hoping for something new, something fresh. But the video game industry had nothing like it apart from Silent storm and a few others, but they weren't as 3D as I wished, or didn't have the freeness I wanted and ESPECIALLY didn't have enough different realistic guns! I am not a great fan of RTS, but I am the greatest fan to Tactical Turn-Based Games. Brigade E5 brought all of that into 1 package! And they even topped it off with a new smart-pause system which is the most brilliant system there is! It's like a mix of real-time, but you can hit the space bar to pause the game, to give your mercenaries commands. A good example of this would be Baldur's Gate series, the pause sytem works pretty much the same way.

Being a gun nut, brigade E5 brought full of nice surprises, about 100 realistically rendered real-world weapons, like MP5's, UZI's, a whole line of HK G3's, another whole line of HK G36's, FN FAL's, HK MSG90, and those are just a few out of a 100 you would ALL want to try out, + being able to add bipods, scopes, lasers, silencers... ! So for anyone who likes realistic representation of guns, this game will beat pretty much any game out there... being a gun nut, trust me, I've tried everything else!

The game is the opposite of linear! You have three factions, the rebels, the national army and some gangster/smugglers [no, not 50 cent type gangsters... REAL drug and weapon dealers!]. You could try and work out missions for all three factions.. or you can do missions for only one faction... you do what you want... it has the freeness of GTA... but you got a whole country to visit! Do not get me wrong, this is in no way anything like GTA gameplay-wise. It is a TACTICAL game, we're you've got some choices to make, battles can be won many ways, you choose... you want to take your time and surround the enemy? You want to mow them down with a machine gunner? you want to stay in the distance and snipe them?.. or maybe like me you like a middle ground.. Something like carrying a HK G36, with a silencer attached, a laser pointer and the integrated scope... and a Grenade launcher to top it off... But this game is not a one man army game! You can easily die with one shot or two! So you gotta hire some mercenaries you can find around the country in bars. They all have different stats, some will join, some no, they all cost different prices... Go get them equipped at the nearest gun dealer shop in one of the many cities! Secretly assassinate the president's son with a Remington 700 Rifle! Work for the rebellion and attempt to bring the smugglers on your side of the war, or work for the Government and also work for smugglers... the choice really is all yours!

7.62mm brings all this back, with many new weapons... a new country, a new graphics engine with destructible environment {throw a grenade and watch the car blow up.. shoot through a wooden fence and watch it crumble to pieces...and it won't disappear, the pieces stay on the ground! ... Grass that moves when you walk in it! Day night variations as in real life.}. This sequel to Brigade E5 is even much more advanced in choices you have, there is much more freeness in the way you can accomplish missions, or you might even decide to switch sides DURING a mission, by initiating a dialog with your target and letting him entice you.. but again, YOU choose! In both game you can own different types of vehicles to store weapons you pick up to sell to weapon dealers.. and help you get places quicker. Really, Everyone here should try Brigade E5 to start, do not judge the games on the graphics that are somewhat too old.. at first it will feel a little... weird, but just keep playing, visit different towns, get different missions and you will see, you will fall in love!

Everyone here has convinced me of trying IL-2.. which I am downloading the demo right now. I had tried it when it first came out, but had such a slow pc.. I guess now that will have changed..

I am also interested in trying the game Death to spies.. being bit of a Hitman fan.

I haven't tried many 1C games as it's somewhat no much heard about here in Canada.. but I applaud your nice efforts for bringing quality games to the gaming industry! Keep up the good works guys!

I'm too much into realistic guns.. Although I've made an exception for Fallout series. Is UFO: [which one is the newest I should try?] like turn-based tactical also? or real-time? I remember trying the old one, free download from abandonia software, but no manual came with it.. and last time I used dos was before windows 95.. so no way to figure the different keys and what they did...

Hello Everyone!

I'm new here (actually this is my first post) and I thought this would be the best place for me to kind of sign in & say hi and other things. Right off the bat I have to admit the whole reason I'm here (as in how i knew about this website and forums) is because I recently picked up Brigade E5. To be honest I didn't know (and still do not have a complete list of games made yet but I am working on that. Sadly as it is I have a very slow internet connection (typical dial up in the U.S.A. is about 42-52kbps, due to some bad wiring not repaired yet i connect at between 12.2 and 21.0kbps until they fix the issues) so it takes some time. So my favorite hands down is Brigade E5 as of yet, I've known about IL2 for some years and while i'm a dedicated virtual pilot I've not actually had the chance yet to play it yet. I noticed in one post someone listed Fallout, I can't even begin to think of all the hours of time i've spent on both of those games. My actual list would go something like this

Brigade E5
Fallout
Fallout 2

Now getting to the reasons why I like my number one pick. Well actually Godspeed nailed it almost perfectly for me, with one exception and that is that I am an gunsmith and the sheer detail put into the items and weapon systems in the game is nothing less than impressive, when I can look at the information and details box on an actual box of ammo in a game and it have an accurate and time proper box image and label ...well its one of those things that quickly builds respect for a game. Now please understand i am not saying that by these details is the perfect end all be all game heh fact of the matter is i've yet to make it past the second phase of the campaign (made it to the first town got the guy there safely I just can't get much further for various reasons) but it does lend a great amount of credit to the people behind the game and makes for game play thats well worth trying to figure out

Well I guess this turned into a big combo message of a first post and favorite game but hopefully it'll work. Its a pleasure to have found this site and this company

Il-2, a lot of people I talk to a really impressed by the quality. Oleg's management style and development values are also exceptional and he has done a lot to popularize history of the Great Patriotic War in "western countries".

