oy! Guys! Wrong thread!
Evgeny was asking what particular thing in the game made us happy that we bought it
Really hard question, let me finish the whole game first, then I'll post my opinion :)

I will say that the wounds concept is a very good idea and very well integrated in the gameplay mechanism. I'm not fantasy general veteran, so I don't know if this feature was copied or if this is a new genialism idea, but anyway...well done guys!

Sadly, last battle ended on silver, no spoilers here but it was FUN. Great time, great challenge, lots of brainstorm. It's really impossible to me to pick one feature and say "hey, this one's best!". So much stuff is great, voices, story, units, graphics...
Ok, because some people might think that graphics in Fantasy Wars is not that great, I'll give You a screenshot (very soft spoiler, one can see that it's a human campaign and some knights are to be defeated, nothing else) - http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc36/Guardian_PL/s_Oct-13_12-21-01.jpg
Now, all enemies there are the same type of cavalry, on roughly same level of experience. But each unit look different, helmet, shield, lances - it all varies 8) 8) (Bers, is that Your doing? :)) And that's what helps me to take this game as a story, like Disciples (or Ascension To The Throne, yet another good game from 1C ), where main hero has a team of companions and together they are saving the world. Great finishing touch, thanks!
Story is great too, I'm waiting for sequel and I can't wait for map editor, new units (like separate, fully developed elves, dwarves, demons, undead), and pretty, pretty pretty please give us random map generator and skirmish. With random map there will be always treasures to collect from ruins and towers, random terrain and random foes. Maybe even some quests too? On a large, laaaarge map. Larger than currently available
Thank You 1C, good job!
P.S. Also, main menu screen looks different, depending on which campaign was played last (human, orcs or alliance). The Elven main menu srceen ROCKS! :o :D
P.P.S. Obviously, game was passed on Hard level 8)

I've only played the Demo, but from what I have played it's awesome! I have to say my favorite feature is, as above, every unit changes based on what you do. It makes the units feel so much more unique.

the thing that really suprised me and my favorite feature are skirmishers this is only strategy game where i have found them much much useful and it is great how careful u must be to make them do their part of the battle nice.
I never played fantasy general and i don't know how useful they were in that game since this is a remake of it.

Really, so many to choose from. Great game by the way. I love the fully 3D environment, the Perk Tree, the terrain + and -. I really like the ease of playing. It really is a beer and pretzles game, but so was the Panzer General series. Look how long that has lasted. There are still web communities running ladders for the old PZ 2 game.
After playing about 12 more hours, restart once and replayed one map one time I can say the coolest feature of the game are the Perks. I really like the passive perks. For the useable perks I find that I don't use them as often as I would like to. Mainly, because I'm either resting or attacking; but, it seems that some last a few turns if they're not used and that is really cool.
Things I Like:
1. The 3D graphics and combat animations are great
2. The roar the Orc Boss makes when he destroys a unit
3. The ability to specialize units through the use of Perks
4. The ability to upgrade units in the army management window. I like the fact you can upgrade to several different levels. If you don’t have enough money for the best upgrade, you can pick a lesser one until next battle.
5. The AI is very good at concentrating on a unit until it is destroyed (my poor Boar Riders).
6. The Orc campaign is very well structured forcing you to do a good job early on or you will not have the forces it takes to win later in the game.
7. The verity of units, spells, artifacts, and terrain.
8. True 3D terrain that has a real impact on tactics. I just fought a game as the Orcs where the Humans were kicking my butt on the plains. I had to retreat to the woods and was able to rally and hold off the onslaught for a long time. I still lost the battle but what a great last stand.
9. The sub plot with the Orc Hexer. (Just got it, not resolved yet.)
10. The use of special items (artifacts)
Things I don’t like:
1. It appears impossible to ever complete a mission and get the gold award. I’m not sure you could do it even if all you had to do was move to the objective hexes, let alone fight your way in.
2. The Home page for this game does not have a link to this forum
Recommendations:
1. Randomize the special items so they are different each time a battle is started.
Wish list for sequel:
1. A Dwarf campaign and army
2. An Undead campaign and army
3. Larger battles
4. More of everything!

I really liked the feature of slowly upgraded units throughout the campagne. So I was sort of irritated when I played my favorite race (the elves) and noticed you cant upgrade them. Furthermore the campagne was rather short, since you played humans and orcs in between and the campagne was one mission shorter anyway. It sort of felt unfinished, honestly.
So I would love to have the third race fully worked out with a fully fleshed out campagne like the orks and humans. These I liked very much and I anticipated the third one, with my favorite race the elf, but it was a bit let down once I realized it was shorter and I had to play the others races rather than focus on the elves (and dwarves, of course).

Well if you like elves, you wouldn't be disappointed with the upcoming sequel.

i find it interesting that both an expansion & a sequel are being worked on at the same time (not that i am complaining!).
Love the game but here a few items that stand out;
The Good
Upgrades/Perks
Wounded
Magic system
The Bad
Cannot continue mission once quests are done
The Wish List
Map Editor
User Custom Content
More On-Line play options
More of everything

I like the hexagonal map with TBS combat best because I'm utterly sick of RTS shooters. The geographically-based penalties and bonuses and the perks that modify them are next best, and the full campaign strategy where units are upgraded to elite and losses of attrition affect the final, toughest missions is brillant.
I look forward to the sequel, the random generator and the community mods. Best game I've played since Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic.
