As a very usefull step you already added a 150octan fuel, 25lb/sq.in (80’’ Hg in USAAF terms) manifold pressure Mustang III (the P-51C looks with its RAF default skin, on non PTO maps, already like a Mustang III, just that it has 67’’Hg manifold pressure) to the game. I just have to add that the ingame Mustang III is showing 70’’ Hg on it’s gauges.

To have a similar “boosted” P-51D in game would be also very usefull..........
To use it in missions (COOP and Dogfight) to fight the highpower Ki-84s, Fw190Ds and Bf109Ks. And also it would reduce the “whine” about the Mustang in general, i guess  .

The USAAF used “boosted” P-51Ds after 150octan fuel was available at least in Europe with a max manifold pressure of 72’’ Hg (combat reports are even talking about 75’’ Hg as maximum) and the Iwo Jima based Mustangs used even 80’’ Hg.

Scroll down the following page to read about the use of 150octan fuel in the P-51:
http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/mustang/mustangtest.html

now this would be my suggestion:
with the next patch/update/AdOn (if one will appear  ), “boost” the performance of the ingame P-51D-20NA (the one with the K-14 sight) to a 150octan fuel Mustang. The easiest way i belive would be to “copy” the ingame Mustang III datas. This would mean no new plane would be added..........
The game would have a P-51D-5NT with the power of game version 4.08 (at 67’’ Hg i guess) and than a P-51D-20NA with the power of 80’’ Hg ( as in the Mustang III than 70’’ Hg showing on its gauges......................).

If you don’t like to upgrade the FM of an already existing plane you still can add a “boosted” bubbletop Mustang as P-51D-25NA or as Mustang IV.

I think the most cummunity members and players would welcome such a Mustang 8) .

Thx for consideration

More octane doesn't mean necessary more power..

well, but the 150 octan fuel enabled the technicans to increase the Merlin's manifold pressure from 67'' Hg to 72'' + .......................................

sure, only fill the other fuel in the tank does not help, "some" engine modifications are needed.

I like that idea... I wont ask about the rockets for the 51s...

asking for something that would require any 3D work is even more senseless i guess..................................

More octane doesn't mean necessary more power..But at least it smells better.
asking for something that would require any 3D work is even more senseless i guess.......................................3D work is not really probable thing to happen now, nut eventually who knows?

When it becomes open source (read after last patch comes out and game becomes haxored) there will be many things out.........................

And perhaps some of those haxors offer new 3D model work?

Who knows.

I agree with the boost. This would take care of 95% of all the whines about the bird in my opinion. So if possible please incorporate.

Why would it? Its already very fast and climbs well. Most complaints about the Mustang have nothing to do with speed.

I have seen some threads at UBI and on a couple of other boards stating the Americans didn't use 100/150PN fuel.

Because most do not use it correctly and IMHO it bleeds energy to fast. With the extra boost, it will have more speed when manuevers are made making plane shine at the higher speeds like it is supposed to. To me this would be the easist way to fix most of the problems that are claimed about it with diving into the code to much.

I don't know what to say, gents, it's been around for quite a while, see? (even though this is a Mustang Mk. III)

Honestly, we've already got a pretty good 51 that handles really well and can kill with the best of 'em, what's not to like?