After reading two posts coming from germany, i have to add:

Ascession to the Throne

i remember the time i found it,
it was one of those days, standing in front of video games, and simply cant find anything good to find, only boring games coming out that time,
so i checked the "cheap" game section,
and behind some "gold editions" i found that game, not knowing what i could expect from it, i just bought it.. i just had that feeling.

after getting home i tried it out as soon as possible,
and my reaction was like "wtf".
because after going for my first mission to get a sword, i just couldn't win any fight at all,
so i had to calm down for 2 days and give it another shot,

and finaly, after trying out all kind of tactics i could win a mission, and from that day on, i never ever lost a fight in that game again.

the graphic is not that great for our time, but it does the job of bringing atmosphere, just one of these games you totaly fall into, and actually live in that game (but just for time playing, not like WoW junkies)

well what to say more about this game to make you all run out and buy it instantly.

if you are an RPG fan like me, you will probably fall in love with it instantly,
it is right between the good old japanese rpg's, and the western ones (like gothic)
but still provides tactical elements like in "advance wars".

the story also is great, and actually targets at your emotions.
(i was really angry at that bad wizard guy, and i hated that first lord, but at the same time i felt somehow connected to the guys on your side)

and every time the main hero talks he just says excactly what i would say, so there was no problems for me that there were no dialog options.

final notes:
go and buy it quick! if you buy enough copies of that game there may be some chance of a second part.
which i instantly would buy, even if the price would go up to 60 bucks.
the end of the game provides enough material for a second part,
in fact, no one really understands the ending video i think,
its like an open end and every one can think of an end for himself
(even if that wasn't planned)
i'll be waiting and checking every week for news
(like i did the last year or two..)

A.I.M 2 Clan Wars???
Star Wolves 1 & 2???

I guess Nobody likes it:confused:

it's a good game y'know!
for A.I.M 2 clan wars :
the the games featuring capturing a building or two and upgrade your weapon or glider!
if you ask me i think it's really creative!!
it's like an action RPG but the level or rating didn't affect your glider at all!
I guess!

Cuban Missile Crisis and Ice Crusade...although the problems of units not speaking in the language of their nation of origin can be fixed(us-uk alliance and franco-german alliance). For example, the US-UK M-24 Chaffee does not speak in an American accent despite having US markings.

:cool:This is a very indepth game in that proximity and line of sight are key .You can't afford to waist any unit .The models are also excellent.I have been to a property of a man who has a Centurian tank ,all 55 tonnes .A level editor and skirmish mode would be good .I like the game because of the ammo and fuel replenishment nescesity . The only thing I am not favourable with are the large aicraft and fighters . They could be rendered as shadows . The radiation aspect is also very good . I am looking forward to networking this game and playing against a friend.

I have to say, that 1C is getting better and better ! I´m a fan of good old fashioned round based games, so there´s no doubt about it:

Best games from 1C:

- Fantasy Wars
- Elven Legacy
- King´s Bounty

Especially King´s Bounty is so lovely and tactical deep, you can spend hours and hours with it, experimenting different strategies. Great one !

I like a few 1C games. They have some olde school games, and they are the ones I like.

My favourite overall is the Konung series though. Just something about it. It's not just my favourite 1C game series, but also some of my favourite games of all.

1C Company (Russian: Фирма "1С") is one of the largest independent Russian software developers and publishers. Its headquarters are in Moscow, Russia. It is best known outside of the former Soviet Union as a video game developer whose presence has come to dominate events like the KRI, and whose products have begun to show up for international platforms like the Xbox.[1] In the internal Russian market 1C is considered a leader in business software as well, however of the 13 tons of software they have been reported as shipping daily, 98% of it is game software.[1] 1C's comprehensive business software suite 1C:Предприятие (1C:Predpriyatiye, 1C:Enterprise) has held an overwhelming market share for over a decade. 1C is also a leader in localizing and publishing Russian-language versions of international software. For instance, more than half of popular Western video games are licensed and published by 1C. The company has over 700 employees, 10,000 business partners, 4,500 authorized retailers, 1,200 training centers, 200 authorized certification locations and over 280 stores in 100 cities.[2]

So many games. I'm really bad at these things. Always there are: Super Metroid, Majora's Mask. Add Xenoblade to that and you have a likely top 3. After that it gets really tricky.I really REALLY need to develop my own list in that area. Just simply look at my library of games, and choose...

It's quite difficult, but I'm trying my best. I think the only way I can truly develop a top 5 is if I obsessively evaluated every one of my top tier games to the point where I do see more from one game than the other. So, instead, I am simply going to list my top tiers.

I think I'd have to go with Space Rangers 2. It's satisfying in so many ways; the amusing text adventures, the RTS battles, the beautiful space scenes/backgrounds; it's one of the few games I've ever had the urge to replay (I beat it on normal several years ago, and am now trying it on Hard. Quite a challenge!)

In a close second place is King's Bounty. An awesome interpretation of the Heroes of Might and Magic formula. Quite funny at times and some interesting monsters (love the thorns!)
