Well, according to the topic about the features you'd like to be implemented, I colected the most popular wishes of yours and made a poll. So, vote for the feature you'd like to be implemented!

Thanks Evgeny for this discussion. I voted for more interaction with game developers because-
1.) we never had that on the UBI site, and
2.) the specific issues can be discussed in more detail and would be more valuable

I voted for better briefing/debriefing screens although I must say the "better AI" was very tempting, too. However I realize the difficulty of programming a believable and "human" AI - if that was easy Maddox Games wouldn't be programming games

Concerning the briefing/debriefing issue I have a "vision" or a "dream":

Right now the briefing/debriefing screen is combining text and map. In my opinion there's too little space for either, so the map display is not optimal and there's too little space for the text briefing (and the font is way too large, too).
What I'd like to see is a main screen for briefing from where you can open "popup" screens with the map (containing flight path, waypoints, comments etc which you can edit if you have the rank etc), another with the full briefing text (best would be to use a typewriter font just for the looks of it) and another one with recon pictures, newest intel etc ... This way there's always enough space for each part of the briefing/debriefing and no information can get lost due to bad screen layout.

I chose better briefing/debriefing as well.

Incase you include any historical missions in SOW it would be nice to know the real outcome of said mission and in that way be able to compare results so to say.

other then that, Thor summed it up pretty well.

I voted for improved AI,
my personal chart-topper would still be ability to switch control of aircraft, though! :D

Ugh! Sorry, bigbossmalone, but that "feature" is so arcadishly gamey, that I'd rather keep it as far from SoW as possible. Unless, of course, it can be switched off in the difficulty menu, that is. :)

Totally with you there, csThor!
I realise it might possibly detract from the whole 'sim' feel, and in practise, I might not even like it myself.
In my original post on this subject, you will see that I also mentioned making it an option - that can be ON/OFF.
I'd like to at least have the option, though...or maybe limited to planes in my flight/squadron.

I voted for AI.

Because it's the only thing I can complained about.

My second option would be the game developers option. I think it could really improve the game over time.

New planes would also be teh fun. But, not on top priority when compared to the others.

Really... Actually for me it would be all the above.. but the AI for me is the biggest... This sim has already taken the whole genre to the next level anyway...

Ai for me. I'm a offliner most of the time.

Clearly AI because I'm an offliner too. Immersive Campaign would be my second choice.

For the improved briefing screen I can help out with an original German weather forecast sheet of the former Luftwaffe:

Interesting.

I always thought the way European Airwar would bump AI pilots for human ones in co-ops a very good implementation of this, and it certainly made for a lot of fun.

Aces High came up with a good system whereby buff pilots control a flight of three bombers: thier own and two AI wingmates. It's not perfect but it goes along way to help buffs make a reasonable formation.

Both these kind of ideas can extend the way we make use of the game.

AI for me as well.

I think that in light of some of the things that have been complained about the most, AI issues are at the root of a lot of it.

Bomber gunners
Perfect engine management
Blackout/redout behavior
Pushing/Pulling behavior

All are tied to the AI.

Oh yeah I forgot some stuff... exhaust glow for night ops! and definitely more realistic engine management.

A nice feature for briefing/debriefing screen that I miss from old CFS2 would be the option to implement reecon photos. An extra page with jpegs attached to the briefing that show the target area and the position of known flak sites and other important stuff.

I do miss the mission planner from Falcon 4.0+ as well as it's resource management.

You may not be able to change the time on target or the time you have to meet the bombers that you are escorting.
But you should be able to change when you takeoff, the route you take, the altitude and speed that you use to get there.

Not something that a low ranking pilot would do but as mission leader or Co of the squadron something that one would be able to influence

More interaction with developers.

Being a program developer myself, I can tell that formal program specifications always tend to take a second place in favor of direct customer feedback which actually decides the outcome.

I am sure that by having a direct contact channel with developers we could achieve all of the other goals listed in this poll.

The only question which remains open is in which language it shoud be?

Cheers

I voted for more airplanes. Yeah I know there is a fat chance for that, but I had a hard time choosing between Improved AI and new airplanes.

Since I'm working a profile of this airplane. I truly wish we had this in game so I can skins this using the details I have created here. This shot is 85% reduction of the full size. I wish we had this! :D

Improve AI please, like

1. The AI can be suprised attack from the 6 oclock, and not take any defensive action if suprised, only after seeing bullets go pass the AI plane.

2. AI should not be able to see through the clouds

3. Also please make AI friendly airplanes go slower when in offline campaign missions - very hard to keep up with them and by the time I catch up engine is too hot.

Otherwise the AI is very good.

Thanks
Shelton.

Otherwise the AI is very good.

I disagree. They can do maneuvers that no human can do...e.g. take a Zero into a dive with speeds way beyond the structural limit. Just try it...get into a P38 at high altitude, get a Zero on your tail, make a dive and watch how far he can follow you and what speed he reaches. I predict that you'll be surprised.

I would like to see hand gestures implemented :)

up, down, left etc. and one, two, three fingers etc to indicated number of enemies.

This should be really cool when making movies.

Also, on high res screens definately a realistic alternative to TS :D

I voted for brief/debrief. The current briefing GUI is very ... spartan and... GUI-like. It does not add to immersion.

What I would like is that briefing would actually look like briefing handed out to a pilot in 1940... the same information they received etc. Aerial photos of target for the LW bomb crews, with the targets marked with white circles and short label on them ('AAA guns', 'parked aircraft')... things like that.

Detailed, even if semi-fake information who would fly the BF219 serial no Spitfire, or who will get again the old, battered WNr. 1039 (yeah, it`s you again). Picture of the hanger in the background with mechanics preperaing your plane, filling it with fuel, ammo, as you are briefed. In the background, the radio plays jazz, sometimes broken by Air raid warnings broadcasted, or some Nazi Big Boss making a speech.

Extra historical information like : 'Yesterday Tommy hit Berlin, so now KG 100 will hit East-London, targets being.... We will randevous with I/KG 100 over the Channel, and make sure they are safe. Watch your fuel levels ! And try to do it better than last time, half of 2./KG 100 was fished out of the Channel when you guys fell asleep.'

Things like that. Not just 'Fly to waypoint A. Destroy all tanks. Return'. Lot`s of dynamic, scripted briefing elements can be pre-made if the engine keeps proper accounting of the things of the past... losses... pre-scripted events (bombing of this or that town, political/historical events).. letters from home etc.

Otherwise, you`ll just have an empty shell, a great sim without the feeling of being in the 1940s.

I voted for better Briefing/Debriefing.

I'm hoping it will be switched to some kind of HTML style. That should not be too hard to implement and opens up a lot of possibilities.
