I am in a bit of a tight at the moment...

My rudder pedals just bit the dust a few days ago... They were my wonderful Thrustmater brand pedals... They have lasted me almost 10 years!!! Unfortunately, Thrustmaster no longer makes rudder pedals.

I need a few suggestions for some good pedals now... and no.... I am not going to spend $500 on PFC's (Precision Flight Control's) pedals... though they ARE quite good!!!

I have a Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS set up... so they need to be able to work with it.

No I have already "sampled" CH rudder pedals and Saiteks... that some friends of mine have... I wasn't to thrilled with either one... they both are pretty close or ove $100 and are entirely made of plastic... and all the internals are plastic parts too from what i could tell... I don't wish to buy another set in a year or two... especially at $100 a pop!!!

Unfortunately, these are the only ones that I know of that are currently being made for PC sims... unless you get into commercial version accessories!!!

HEEEEELP!!!!

I have the simped pedals and love them. They are made of very strong plastic and are very durable.

Although an old review, it is still valid:

You can buy them directly from the man who produces them:

what exactly went wrong with your thrustmaster pedals? I was able to rebuild mine when the pot started spiking by visiting the site below. The kit is excellent and the movement precise.

They just are totally wore out... I would have to pretty much replace every internal and moving part. They have served me long and well, and endured several moves over the years... it's time for a new set.

Thanks for the links, Tbag

A question:

When looking into these pedals in the past, I've seen where there are issues either getting in contact with the builder or getting your Simpeds delivered in a timely manner (if at all!).

Any idea if these issues have been resolved?

In that case, Pit...I have found the RCS on ebay from time to time...just search for Thrustmaster...I picked up an extra set just in case I have the same fate as you...

I bought mine 10 month ago and they shipped in two weeks time to the UK. I also called them because I had to change my delivery address during these two weeks and it wasn't aproblem at all, friendly and good service. Ask by email in advance how long the delivery will take, they can usually tell.

Does anyone know what the dimensions of the Simped are? More specifically I'm curious what the distance is between the foot pedals on the USB brake model.

The beauty of the Cougar is that any Analog joystick can be sacrificed and turned into a set of pedals. Just gotta be a little handy at fabrication (you could even do it out of wood - it doesn't have to look pretty).

I have a Mk II Thrustmaster RCS and it's entirely plastic with a couple of springs and a pot. Nothing to wear out. Any slop could be shimmed out, or pieces could be canibalized into a new hand fabbed RCS, even using a different pot and/or hall sensor.

Really no need to go buying anything new, least of all USB.

Unless of course you only play games that accept multiple controllers, in which case you could use the 4 free axes available to the cougar to rig up some trim control or anything else you like.
